The atmosphere is very nice, the service is great, but the food was very average. Not worth the price.

Very hit or miss. I went with a party of five for my birthday. The bad: My dad ordered sea scallops that were outrageously overcooked and had a sharp wooden needle in them that had broken off the wooden skewer, and his skewers were splintering all over. This was the dish from hell, he could have been seriously hurt if he ate them and the over cooking was really excessive and not good eats at all. None of the fish was incredible. My wife got stuffed white fish of some sort, it was completely unimpressive. I got the lobster macaroni and it was awful, very little cheese taste and completely overrun with artificial bacon flavor. My four year old got chicken strips and they were some of the worst I’ve seen, dense little pre-frozen nuggets worse than Applebee’s. The price of the food was also relatively high. The good: I love orange juice, it’s my favorite beverage, and Mitchell’s Fish Market has the best orange juice I’ve ever had. I was blown away by it and drank several glasses, all of which were over priced and worth it(not an oxymoron, they were still over priced.) Still, the orange juice alone makes me feel like they deserve a high rating. The clam chowder was also very good. The potatoes were just right in texture, size, and distribution, the creaminess was spot on, the flavor was all around excellent, big clam chunks. In the top two or three clam chowder’s I’ve eaten, and it’s something I order a lot. The crab cake was also incredible with roasted corn and pepper sauce. The crab cake itself was above average and worth the price, lots of real crab meat and very little filler, with a great flavor and texture. The roasted corn and red sauce took it over the top, really just incredible I’m getting hungry thinking about it right now. All things considered this place was a mix of incredible and awful with very little in between.

Great lunch and dinner menu and a favorite every time I’m in town. The ambience is great and the staff always friendly and knowledgeable and their seafood fresh.

Fish Market used to be my favorite place to eat. We will never be back. Fiancée made reservations to celebrate my birthday with friends as a surprise, 7:30 reservations under Green. Server was odd, not attentive, and I think we were his only table. I honestly was shocked to see how few people were in the restaurant, must be a reason. Most of our party had never been there before, doubt they will be back either. Not impressed. I ordered scallops shang hai style. During dessert I started to feel sick, and threw up in their bathroom before I left the restaurant after we paid the bill. Noone even around to tell. I was the only one who ordered scallops, only one who got sick. That has never happened to me before. Disappointed that what used to be a lovely restaurant no longer is.

Went here tonight on a whim. I always heard good things about this place over the years, back when it was a Cameron Mitchell owned property. Little did I know before dining there tonight that a little over a year ago Mr. Mitchell sold the place to a different owner. And well, it was terribly disappointing, to say the least. I went at 8:00pm and the place was empty, there were literally two occupied tables when we walked in. I guess we should have taken that as a warning… I went with one other person. First we ordered the Tempura Lobster Bites. I will say this was the highlight of the meal as they were delicious, spicy and savory. The thing is… we literally got five of the things. Yes, five pieces of this little bite sized pieces(ever ate popcorn chicken? Yeah that size). Keep in mind this dish cost $ 17.50. Needless to say we were shocked, but we figured eh, oh well, we aren’t prone to complaining and we still have entrees coming. I ordered the Shanghai Sea Bass, while my friend ordered the Yellowfin Tuna. Each of these entrees were around $ 35.00. I didn’t order any sides, while he ordered a side of the red mashed potatoes and the stir fried veggies, each were about $ 10.00. The Shanghai Sea Bass came on a bed of sticky rice and spinach. The sauce on the rice was kind of tasty, but you see, the part I paid for, the Sea Bass, was entirely flavorless. When I was asked how it tasted I literally had no idea how to answer because I could not taste it. It was like eating pan seared matter. The spinach was overcooked mush that also, somehow, had no flavor. Like I said, the rice with the soy ginger sauce on it was tasty but Jesus, for $ 35? I could have paid a few bucks at my local Chinese takeaway for a much bigger, better tasting portion. My friend’s Tuna was pretty good, I’ll admit. He let me taste a small piece, and it had lots of a very nice flavor and was cooked well. Thing is, it was about the size of a roll of quarters, I kid you not. I wish my phone battery hadn’t been dead during the meal otherwise I would have taken pictures. The potatoes were good, the tiny bit of them there were, but the«stir fried» veggies sucked. They were raw and flavorless. By the time we were done with our entrees we were still hungry, so we did something we almost never do when we go out to eat because we’re usually out of room; we ordered dessert. He ordered the Key Lime Pie, I ordered the Crème Brulee. The Key Lime Pie was… the weirdest I’d ever tasted. It had no sweetness, it tasted like shoving a fresh cut lime in your mouth and sucking on it, and the plate was drizzled with this very sour syrup type substance. Very strange. My Crème Brulee on the other hand was… well, plain and unexceptional. There was nothing wrong with it, but I’ve had much better. Heck, even the service was lacking. We had to get up and find our waiter twice. After I finished my first diet coke my glass stayed empty until the end of the meal when I finally got a refill. When my friend asked for some butter, he was told in a very cert, assertive tone by the waiter to wait until he was done explaining some dish we weren’t interested in before asking him for anything. Yeah, there’s some top notch customer service. And then there’s the atmosphere… which feels extremely drab and dated. Probably because they’ve literally done no upgrades or changes since they bought the thing. The bill came out to be about $ 120.00 for the two of us, and neither of us felt like it was anywhere near worth it. We could have gone to some mediocre chain restaurant like Applebee’s or O’Charley’s and got a far more enjoyable meal for a quarter of the price, with better service, and been full afterward. When I got that bill and thought about how stingy the restaurant is with the portions, the food overall being lame, the service being below par, and the atmosphere being nothing worth experiencing, I had to ask myself… what exactly am I supposed to be paying this much money for? Unless I hear some crazy news like«MITCHELLRECLAIMSFISHMARKET!» I will never, ever return to this place, and I recommend you spend your money elsewhere. If you want to spend this kind of money on dinner in Columbus, go to Hyde Park, or Black Point, or Oceans, or McCormick & Schmitt’s, or Smith & Wollensky. Those places are all a similar price point, but offer a satisfying experience worthy of it. This place is just overpriced for the sake of being overpriced because it used to be a Cameron Mitchell restaurant and they’re hoping no one notices the change. Hate to break it to you guys; I noticed.

Love this place and always make a point to go when I’m in town. The bar is always quiet and easy to get a seat. The food menu is standard fare but all items are cooked well. The key lime pie is out of this world!

Columbus fishmarket used to be by far our favorite restaurant in Columbus. Through the years it changed hands. I have not been in several years and have to say I was quite disappointed. The menu is very similar to what it used to be and the prices are as high as they used to be. But unfortunately the quality of the food and the expertise of the chef is not up to par. Steaks were not cooked as ordered, seafood platters and fish were at the quality of a restaurant half that price. Seafood did not taste fresh and high quality and presentation was lacking. The Server worked very hard to make us happy with our special occasion, but unfortunately she has no influence on the quality of food or the quality of the cook. Management seemed interested in running a good restaurant; but quality of the food was not behind their efforts. The restaurant seems to be getting very old and the bar seemed very outdated and felt older and dirty. Our bill was $ 325 for 6 people. We went to celebrate a grand occasion and did not let anything ruin the celebration. I am doubtful we will ever return.

Mitchell’s is a main stay for us. We almost always visit with a reservation and have never had an issue with getting in and seated. My usual is typically the filet, even though it’s a fish place. I like what I like. My dish is almost always cooked as requested. I have noticed in the past few years that the seasoning has really diminished. Most of the time I’m here for the hubs so it’s ok. The standard sides are the asparagus and mashed potatoes. They’ve been top notch every time. Often I see end up adding salt to the potatoes, and the steak for that matter. The hubs gets the blackened salmon and loves the flavor. Comes out great every time. We also get the crab and artichoke dip. They change the name of it often, just look for the baked dip. This is what makes my flavorless steak ok. It’s very rich and creamy but not too creamy so it’s hard to eat. We also have the wedge which is consistently crisp, light and not overpowering. I return. I have returned. I will return. It’s pricey, but you kind of have to know that going into the deal. I give this two steak knives up!!!

Something has changed. My husband and I used to frequent the Fish Market years ago and we returned against this year for his birthday. It used to be top notch wait staff, but this time was subpar. Although nice, it wasn’t the fine dining experience that I have had previously. The calamari was so greasy and the salad overdressed. The Alaskan halibut was out of this world and the crème brûlée was the best!!! I’ve had better experiences here in the past and I’ll probably prioritize another spot over the Fish Market for our next night out.

Came here for dinner on a Sunday evening. I’d been here before, and the food was good. However, that was not the case this time. I ordered the Seafood Americana and my friend ordered The Perfect Pair. We each ordered a salad. Neither salad had the ingredients listed on the menu, but they were OK. When the entrees arrived it was not OK. My friend was given something completely different than what she ordered and my meal was disgusting. The shrimp and scallops were hard and dry and the whole entrée was doused liberally with salt. I sent it back and refused the offer to see a menu. I shared my friend’s meal when it finally came. I had to eat from her plate though, since I was not offered a plate, even though I told the server I would be sharing with her. As far as service, it was meh. Wish I had checked out Unilocal before we went. I certainly won’t be going back.

This is NOT A CAMERONMITCHELLRESTAURANT and hadn’t been for quite some time. He sold the name and concept(along with Mitchell’s Steakhouse) to Ruth’s Hospitality Group(Ruth’s Chris) in 2008. Ruth’s sold it to Landry’s, which owns Morton’s and McCormick & Schmidt, in 2014. I’ve been to this location twice recently and agree with the other not-so-stellar reviews. It’s overpriced considering to food and service are good but not great. Highly representative of a fine dining chain restaurant.

My boyfriend took me here for dinner and my boyfriend’s Seabass was really great and cooked well. I got the rainbow trout and it was good through needed slightly more seasoning. We both ordered mashed potatoes and asparagus with our orders and both sides were good. We ordered Mussels or appetizers and Martini’s which were both good. Service was fast and attentive even when it was a full house that night. Nice romantic atmosphere as well.

I arrived hoping to order the mahi mahi but it was out of season. I asked the waitress what was in season and per her suggestion I ordered the salmon on a bed of rice and spinach. It was fantastic! My companion ordered the tuna which he thoroughly enjoyed as well. We shared a key lime pie for dessert, and it was honestly the best I’ve ever had. The waitress was prompt and courteous. We had reservations so there was no waiting, and we ended up staying for 2 hours because the drinks were so good. It was a very comfortable environment for chatting.

Had the Shanghai sampler – the sauce was too sweet, but the salmon was cooked just the way I like it. Since my family is from Shanghai, when the menu listed that the dish included«sticky rice», I thought it meant glutinous rice, but it was just white rice that was more moist than usual. Perhaps I should’ve known they weren’t talking about actual sticky rice because it’s not a Chinese restaurant. As a side note, they didn’t bring out utensils in the beginning, and we requested them after our main dish arrived… not sure if that’s standard for this place, but it was a bit odd for me. Overall, not bad food, but I realized that I don’t like to eat lots of seafood in one sitting, so I probably won’t be back given the price, too.

Continue to be underwhelmed… The sourdough bread was good, the shrimp cocktail(the actual shrimp) was good, but presentation was off. Lobster bisque was too salty. Salmon Oscar – see picture. The hollandaise sauce was mixed together with canned crab meat, and the hollandaise had the consistency of jelly. It was disgusting. No flavor either. Very amateur. I didn’t eat it, and the waitress apparently didn’t notice I didn’t eat it… I don’t complain in restaurants anymore, there’s no point. They can’t make hollandaise sauce here so why have it on menu? Oh, and total bill was $ 101.00 for two people WITHOUTALCOHOL. Totally not worth the money. Apathetic service, amateur food. Free bday dessert was the highlight.

The food and service was not what you would expect from a Mitchell restaurant. The fish was dry and overcooked. The salad was nothing short of cafeteria style caliber. We did receive bread at the table till after our entrees came out. The waiter seemed more interested in telling us about a frequent diner program than spending time and attention to servicing his guests. Overall this restaurant is similar to Applebee’s or Ruby Tuesday. Not worth it.

I had the Shanghai style Chilean Seabass a while back and it was melt in your mouth good. I couldn’t remember where this place was since they have other locations but I’ve finally found it… Again. I will be back the next chance I get. I dream about that Seabass.

Working in Columbus and saw this place while waiting in baggage claim. Thought I would check it out. The seafood stew looked and sounded good, so that’s what I chose. It was great! Then again, hard to go wrong when it’s a Landry’s Restaurant! The service was top notch and I was sitting at a booth in the bar!

If you like seafood and you’re in Columbus, you’d better check this place out! Even if you don’t like seafood, they’ve got something here for you! The atmosphere is nice, the service is knowledgeable and friendly, the prices are reasonable and the food is deeelicious! From the apps to the entrees, they are consistently impressive in their execution. To start, I rated their calamari on The Calamari Quest a 4.5 during my first trip to the area. It doesn’t get much better than that. Because of this, I felt comfortable recommending this place to a coworker and we visited after work. I was impressed all over again with the overall experience. The ceviche was fresh and chunky, served with fresh tortilla chips. My seafood trio brought together some if the best flavors you’ll find anywhere. I’m from Charleston and I know my seafood. I found it hard to believe I could find seafood that fresh so far inland, but they have it. Even the bar drinks were perfectly made. My only gripe was that the server told me that the jambalaya rice had sausage in it, but when my plate came, there was no sausage in the rice. I was looking forward to it, but everything else was so good that I said«f-it». I hate going to the same restaurants multiple times because I love trying new places, but if someone wants me to join them there, I’d go again; even if I already ate! It’s just that good!

I have been to the Columbus Fish Market many times over the past 12+ years. I am not sure what happened this time but it was just not up to snuff. My food looked bodged together and the flavor was bland. My wife had something that tasted a little off to me. Neither meal was a good temperature and looked like it had been sitting for a while. Our server seemed grumpy and annoyed. He might have seen what I was seeing. I could see the kitchen from my seat and they were just standing around chatting. It was not the action I normally see in a professional kitchen. If my meal would have been better, I would not have cared. Our desert was even off. We had a chocolate cake. Most top end restaurants that serve a chocolate cake that is _heavy_chocolate balance the flavor with something tart like raspberry or similar. What we had was just a brick of chocolate. This was a date night and it was just a bummer. We have very little time for special nights and the dinner was flat. I think we will hold off from going back for a while. Hopefully they will reboot their approach and bring back the standards, professionalism, and quality I am used to.

A little back story here. So Bryant M. sends me a message asking me if I’d like to go to a multi-course wine dinner at The Columbus Fish Market and yes, I can take a friend… all for free. Seems he was double booked for dinner that night and couldn’t attend this particular dinner function. Now Mike G. wasn’t raised an idiot, so of course I said yes I would help with this predicament. Someone had to be there for Bryant, it was the least I could do… Hahaha… Anyways, Graig C. and I arrived and were promptly escorted back to their private dining room with about 40 others. We were served a chef inspired seafood dinner that was easily worth the $ 50 per head that they were charging. The dinner consisted of the following: 1st course: Crab Bisque 2nd course: Battered and Fried Oysters 3rd course: Alaskan Sablefish with Risotto and Shaved Brussels Sprouts 4th course: Hot Apple Tartlet Each course had it’s own wine served to compliment it. Everything was very, very nice. The service was excellent and everything went smoothly. We got to learn a little bit about each part of the dinner as it was being served. The wine rep also gave us some background information on each wines. The CFM presents these dinners 4 to 5 times per year with the next one scheduled for March next year and I would highly recommend them to anyone that wants a quality fine dining experience. They would be great for impressing someone special for an anniversary, birthday or maybe just a nice evening out. Many thanks to Bryant for allowing us to have this great experience. We had a great evening. BTW, if you need anymore help with things like this Bryant, just ask. I’m here for you buddy. : —))

The Fish Market is one of my favorite seafood restaurants in Columbus. Granted, we are not a city known for our seafood. The food here doesn’t necessarily compare to something that you can get on the East Coast or the West Coast. Regardless, this is about as good as it gets for seafood in Columbus. The ambiance of the restaurant is upscale and fairly quiet. The servers are consistently pleasant and on top of things. The beer and wine selection seem pretty good, but I can’t claim expertise for wine selection. I really enjoy the oyster selection here– it’s probably a better bang for your buck than what you get at The Pearl. Their soups and salads are all excellent. In terms of their main dishes, any of their fish or shrimp dishes are winners. I would avoid the Alaskan King Crab because for a pound, you might get 2 legs. On Mondays, they have twin lobster tails for $ 19.99 which is an amazing deal. If possible, I also recommend that you save some room for dessert. Both their sharkfin pie(huge ice cream cake slice) or their 3 pound carrot cake are highly recommended.
