Went on Saturday evening, they were busy not slammed, service was… to be nice… a snails pace. The food was decent, but don’t go if you’re in a hurry. The wait staff were unconcerned and forgetful. Not a single item arrived at our table in a timely manner. Took too long for wait staff to even come take our order. I can overlook slow service if wait staff at least pleasant. Our Waitress never made contact with our table once we placed our order unless we flagged her down as she breezed by our table.

Pretty good food, service was very slow. Was a little busy, nothing that should’ve caught them off guard being a Saturday evening.

The meal was ok but the owner is such a mean guy we won’t be back. He is not customer service focused. Be careful if you use special coupons such as Foodie playing cards — he will rip the coupon up! Yes we had asked for it back before the waitress took it, he didn’t even ask us or discuss it with us.

I’ve been here twice now for the buffet, and it’s glorious. Their pizza is excellent, and the price is definitely reasonable(under $ 10 for all the pizza, salad, and pasta you can eat AND a drink). I really enjoyed the pepperoni, the sausage, and their garlic bread. But what really stood out for me was the french fry pizza and the dessert pizza. Both top notch, and I’m pretty sure I could eat just these two types of pizza and be completely satisfied with my $ 10 investment. Both times I have been, the staff was quite friendly, and I felt really comfortable there. It was nice to have the opportunity to just sit, relax, read and eat delicious pizza. I highly recommend Morone’s buffet!

What’s all the whining in the other reviews about ??? I’ve eaten at Morone’s for more than 20 years. Much of it carry out, but not all. They have a very, very loyal local following. Morone’s has the BEST meatball sub in the city, and really good pizza. Their Wednesday Night buffet is a downright bargain — with pizza, pasta, chicken, meatballs, salad, etc. To be clear, Morone’s is not my «go to» for excellent pasta — Morretti’s on Sawmill gets that nod. But Morone’s is REALLYGOOD for subs, pizza and the buffet night.

I came here last night with my wife around 8pm. Situated in a strip mall alongside a hodgepodge of other eclectic non-related stores, I thought I’d give it a chance. We walked in and this place was definitely a mom and pop no frills Italian restaurant that seems to be one of those cornerstones of the community places with high school/college waitresses(that were polite and nice, the good ‘olé fashioned home grown kind from ‘leave it to beaver’) and older sassy ladies that look like they worked there for 25 years. The décor is definitely old school and dated, but I really didn’t mind… it’s kinda like you were in a time machine back to a simpler time with less worries and things were just easier. My wife had the chicken salad and I had the chicken onion mushroom alfredo. Her salad was huge and definitely filling. All the ingredients looked fresh and was good. The chicken onion mushroom alfredo was ok. The chicken, I think, was breaded, which made it a bit heavier than I liked, but the sauce wasn’t too creamy or buttery, so i was happy about that. Don’t get me wrong, it was creamy, but not ‘i can see the butter pooling’ creamy like some other restaurants. it was a bit bland, so i added a little salt. The bread service was nice, bread was crisp on the outside and warm and chewy on the inside, like good Italian bread. I also had cottage cheese as a side(random, i know) and it was good and fresh! nothing to write home about food or ambiance wise, but I just like what this mom and pop restaurant stands for. They seem like a great family, old timer, old school neighborhood feel restaurant. or maybe it was just me and my nostalgia blurring my vision…

I visited Morone’s on a Monday mainly because it was Italian and fairly equidistant between Grandview and Powell. It was a compromise as far as the type of food and location. The first thing my boyfriend and I noticed was how strange the shopping center was off of Bethel. The most niche and specific businesses all gathered in one location — popcorn, hockey, airsoft, the list goes on. The entrance to Morone’s is a very long hallway, a little strange and claustrophobic but a friendly hostess led us into what looked like their main dining room on the right side of the restaurant. Every single person in the room had white hair, were dining in pairs, and not speaking to one another so it was very quiet despite being fairly full and made me feel like I needed to whisper to everyone at the table. My sister and her sig other joined us and ordered drinks. We eventually ordered and it looked like there was no complimentary bread in the future when my boyfriend asked and was pointed toward the garlic bread in the appetizers. Weirdly, a basket of rolls and butter did make their way out later, and they were decent — soft and warm. I didn’t necessarily have high expectations of this place, but my Pasta Primavera was not nearly as bland and tasteless as I find at similar restaurants. That being said, I ordered a side of their really good, sweet pomodoro sauce to give it more flavor(I said LESS bland than normal). That gave it a boost but the noodles were a little mushy and reminded me of cafeteria pasta. I don’t know, but there’s something about that bleached white, thick, mushy spaghetti that you find in cafeterias everywhere that I couldn’t help but think of while eating this. The stuffed shells that the boys both ordered were«ok» for one, a little better for the other, but both too cold for their liking. Overall, this place lacks energy and is out of touch with current aesthetics with the outdated wallpaper and carpeting. The food is fine but not exciting or delicious. The people are nice, and the patrons appear to have been coming here for years.

This place had terrible sauce. It tasted like it was from a can even though they boast that they make their own sauce. The breaded zucchini for an appetizer was the best part of the meal although i have had better at the blue danube. The calzones looked good but not good enough for me to come back.

I normally don’t do reviews but we just moved into the area and decided to get take out. This goes on the list of some of the worst places I ve had. The food was flat and without flavor over cooked veggies and burnt cheese bread! Always thought basic pasta dishes were pretty easy to prepare and hard to mess up but I guess not

I’d like to debunk all of the negative reviews for Morones. The services was great, food was amazing, the bread was hot and all drinks were cold and delicious. We’ll definitely be back.

My family and I went to Morone’s looking for some good Italian food and left very disappointed. The place was empty on a Friday night which should have been a sign. The menu was pretty standard: pizza, pasta etc. Our waitress seemed preoccupied to say the least. She would leave us for long periods of time and forgot to bring my sister in law her appetizer, which is no big deal, but she did not realize it until the end of the meal when we pointed it out to her. The food left a lot to be desired. My brother and I had the chicken parmigiana and his was so burnt he could not eat it. When he asked for a new one, it took so long that we cancelled it and he had to eat dinner at another restaurant after we left. The portions were small and the pasta was so overcooked that it was mushy. No one loved the food or even liked it really. Combine that with the service and it is safe to say we will not be back to Morone’s.

Great lunchtime service(once the waiter realizes you’re there) You enter and seat yourself and if the waiter isn’t in the room, it may take some time to get anyone to come and assist you — my only complaint. We had the lunch buffet — mostly pizza, but very good pizza, especially the potato pizza. Our waiter was very attentive to the table, bringing refills, clearing plates, etc. Good value for the money.

I’ve been going here for years when I lived in the area, and the food used to be great. Decided to try it again while in the area. When entering one of the front windows was broken and covered with plywood. We arrived here around 830pm, and ordered a pitcher of beer. They were out of all beer except bud light and budweiser, so we opted for a pitcher of bud light. The draught beer tasted like the lines were dirty and just didn’t taste right. I ordered the pizza buffet, and my family ordered spaghetti. The pizza buffet, was disgusting to say the least. The pizza was burnt and looked like the food had been sitting out all day. When the server came back, I asked if they could male some fresh pizza. He said he would and asked what kind of pizza I wanted. He left for several minutes and came back and said they couldn’t make anymore because the buffet closed at 8pm. He then left and a different server came to the table. I offered to pay for the beer and asked him to cancel the spaghetti orders. He then responded«at this point that would be just fine» with a mean attitude. They never brought a check for the beer, and after sitting there for several minutes we got up and left. The manager was so clueless he chased us to the parking lot to ask what was wrong with the food and service. The place looked dirty, not at all how it was 2 years ago. Probably one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had.

OK — let’s start by saying this is a tentative 4 Stars. I have to go back to verify… We went to this family owned Italian restaurant on the night that half of Columbus lost power because of 80 mph winds… so, they had power = slammed by guests. So, the service was SLOW. Kitchen was jammed. We waited about an hour for our food. However, was it worth the wait! Awesome Italian food. I started with the antipasto salad(½ order). The portion was very big, the salad was fair. Not the best antipasto ever, lots of mozzarella cheese, a thre peperoni’s and some ham chopped up. So, while it fresh, it was just plain. But, then came the lasagna. Again, I had a half order and it was terrific. The lasagna was well construcuted, great texture, even filling and the sauce was great. A bit sweet, but seasoned very nicely. The atmosphere is very humble. On the same caliber of Iaconos or Sumeno’s, but the food quality was superior. Wait staff was friendly, but overwhelmed. I got a chance to talk to some of the kitchen staff and they confirmed that they have never been that busy, so we’ll definately be back and see how the service works itself out!

Morone’s is great if you’re looking for solid, no frills Italian food. It is not a chain; it’s locally owned. Next time you have the urge to get takeout from a pizza chain, get Morone’s instead. Or, go to the lunch buffet(every week day, all you can eat, for under $ 10 with a drink) or dinner buffet(Wednesday evenings), and you can try their delicious pizza, pasta, soup, and salad for one price! The pasta is great, not spectacular(but I’m not a pasta fan). For me, the pizza is where they shine. I prefer the thin crust. Their sausage is great(they crumble it all over the entire pizza rather than putting little chunks here and there). They are also known for their potato pizza and cookie pizza(best dessert pizza I’ve ever had). If you go to the buffet, you will also get to try some more unusual things. We’ve had pizza with bacon and saurkraut, pizza with french fries on it, and the more usual toppings options. The entrée salads are great, too. There is one with lots of cheese and olives I like. I’ve also had good subs and calzones from them. I’ve not had anything that didn’t taste good(even the french fry pizza!).

I’ve heard the lunch buffet is very good, but I’ve only been here in the evening. The pizza is typical of the Columbus style, but it is very good as is the spaghetti. Service is your typical teenager-early 20’s waitress, but the service has always been good. It definitely has the feel of a family run business. The last I was in there, they could use a new TV, but I’ll bet by the time you read this they will have it.

Morone’s is tied with the Florentine for my favorite old-school, nostalgic Italian restaurant in Columbus. These places are no-frills, mom and pop-type joints that don’t cater to douchebag foodies who are looking for infused-whatever or encrusted, pan-seared something or the other. All I know is that the food tastes good, I’ve eaten it since I was a kid(I grew up about 20 feet from Bethel Centre), and I keep going back for more. Oh, and this place hasn’t changed since then, either. Some people might call it boring — I call it consistent. The pizza is straight up C-Bus style, cut into squares and thicker than Donatos(they also have a couple deep-dish offerings as well as a «sicilian» style with a different kind of crust). Get it with pepperoni and banana peppers. All of the entrees are good, too — I grew up on the spaghetti and meatballs, but the lasagna is definitely worth trying. Subs are always a good choice — try the Italian Stallion. Again, at least one of the ingredients in these dishes likely comes out of a can, but get over it. It’s comfort food that tastes good. The interior hasn’t changed in years, and it feels very similar to the Florentine, with table cloths and candles in the center of the table, with separate dining areas. There is also a bar toward the back and a big-screen TV in one of the dining areas. Other deals include a daily lunch buffet($ 6.50) from 11 – 2 with pizza, pasta, salad, bread, and chocolate chip pizza and pudding for dessert. There is a dinner buffet on Wednesday nights only from 5:30 — 8 with a larger selection of items for $ 8.99.

I frequent the Bethel center, but I had not noticed Morone’s until I got myself a groupon and decided to use it. Upon entering the restaurant, the place didn’t look like much… in fact, it was a bit divy with a wooden panel wall on one side of the restaurant, a big screen TV blaring sports game, no table cloths or candle lights. Romantic it was not, but once I got acclamated, I started to «get» the place. It was like eating a fabulous Italian meal at your favorite Italian uncle’s place, no frills, no formalities, just good food with fun, rowdy company. Service was also no frills… our waitress was on the curt side and to the point, but efficient. There was no wine or cocktail menu, but they do carry alcohol. I actually loved it that they didn’t push beverage so hard and brought out a glass of merlot only when I asked for it. Food was simply awesome! We had full orders of lasagna and chicken, mushroom & onion alfredo. Both came with salad and dinner rolls. Dinner rolls were crunchy outside and incredibly light and soft in the inside. Lasagna was holding its shape very well and had a wonderful balance of cheese blends that complimented bright red sauce. Chicken alfredo was equally as good and flavorful. The two entrees with a soda and a glass of red came out to $ 30 and the food was well worth it. We will definitely return here for no frills good Italian eatin’.

Very good overall. The meals taste good and are at s reasonable price. The most impressive thing was the portion sizes, they were perfect. Also, the chicken parm was grilled, which makes for a healthier dish. The salad was fresh and crisp. The bread was just ok, though.

A group of us went here on my friend’s birthday. I’d never heard of it or noticed it before from the street. We got cheesy garlic bread and onion rings for appetizers, which were both OK. Then we got a couple pizzas — a pepperoni and mushroom which was pretty good, and a sausage and ham, which was alright. I’m not a big pizza person, but I’ve definitely had more impressive pizzas. I was away from the table for a while, so I suppose one of them may have told our waitress it was our friend’s birthday, but at the end she brought her a big cookie with a candle in it. I can’t say how it was, but it was obviously soft as she ate it with a fork =). Overall it was fine, and I certainly wouldn’t object to going there again, but it’s not on my list of places to go either.
