I’m old now. I haven’t been here since my «younger» days as a student but Penn Station on campus hasn’t changed. Dimly lit with booth and bar style seating. Penn Station is a step up in price from Subway and more like a Jimmy John’s or a Pot Belly’s. You may pay a little extra but you will get a higher quality sandwich as oppose to the lunch line sandwich at Subway. Road Trip Lunch #2 — Columbus, OH My parents and I decided to stop by the Ohio State campus to check it out. Little did we know(though we did suspect) that it was moving-in day and that High Street would be packed. We were lucky enough to snag a parking spot on a side street and walk around the festive greasy spoon-laden High Street restaurant scene. The number of fast food joints seemed to never end as we walked on the street. We didn’t know where to go, so we decided to just to go somewhere with people inside. This was our stop. All in all, it was an enjoyable stop. No, this sandwich chain isn’t as good nor as inexpensive as Goosey Gander in Bethlehem, PA(Road Trip Lunch #1), but it is better than most chains. Penn Station specializes in subs made with hot grilled fillings, and their prices range from $ 5 – 10 for each sub. Everything is greasy, but acceptably greasy. My father liked his Philly Steak, but it didn’t make his eyes go wide like the double roast beef Gombo at Goosey Gander did. I ate half of the Chicken Parm that my mother hand, and I though it was quite excellent. My Reuben was decent, but nothing more. The fries were good, but I expected a larger portion based on the fries cups I saw next to the ordering counter. My mother and I enjoyed the fresh lemonade as well as the free refills. And finally, the cashier was nice enough and professional to acknowledge she had made a mistake when she gave us a soda cup instead of a lemonade, and told us to keep the cup and get whatever soda we wanted for free.* That’s a nice touch and much appreciated. *On the other hand, charging ~$ 2 for soda like most other restaurants do is sort of criminal. It’s just sugar water that costs pennies per cup. That’s a massive profit. On the other hand, the same restaurants will also gladly give you a free cup if you just want to drink water instead.

You will not leave here hungry. This is one of my favorite places for lunch when I’m on campus. The Philly cheesesteaks are the best.

I was walking around campus and saw this little place next to McDonalds and got intrigued because I always enjoy trying new sub places. Their menu looked very appealing and there aren’t too many sub places that sell you french fries with a sub… most just give you a crappy little bag of chips. In fact, this place even has racks of fresh spuds showing you that they cut them up fresh right there. The subs are sold by length in 4 different sizes. I got the 8 inch sub which was very filling with the fries… I probably could have went for the 6 inch sub. A little on the pricey side, but you can’t complain due to how good they taste and they don’t skimp you on anything. The hot sandwiches are grilled perfectly and are well proportioned. They only have one type of bread but it’s extremely good. One of the best subs I’ve had, I“d like to go back and try their other sandwiches. Btw, if you’re with a friend, it’s cheaper to order their biggest sandwich and split it in half.

This is my favorite sub place to go to, love the subs here they have a good variety of subs, and the prices are in line with the quality of the food. The last sub I got here was a dagwood sub, which has a ridiculous amount of food. I remember picking the sub up, and didn’t know whether to eat it, or use it as a billy club. The fries here also are great, add some vinegar to them and they remind you of fair fries. And I can’t forget the lemonade that they make fresh every day. Great place to eat and a great atmosphere as well.

Although I’ve never tried Philadelphia made Philly Cheese Steak sandwiches, the Dayton, Ohio born company, Penn Station, makes some really good cheesy, greasy goodness. Due to my high metabolism, I have never really gained any weight, nor visibly noticed any additional weight allocated to any part of my body. However, after eating Penn Station on and off for a month straight, I definitely felt my waist line grow a bit. So, you may want to watch how much Penn Station you consume. Just to give you an idea how greasy this stuff is, imagine your wax paper your typical sub sandwich is wrapped in. This sandwich will be just immersed in grease, so make sure you don’t eat it over a carpet or a rug!
