I was told to try the pizza. Well I did and I regret it. I love thin crust but this was like eating g a card board cracker or stale dough. I was very disappointed. I won’t be ordering pizza from here again. I had a sandwich and it was decent so I gave it 2 stars.

Solid hangout spot in German Village. Big patio, plenty of room inside, cold beer, and bratwurst dinner. We dropped in for a family pow wow on a Friday night and it was no problem to get a big table, order a ton of appetizers, then all manner of entrees(salads, chili, sandwiches, wings, and the previously-mentioned brat dinner). Textbook service, and our waiter was friendly & kind to our more distracted diners — the kids and the seniors. Summer nights, we’ve hit the patio to hang with the ball teams & nosh on Plank’s thin and sweetly sauced pizza. Hits the spot with a lighter beer. There is a small parking lot, rare for GV. Great for a good time all around.

Friends and I took our boys between baseball game at Berliner. I can’t say how cool the waitress and staff were our boys spilled drinks and ordered everything lol. Needless to say that we sampled Burgers, Pizza, Fries, Chicken Fingers and everything was awesome and I mean everything. I am going to be spending more Sunday’s eating Pizza at Planks.

Yikes. Never eating here again. The service was bad, and the beer is the best thing on the menu. I wish a half star rating was a possible option. #PlanksBierGarten #HighSt #JustSayNo #Columbus

Service was atrocious. Save yourself the trouble of trying to get a beer in a beer garden(completely ignored by the waitress for 20 minutes), and go to Gresso’s down the street. Better food, local beer, friendly owner and staff.

I don’t like giving bad reviews, but this place… horrid service. Waited 20 minutes for someone to help us. Server initially told us someone would be right with us and then proceeded to pass right by at least 10 different times and completely ignored us. We actually left because we were tired of waiting and being blatantly ignored. There are too many great places to eat and drink in German Village to put up with that garbage.

Horrible service… Table was dirty, took 15 minutes to get menus/drink order. Ordered an appetizer that never came. Salad came out and immediately saw a hair in the dressing. Salad plate had tomato sauce all over the side. Waitress never came back to check on food or see how we were doing. We ended up asking another waitress for our check. Wont be back…

Having gone to the Planks on Parsons, and hating it, I was hesitant to try this one. But I’ve heard over and over again that it’s better and different. Went to meet friends for a birthday and had the pizza which was GREAT. MUCH better than the sweet, unappetizing pizza at the other Planks. I was also privy to pretzel sticks which were good. The nachos and the subs looked great but didn’t try them. The crowd was a big mix of old, young, families and singles. I will be back and will absolutely order their pizza again.

Planks has great pizza. Dough made fresh everyday Hamburgers are great too. This restaurant /bar makes CBUS the great city it is. During Bluejacket hockey season this place is Hockey Town!!!

Expensive price for a crap sandwich. $ 9.25 for a sandwich and it had NO meat on it. The«famous» Dagwood had One tiny slice of meat & was all bread! Reuben was a little better but still got skimped on meat. I got fries with it and they were limp and had a total of 9 fries(yes I counted and it was 9 lousy fries!!!) We are actually pissed and are extremely easy going people. I wish we complained. My husband was starving afterward! We have been here before and this was by far the worse food we have received. We got screwed! Totally disappointed and never going back.

Lived in Cbus for 14 years now and have searched and sampled the local za during that time. For years I swore on Gahanna/Beckey Pizza Plus as being the best but everytime I hit up Planks on High I change my mind. Great sauce, great tasting thin crust(yes it has taste), tons of toppings. This is the best tasting pizza I’ve had here. There is another Planks on Parsons but just know, their sauce is very sweet and is completely different from High st. This is a true pizza with excellent flavor, no sugar, just crust, sauce and lots of toppings. If you are on the fence on a good pizza look no further.

Ate here while passing through town for the night. Delicious food, quick & friendly service. For a place with«bier garten» in the name, I was expecting a larger beer selection. The fried pickles were amazing. We also had the crab bruschetta, Philly cheese steak, and the white pizza. All were delicious! They told us they make their own pizza dough. I would definitely come back here if I were in Columbus again!

Great atmosphere from outside dining to full bar to inside tables. Open and airy on a nice day. Wife loves the balogna sandwich. Stay awau from the mini tacos, frozen n fried. Service was good but might be worried if it busier. Definately the German Village essance.

Super disappointed in the service here. The food was good, and the atmosphere was excellent on a perfect 72 degree night. The service was awful. The waitress forgot to put in our order for pizza, and she didn’t realize it until the rest of our group already had their food. She promised we’d get a discount, but that never materialized. It also took about 30 minutes to get our checks after we’d asked for them. This place has a lot of potential, and you may have better luck on a different night. But I won’t be going back here without some assurances from management that things will be better.

A local watering hole that is a local family owned business for many years. Quite the place for locals to go. It has a good sized bier garten to hang out in. Rustic bar interior. Menu has lots of great sandwiches and some salads. Known probably more for their pizzas. Wait staff have been helpful and friendly. Reasonably priced. Parking can be an issue when they are busy. There is maybe space for about a dozen vehicles or so in their parking lot — not a very big lot. So, if they are busy, you may have to drive around to find a place.

This is a solid bar with great, straightforward pizza. Plenty of seating indoors and outdoors, TVs everywhere(great spot to watch a Buckeye game), and plenty of bar food options. The pizza is what makes this a 4 star, in my opinion. It’s a classic central Ohio pizza — thin crust, not too heavy on the sauce, best when crispy/well done, and liberal ingredients(pepperoni and green olives is still my favorite combo, though bacon and banana peppers is not too shabby). Oh, and 2 other notes: 1) this is not the Planks on Parsons and the pizza is not crazy sweet(IMO: weird), and 2) parking is usually pretty easy on S. High St., which is a plus.

This place is a bit deceiving. By the looks of it, and considering the neighborhood, you’d really think you’d be in for some quality German food. Now, I realize that nobody in German Village(as far as I’ve found) is doing truly authentic German, but at least places like Schmidt’s put out a really well-done and tasty Americanized version of it. We came for lunch, so we didn’t drink, but we did sit near the bar. In the winter time, it’s really cold and drafty, even though the heat was obviously cranked. Plank’s food is kind of sad. My wife got the wet beef. A flavorless pile of roast beef served like an open faced sandwich topped with unseasoned gravy. I went with the brats: Johnsonville served with jarred flavorless lukewarm kraut served on straight-out-of-the-bag slightly-stale cheap hot dog buns with a side of soupy and overly-sugary«German» potato salad. At least the service was good. Very friendly staff, and quick.

My first glimpse at their pizza, and I was turned OFF. The cheese was«translucent, and as it sat out, continued to thoroughly disgust me. They did have a decent patio with several picnic tables — this was a plus. Besides that, no reason to put this restaurant and beer garden at the top of my «Return» list.

I visited here for the first time last week. It just happened to be the closest bar. The outside area was nice, but for a Bier Garten, I expected more beers on tap. They had like 5 taps and all of them were beers you could get at any other bar. My vodka cranberries were good and the prices were reasonable, but I expected some kind of beer selection.
