Since I left my last review this Subway has raised their prices and the service has declined slightly. They now charge premium prices for a mediocre product and frankly, it’s not a good value. The crew is rather forgettable and the ingredients are highly processed. But it is still convenient to have someone make a sandwich for you. I really have no choice other than to downgrade their rating from three stars to a more realistic two stars. P. S. Today I read that the sandwich I ate yesterday has added Azodicarbonamide, a chemical which isn’t added to Subway sandwiches in Europe because it is considered a respiratory irritant. Eat fresh.

If you’re going to have a fast food situation right across the street from work, Subway is certainly about the best you can hope for. It’s usually reliable, affordable, and fairly delicious if you’re sufficiently careful. This particular location, however, has managed to kill what draw Subway manages to have with a rude and combative staff. Usually I would focus on the food when talking about a restaurant, but there’s little I could say about Subway that everyone doesn’t already know and what stands out most about this place is that it has me racking my brain for the last time I actually wrote off an entire establishment based on the service alone. I’ve been told that they are out of the bread I requested(which is no big deal) and had that remark immediately followed by «I already told the guy over there we don’t have anymore, why weren’t you listening?» On another occasion, I saw an admittedly difficult customer loudly fuss over the amount of mayonaise on her sandwich and after she left the bristling staff member shouted to a coworker down the line«some people really deserve spit sandwiches, don’t they?» Oh, COMEON — I waited tables for a long time and am well aware of the bile that will spew in frustration over impossible patrons but… well I don’t really need to finish that thought. You see what I’m getting at. I really don’t like expending time and energy just to complain, but it seems appropriate in this case. Luckily the Courthouse area has seen a large and varied influx of new eateries, so feel free to walk on by.

It is a chain restaurant, but what can you do. I am not sure what has happened with management, but this location has gone downhill on service over the last year or so. Co-workers and I go in since it is one of the few choices on the south end of Downtown for a quick lunch. They generally have two people working the entire line now, they have to alternate between preparing subs and running the register. They are a little slow in getting the orders completed. If you have a couple of extra minutes, walk up to the Subway a few blocks north next to CVS, much faster and friendlier service for the same quality of food.
