So sad to write this review. My husband and I like going down to the Opera and the Symphony at the Southern Theater and stop in Thurber’s for dinner before the show. Our last two visits the food has been next to inedible. At each visit I ordered soup, Lobster Bisque the first visit, and French onion the second. Both times the soup was so over salted it was like drinking salt water! Then the entrees I ordered were truly disappointing too. The pasta dish was not very good, I could get as good from the frozen food aisle in the grocery and it wouldn’t have tasted as though it was re-heated in the microwave before it came out. Our second visit I ordered the«Steak salad» and it was drenched in a gelatinous sweet bacon dressing that was so filled with fat that it was truly unappetizing and the sun dried tomatoes tasted of the tin they had been packed in. I used to like the food in this hotel bar, but it has totally gone down hill. I will not have dinner there again until the kitchen gets its act in order! As far as the bar goes, it is okay, however I like a nice dry Gibson cocktail made with gin and garnished with pickled onions. It’s a traditional take on a gin martini, but I cannot order one here — they have no cocktail onions! Thurber himself would be appalled! Come on Westin, get your act together!

Meh. It was OK. The crab cakes had the consistency of canned tuna — ick. The burger was average, the fries clearly out of a frozen bag. Turtle cheesecake for dessert was good. They had a decent little scotch selection and the service was above average.

I am lucky to say that I have been living in the Westin Columbus for the past month. The lucky part is that Thurber’s is just an elevator ride away. It’s like going into my kitchen where my person chef awaits to make me the most delicious meals. Personal favorites: Shaved turkey arugula salad and the side of risotto. The salad is filling and fresh. The risotto is hearty and heavenly with a refreshing burst of flavor from the sweet peas hidden throughout. Love.

My experience at The Westin Columbus was wonderful! A group of colleagues and I went to Thurbur’s Bar and Grill(inside the Hotel) for lunch. The staff was courteous and the atmosphere was inviting. The food was outstanding and management made it a point to come introduce themselves to everyone at the table. The hotel is absolutely beautiful and the history of the hotel is fascinating. We will definitely be returning very soon!
