We were spending the afternoon becoming our own brewmeisters at North High Brewing Company(formerly Bru). With three hours to get our beer going, we had plenty of time to pick the brains of the staff– including where they obtained their kickass chandelier(hung over the brewing kettles). Answer: Tomorrow’s Antiques. This tiny building houses a front room retail area, and a back workshop/woodshop. From what I gather, the brother-in-law duo who run the place each impart their own specialties. One is a custom carpenter, the other designs lighting. The front shop area has some ready made items– interesting lamps, repurposed antiques, and some furniture standing naked so it can be stained to suit. There are so many cool ideas in here… definitely inspiring. For instance, they had the inside of a piano(the«harp») stood up vertically against the wall to make a fireplace-mantle-height shelf. I also saw three seats from an old-timey theater row(complete with underside hat rack) that just begs to be put in a back hallway near a mudroom. The retail portion feels pretty sparse, but it packs a punch of inspiration. I think the idea is to come in and get the juices flowing, maybe buy something from the«store», but the real purpose is the custom furniture. Prices seem VERY reasonable, compared to other vintage/repurpose/custom stores around. Consider getting something authentically cool here before you purchase the contrived«repurposed» version from PB or RH. Also, open on Sundays!
