I’ve always loved«Mom & Pops» type restaurants and«Tooties»(now called«Eddie’s Grille») doesn’t disappoint. If you love comfort food then this is where you should be. From the chicken & waffles to the cheese eggs, grits, potatoes… the food is scrumptious. My only complaint is that they can be pretty slow in the kitchen, but it hasn’t stopped me from eating there. Once you taste the food you’ll decide that it was worth the wait.

What a wonderful surprise! I heard about chicken and waffles as a dish earlier this year. I didn’t get it. Why would you serve chicken and waffles together? So… I put it on my 2015 eating bucket list. In Columbus, OH this is the only restaurant(that I found) with chicken and waffles in the name. We came today and LOVED it! The chicken has a lemon pepper taste and was fried perfectly. The waffles were Belgium style and had a good taste. Server was pleasant and helpful. I think the sweet and salty combo was the secret. Give them a try!

Wonderful wings at Tooties now called Eddies. There is nothing better than going to a mom and pop operation with little or no expectations and then get blown away with really friendly service and the most outstanding wings I have had in a long time. My friend Pat had the chicken and waffles and I had the wings. The waffle was perfectly cooked, light and flavorful. The wings were just perfect. As they were not really crowded we had a lovely chat with Tootie, and the new owners. The more we talked the more I understood what makes their food soooo good. They marinate the wings as well as their fish. The batter is a special recipe that gives the wings a unique and wonderful taste. While we were chatting, the owners wife said their fried catfish is really good and she is not a fan of catfish. I said I understand, I do not like catfish. The husband overheard this conversation and went to the back and came back a few minutes later and presented Pat and I with a sample of the catfish. Again, I was blown away, crispy, flavorful and delicious. I should mention, I am very particular when it comes to using fresh oil. They use fresh oil and that makes it special. Please, give these guys a visit and I guarantee you will thank me.

I love the spot. im very surprised its not packed out. Food is good and the service is also. I travel almost 20 miles to go and eat here and it well worth it.

Liked this place a lot. Nothing better than discovering for yourself a little, unexpected place. This is one for me. Since Chicken and waffles are in the name I decided to get them. I was prepared to wait a while by other reviews on here but mine came quickly. It seemed like there were a couple of other tables that were waiting a while but c’mon why be in a rush? And it does say right on the menu«worth the wait.» I do doubt the 1 star reviewer on here waited 2 hours. Why would you wait that long? Seems like he has an ax to grind. Now onto the food. The wings on the waffle were big and the seasoning was just right. There are 4 wings on an order and the salty and sweet were outstanding with each other. This seems to be their most popular item as I saw lots of them going out. I’m really interested in going back as the rest of their menu also looked good. Service was friendly. Atmosphere was nice. I’ll be back.

while the food is delicious and the wait not as long anymore it would be nice if they put something on door or even on face book that says they are closed on days they are supposed to be OPEN. we wanted to go eat there a few sundays ago and sign on door said open place closed. i even went past there later in the week– same thing sign says open place is closed. i haven’t bothered with it since then

Ok so I had planned on going to McDonalds on Alum Creek to get my normal number 9 breakfast meal which of course is the sausage egg and cheese McGriddle with a hashbrown and small drink of Hi-C orange as my chosen beverage breakfast drink. Walking down the street I noticed a place called Tootie’s Chicken and Waffles so I ventured in. About 10 people were there & I chose to sit close to the front. The cashier/waitress was nice and took my order politely. I ordered the Stuffed French Toast with cream cheese in the middle. That breakfast came with scrambled eggs that had American cheese in it. The cost for the cheesy eggs was an additional 30 cents. Had 2 pork sausage patties & delicious home fried potatoes. Plus I ordered a glass of water which was free & a glass one at least of orange juice. The orange juice was tasty. It is a product of Harvest Valley. Well anyways I plan on going back there in the near future.

In a city starved for non-chain, black-owned food establishments, Tootie’s is near the top of the list, though mostly by default. You have to admire their tenacity, and it bears noting that their service and food have improved over time. The advertised chicken and waffles is a yin-yang of good-fine respectively, with chicken that’s well seasoned and with ample servings. The waffle is a waffle. They make the waffle, not unfreeze it, so it’s an earnest attempt. The sides are okay and the service is fair to middling. Mostly you’re just surprised anybody put this joint in the ‘hood and it looks so good. Personally, I like this spot for lunch more than breakfast. It’s a small operation and by lunch they’ve worked out the early day kinks. Again, it’s improved over time. The wait time used to be a serious dilemma, and the food was okay, but not hour-long wait okay. it’s a good spot to stop in on for breakfast or lunch, though the menu is tight(which I’m choosing to see as a boon over places that have a hundred things and cook none of them well) and probably a dollar or more over what it should be per item. I treat Tootie’s as a back-up when other places are packed, since Tootie’s is never overflowing with folks. And with the dearth of eateries between Alum Creek and downtown, here’s hoping they’re the first of many in the area. Give them a shot, see what you like.

A hidden gem. From the outside this is just another unremarkable restaurant on Livingston. But the inside is clean and updated an the food is delicious! The waffle was a little heavier than I like it, but the taste was there. The fried chicken is spot on. You can tell they make their own breading for the chicken and it was perfectly cooked and served fresh and hot. My son had the breakfast sandwich with sausage and the sausage was killer. They must season and make the patties in house. In my opinion with a slicker menu/branding update and the right advertising this place would be full all day every day. Service was friendly and prompt. We will definitely be back.

Good service Good food I was on the East side one morning so called in a carryout order to Tootie’s. The person that took the order was kind and gave me an approximate time on when it would be ready. When I arrived it had just come out. I paid and left, very simple transaction(though I asked for butter and syrup in the bag and there was none in it). I ordered the chicken and waffles; by the time I made it home to eat the meal 15 minutes had passed so that may have altered the taste a bit to be fair. The offering was good; chicken had nice flavor as did the waffle. I wouldn’t say it stands out above other chicken and waffle offerings, but I was not disappointed at all. Will have to try again and dine in to see if that will yield improvement.

It took forever for my food to come. This is still a fairly new establishment so I hope they improve with time. The waffle was pretty tough, like it had been reheated in the microwave. Chicken was seasoned pretty good. But I kid you not when I say it took about an hour and a half for my food. Waffle 1−5=2.5. Chicken 1−5=3.5.
