If i could give this joint a ½ point I would. They are showing a pattern of not refilling the buffet if ypu get there within 2 hours of closing. And they just decided to not refill three different items but I asked and they blew me off. Sad reaally, it is just not that good anymore.

Like a reviewer said before… no price is worth eating frozen sashimi. We went on a Saturday afternoon for 15.95. Empty, empty, empty. There were perhaps a total of 15 people there? Because the restaurant is rather large, it makes the scenery quite pathetic. Sushi rolls: I have no idea how the sushi«chef“s made them, because I think I can do better. They just laid on the rice, it could’ve passed for a onigiri! Due to the low numbers of customers, the food just stayed on the plates. Rice was dried up, tempura sushi isn’t so crunchy anymore. Just… very blah. Sashimi: Some were still frozen! That is crazy! This alone should be the reason why you shouldn’t go to this place! Cooked food: eh. was okay. All in all. everything has this bland taste to it. The food didn’t come close to being enjoyable. This could be because there just were not enough customers for them to keep providing fresh food. But really? Should I, the customer, be the one responsible to bring a gang of 50 ensure I’m eating fresh food?

I was so sad about there not being green tea ice cream that i asked for chocolate ice cream when i wanted vanilla. I didn’t want to switch at the last minute because the woman with the ice cream scoop appeared to be angry at the ice cream, the concept of a buffet, and the world. After having tried Minado, Ichi Umi, and Sushi Village, I can’t say I was impressed. Perhaps it was because it was already 8pm but the rice in the sushi was noticeably old, and so was the cake. But for only $ 20 on a Saturday night, it was A-OK…as 3 stars would suggest.

Meh. It’s all been said. Standard buffet grade food, but can’t complain for $ 15. I hope they bring back the green tea and red bean ice cream, but I seem to doubt it.

Okay, so, I admit it… I went to Sushi Park out on Long Island last night. Why, you ask? Because my little brother, who turns 11 on Wednesday, wanted so desperately to go there for his birthday. So we took the 2 hour trek out there to take the little bro to his favorite restaurant. This place is HUGE and includes a buffet that is pretty darn diverse and pretty darn big. Hot food hot dishes: Decent chinese buffet food, most of it very fresh tasting. The butter shrimp and stuffed mushrooms were both very good, other things lacked. There was plenty of tofu which is a big plus for me. Crab legs were decent but people lurk until they’re brought out and hoard them so I only got to have one(that’s annoying). Oh and my little brother swears by the beef teryaki and lo mein. Sushi: Hmm… well, not so fantastic. At least the fish wasn’t. The tuna sashimi and nigri sushi had little taste and was surprisingly dry??? It is clearly frozen(and possibly re-frozen) so I didn’t eat much more after the first shot. The rolls are good and there are TONS of them. If you like fried food and funny kinds of rolls, this is the place for you. The selection is crazy enormous and, essentially, overwhelming. Good, though, if you stick to the less fishy rolls. The bowls of spicy noodles they have the sushi side are quite good as well. If you’re looking for quality sushi though, hit up Kura Barn in Huntington or even Show Win in Northport or Toro in Smithtown. Much better quality and definitely worth the extra money. Dessert is lacking… The jello had way too much of a gelatin texture(read: chewy) and they’re kind of nazis when it comes to ice cream(one scoop at a time, that’s it). In all, this place fills a void in this area of Long Island. It’s cheap($ 15 a head), discourages waste(extra $ 10 fee if you have leftovers on your plate), and has some good food. It’s a good place to come with kids or if you’re really super hungry and craving junky food. It’s got two thumbs half-up from me.

This buffet is fairly cheap. The food itself was okay, I’ve experienced better. The place was practically empty when I ate here. I guess go for dinner for more varieties.

With all the wonderful sushi restaurants in and around Huntington and Smithtown, why go here? The secret isn’t in the sushi, it’s in the sashimi. This buffet doesn’t just stock the standard rice-filled rolls, but they put out large plates of sashimi and salads. In my opinion, this is where they shine. Everything else falls completely flat, especially the décor — which makes the place look more like a high-school cafeteria than anything else. Service is sketchy despite all the people running about. The hot food is a waste of time, as are most of the sushi rolls. Stick with nigiri sushi, sashimi, and fish & seaweed salads and you’ll do OK. But if you’re wanting truly good sushi, just skip it, and go somewhere else.

This hit and miss mass market sushi experience has been more of a miss lately. On my last trip, the sushi buffet was half empty and a lot of fish was served STILLFROZEN. And when I asked for my favorite tobiko and wasabi sushi caviar, I was told they don’t serve it that evening — whatever that means. The fresh fruit on the dessert bar is seldom replenished, they stopped serving pineapple and they’re rationing the ice cream(no more self service station) I gave up complaining when I realized that either the front of the house people don’t understand english or pretend not to. While it was a novel experience the first few trips, it’s been a tremendous disappointment lately. I understand the tradeoff between quantity and quality — but inedible sushi is never worth even the lowest price.

Buffet style food and setup — eat until you drop. They have your typical chinese dishes, but they also have sushi section. I think the sushi section is what creates the draw to this place(note — I don’t eat sushi). The reason I say that is this is buffet style and they have alot of different types of sushi. It’s probably best for the novice sushi fan who has never had or eaten very little sushi in their life because it gives them the opportunity to try various types all at one sitting. Also, a lot of sushi gets eaten at this place so they are constantly making it, so you know its fresh. Also, they make it right in front of you which is cool to see. I was debating three stars, but I think this place could be exciting to someone experimenting with sushi. All things considered a nice place, go eat and enjoy!!!

I can easily see the draw for a quick, cheap all you can eat sushi fix, but really if you are going to spend $ 20 on some mediocre food and eat like a glutton, why not spend $ 30 on someplace much better? I have eaten here about 6 or 7 times and it’s fun sometimes to break away from the mold and eat like crazy but the sushi is eh, o.k. and the cooked food is your basic fair. Although oddly when the place had first opened the sushi was much much better and seemed of better quality. Overall a good once every so often spot to go with a group.(Update, now only after five minutes of writing this review, I feel strangely in the mood to go here for lunch… Seriously) Never made it in for lunch.

I can see the draw to this place — it’s cheap and you can eat as much as you want. honestly, this place has some potential but they like to keep their costs down so the quality of food is so-so. They have a hot and cold appetizer section, raw sushi, handrolls, sashimi. I would recommend going on a busy weekend night as they are more likely to replenish the food. I tend to go with the handrolls as they are made-to-order.

Went here for a late lunch today and I don’t think I would return. The thing that put me off the most is the many signs and rules. The most ludacris is that as soon as you sit down you cannot change your mind. Even if you have not gotten any food their policy is you must pay anyway. That makes me wonder, is it that bad that they must trap people into paying? I mean once you sit chances are you will eat and pay, however if you walk around and nothing looks appetizing(which is the only instance I would assume anyone would decide to no longer dine there) then you should be able to make that choice. The other thing is they have signs posted absolutely everywhere that if you waste any food you will be charged $ 24.95 rather than $ 14.95. That then made me nervous to really explore the food. What if I don’t like something? Will I be penalized for poor cooking/preparation? The other odd thing is they do not have any soda on tap — its just cans. Then if you get water, the waitress/waiter never asks you if you’d like a refill you have to flag someone down. The food was sub par in my opinion. The sushi rolls and sashimi were decent for the price, the tempura was not good, the beef and chicken teryaki was not replenished once despite having none left. The dessert selection was a joke. There were 3 types of cookies, all of which were stale yet soft(like they’ve been left out in humidity), some cut oranges and cantaloupe(neither looked appetizing) and the ice cream choices were strawberry, vanilla and chocolate. Not one Japanese dessert, not even at least green tea ice cream. You have to scoop the ice cream but the top does not stand up alone so you must have someone help you. There are dozens of signs on the top that say to wash your hands, only take one scoop, etc. I mean honestly these people post signs everywhere which does not create a great atmosphere. Speaking of atmosphere the place looks like a warehouse. When we left there were about 6 Hispanic restaurant employees napping on those yellow curbs(I can’t recall what they’re called) with their shoes off. Not very good for business. In any case, I wouldn’t recommend this place and I won’t return.

The quality of their sushi was definitely worse than what I expected. Maybe it was because none of the sushi chefs. looked like sushi chefs. Talk about cutting costs… Seriously makes me wonder if they just picked these guys up from Northern Blvd. Everything else is nothing more than average buffet food. Not worth the $ 15 bucks I spent.

I don’t make it a habit to drive all the way out into LI to go to a sushi buffet, but when I was told that this buffet had rolls, sushi and SASHIMI for just $ 15, I decided, why not and just prayed to the gods in heaven that I wouldn’t be praying to the porcelain one later… Besides, this place was recommended to me by my Japanese friend, so I figured I could trust her. Well, yes and no, I guess. We’ve been there twice. Once for lunch and most recently, dinner. The price is the same for both except with dinner they also break out the crab legs. The buffet is U shaped with two additional freestanding rows. The first side of the U is filled with mostly rolls — almost any roll you can think of, and even some you didn’t. This side also contains some sushi and a tiny space with bowls of noodle salad(I think). During lunch, this side will have roe too — tobiko, wasabi, ikura, etc. They don’t seem to have it at dinner time though. The bottom of the U has the sashimi selection with some tuna tataki and tartars thrown in as well. The other side of the U is for the salads, seaweed, edamame. This is also the side with the crab legs, hidden all the way in the corner by the miso soup machine. Yes, I said miso soup machine. The first row contains cooked stuff. Your usual teriyaki type foods, tempura, shumai and even french fries! The second row is the dessert section. Ice cream, fruit, jello and cookies. I usually just go for the sashimi and give the other sections a once over to see if there’s anything I want to try. The sashimi can be fresh and then not so fresh — all during the same meal! Nothing has been past it’s prime, thankfully. The cooked foods, rolls and sushi are all just boring for me. BTW, the crab legs are not even worth it. They were kinda gross — either overcooked or had been sitting out and dry. Seriously though, the best thing they have going there is their ice cream. They could probably afford to get some Japanese flavors like green tea or red bean, but no, just French Vanilla, chocolate or strawberry. All very good. The rest of dessert — eh. So, I’d probably give them 2 to 2.5 stars, but the service is good. They clear dishes quickly and there is always someone around, should you need anything. So I’ll go ahead and round to 3 stars. I’m a stickler for service… So, if you’re in the hood and just looking for ample sushi, try it. Otherwise, stick to the good places. I would. Thankfully there were no meetings with the porcelain gods after these two trips. I either picked wisely or have an iron stomach…

Good when you have that craving for sushi =) Stay away from weekends but dont go too late during weekday close to closing if you want to pick out all the kinds of rolls they offer! Great value for reasonable sushi!!!

Oh, sushi park. You let me gorge myself for not 25… not 20… but 15 dollars! You’re insanely cheap for a Japanese/Sushi buffet. I think I like you. :] Right, so get this in your heads kids. This is a buffet. You know what that means? The food isn’t top notch quality and the place WILL get crowded by hordes of fatties at one point. Sorry to break it to you. Ahem… now. «for a buffet» this place is pretty good. Their selection of rolls is close to fantastic because they have more than just the staples of «California rolls» and«cucumber/salmon/tuna» variants. You can get dragon rolls and rainbow rolls if your timing is right. that being said, I’d skip on the sashimi if I were you. No explanation needed. I do like the make your own miso booth, where i overloaded with seaweed(whoops!). I also wouldn’t advise bringing friends who aren’t that fond of fish. the selection of meat-related items is contained to a small row, and not the best quality. So – I’ll admit to being disappointed when I left. There was no green tea OR red bean ice cream. On the flip side it does exist there, which is the important part… and will make more appearances on occasion. When I do happen to see either, I’ll be overjoyed! All in all, this place is alright for a buffet, way cheaper than minado and has a good selection for what it is.

I used to have a very good review for this place. I went there and enjoyed it, but then I went back. I spat out 3 rolls because they weren’t fresh enough and my fiancé spit out 2. I went and told the hostess and she told me that I was wrong because no other customers had complained, and when we paid, not only did we still have to pay full price(I work at a restaurant and whether or not I agreed with the customer I would have not charged them), and they never even apologized. I will never be returning.

I ate here on a Wednesday and was all busy, But the size of this restaurant is huge. What I was told was that the line is usually out the door on the weekend and usually during the week. I did enjoy the large selection of Sushi and Sashmi. They offer a line buffet for those that do not enjoy raw fish. All though I did get my date to try some Sushi she did like it, but I wish the fish did look a bit more fresh. I think it is over priced, but I am used to eating at this type of place in NYC were raw fish is half price. Wish I knew. This place is something special and i hope they add more flare to it over the next year. I would recommend it though.

Korean owned restaurant Wide variety of sushi(much different than Minado) and they actually serve Sashami slices(just the fish, no rice) Like Yui K, said — very innovative rolls which i loved. However — the fish is NOT as fresh as Minado. In fact, i grabbed a salmon that was beyond expired and literally spit it out. Very good ice cream The terraayki tofu was expired… Loved the spicy chicken(there are many chinese menu dishes) for 15 bucks per person not bad at all.(Dinner is also 15 bucks now — due to their advertised inflation sale) Don’t waste food, cause they look serious(in fact the owners/managers are also watching the buffett) Also, i saw many people sitting around me, cleaning their dishes up…

Sushi buffets are THEE best, especially good fresh ones. I say it’s WAY better than Minado. Still relatively new and the staff are friendly, plate clearup is quickquick. The outside looks small and is deceiving because the inside is HUGE. and pretty. Lots of different, innovative rolls that satisfied my sushi craving for a month. They had regular cooked/hot dishes for non-fish people. AND my favorite, green tea ice cream. no buffet is complete without it.(other flavors available too) NICE to have a good sushi place this far out into LI. and go for lunch, it’s cheaper.
