Epic Pizzeria

While the food was good the services was poor. Table was set after we were seated and it took a Very Long time to get our food. The TV in the dining room was on showing a movie that was annoying and loud. There were only three other tables in use the whole time we were there and one of them left within minutes of our arrival. Their dishes were still on the table when we finally finished our delayed meal and left. Service needs to significantly improve before we would be willing to return.

This is a difficult review to write. I think it’s important to emphasize how much we genuinely liked this place. We have had family dinners there and even guys pizza night. I think for dine-​in they have it, but I honestly feel like they don’t care about their delivery customers. I ordered a couple pizzas to be delivered about 2 miles away and the pizzas were awful. They overcharged for the toppings and didn’t have them on the pizza. I mentioned it to the delivery guy and he didn’t even blink. If I was the owner of this establishment I’d have been embarrassed to give these to customers. It’s difficult to leave this because I know its family owned and I truly like supporting family owned businesses.

We saw how great the reviews were of this place, so we decided to give it a try. Now having been there, I am suspicious of those 5 star reviews, because their pizza is by far the WORST pizza i’ve ever had.
We opted to dine in, which I suppose was our first mistake. The place is very small, and has a strong off-​putting odor (not the smell of fresh pizzas like one would expect, more of a gross cleaner scent). The plates were mismatched, which wouldn’t have really bothered me except it made me notice how dingy they were. Definitely not appetizing and certainly didn’t give a great first impression of the place.
We ordered two pizzas, and It took an excessively long time to get just one. We were the only patrons in the restaurant and there didn’t seem to be many people coming in for pick-​ups, so I don’t understand what took so long. Worse yet, they didn’t bring the other pizza out for nearly another 15 minutes. So as one person in our party politely waited until the rest of us got our food, his went cold. One of the pizzas we ordered was the «quatro formaggi», and I would be absolutely shocked if it actually had more than one cheese on it. It tasted like your average cheap cheese pizza. I should also note that our pizzas looked nothing like the ones in the photos. The crust was cardboard-​like with fork wholes throughout. It reminded me very much of a frozen pizza crust from the grocery store, and a n awful one at that. The sauce was just as bad. Not one bit of these pizzas seemed homemade or fresh.
While we were waiting for our bill, we overhead somebody call in for chicken wings, and they were already completely out (at 7pm on a Friday night). The man who was on the phone came in quite a bit later, plenty of time for a very dead restaurant to have his food ready, and he ended up having to wait another 20 minutes before it was ready. Whilst all of this was going on, it seems our table was completely forgotten about. After what seemed like an eternity we finally were able to cash out and leave. We thought that was the end of our terrible experience, but unfortunately it was not. We ended up being very sick that night!
Unilocalers if you are feeling like pizza, I suggest going anywhere but here. Even chain pizza places are better than this place.

This was our second try and was just as bad as the first time. Their breadsticks were day old hard rolls with a little of seasoning. I would not waste your time and money here. Better off going to a chain pizza place.

Stopped here based on the reviews. This place did not disappoint! The bread sticks with cheesy garlic sauce were to die for! The pizza sauce was sweet and delicious! The owner couldn’t have been nicer! This will be our new spot whenever we’re in the area!

We have been ordering from Epic since they first opened a few years ago. They have the best pizza In the area and the service is always great. Their pizza has the best crust and sauce. The pepperoni cups and has a little grease in it that reminds me of the pepperoni at another great pizza place across town called Green Lantern.

We had a catering emergency for a huge event when we had a company cancel because of weather and Mickey and Epic Pizzeria saved the day. The pizza was delicious and we had at least 20 people ask us where we got it so they could get more.

I’m not sure why they get four and five star reviews for very average pizza. I agree the people are nice and the location is convenient. They have good pizza, but it’s not great, and it’s not cheap. I rate them above the chains, no doubt, but the quality does not rate four and five stars.
It’s is a sit down restaurant, that’s a plus, and there’s a full menu. My rating is based solely on carry out pizza.

I thought this must be hype, how can pizza be that special? Can cannolis really change your life? And then I had my first truly epic pizza experience. I had the chef special and ordered a large cheese and Italian sausage too. The chefs was a gourmet pizza experience, a perfect blend of carmely sweet roasted garlic, salty feta and briny capers, balanced flavors that still didnt over power the homemade pizza sauce. The large with italian sausage was also a pleasant surprise, the italian sausage was whole sausages cooked and then sliced. No skiimpy toppings here. Some of the best traditional cannolis I have ever had. Crispy shells because they were made when i ordered them. Creamy filling that was not the donut cream like so many «nice» bakeries have. I am excited to come back and try the lasangna!

This tiny eatery accommodated a party of six adults and two infants for us with no problems. The feeling you get there, as my wife perfectly put it, is that you’re eating in someone’s home, not at a restaurant. Everything is made from scratch, and is beautiful to look at and delicious to eat.
The deep-​dish pizzas were amazing. Rich cheese and tomato sauce covered the made-​to-​order crust. The sausages and veggies were obviously fresh and very tasty.
I had the tortellini with marinara sauce, and quickly realized that I was enjoying somebody’s homemade marinara. It was the best sauce (or «gravy» if you’re one of those) that I’ve had since my mother’s and grandmother’s, rest their souls. You can not buy a jar of pasta sauce like this. They don’t make it. I would’ve taken a picture but I was too busy eating it. That means if you want to see what I’m raving about here, you’ll have to drive out to Commerce Township and pull up a chair.

How great to have a neighborhood spot that is casual, home cooked food at reasonable prices in a quaint, quiet setting. Nice people. Delicious homemade bread. The calzone was huge and satisfying. The fra diavla sauce had a major kick.
We will be back– need to try the Jo-Jo’s!

Went there because the Unilocal rating was high and pleasantly surprised to see Mimi and Mickey, former owners of Mama Mia’s. Great pasta and pizza from great people. What more could you ask for?

We found our new pizza place! This pizza has a delicious crust with a slight crunch. Healthy vegetarian toppings. Sun dried tomatoes, artichoke, yum. You can tell when you open the box it is different. I carried out but the place is cute and clean. Friendly staff. Cost the same as the franchise pizza joints but WAY better. Try it I promise it is the best pizza I have had in a long time.

The owners of Epic Pizzeria are wonderful, friendly people and are more than willing to answer any questions and meet any requests you might have. The menu changes frequently and has a very nice selection of pizza, pasta and salad dishes, but also subs and sandwiches. The selection of different pizza toppings is extensive and you can also choose between regular and whole wheat crusts, thin crust, deep dish and regular style crusts — you can pretty much build any kind of pizza you can imagine! The pasta dishes are also delicious. The restaurant is clean and comfortable with plenty of seating for even larger groups.

We just had lunch at Epic Pizza and will be back for sure! The owner, Mickey, was so friendly and went above and beyond to make sure everything was delicious! Pizza is delicious and very reasonably priced too. I highly recommend Epic Pizza to anyone looking for delicious pizza and homemade breadsticks! They also have other dishes too which I sure as just as fantastic!
Mickey even gave me a flower when we were leaving.

This is truly a hidden gem tucked away at the end of the Plaza this was my first time here and the pizza is delicious I had the Bacon cheeseburger pizza got a medium pizza that was the same size as a large at other chain pizza stores. Toppings were fresh and plentiful the sauce was a good balance between savory and sweet and in just the right amount. The staff was very polite and went out of their way to be helpful to me I will be making this one of my regular sinning spots.

Delightful, family owned, old-​time pizzeria. This is the family that has owned the original Mamma Mia around the Detroit area for years. Wonderful thin crust pizza made the old fashioned way with great cheese & fresh toppings. They always include a carnation with your order — sweet. Only complaint is that I wish they used the old-​style, curly uppy pepperoni!

Excellent pizza! Clean, quaint place with flowers on the tables. Owners, Mickey and MiMi are great!
