We went in for a late lunch around 2:30 on a Saturday afternoon. There were maybe three tables with people, so I was feeling pretty optimistic. Our orders were taken quickly, and arrived to our table very quickly. Things were going well. The Country Omelette was excellent. Very flavorful sausage gravy, outstanding mix of cheese, generous sausage portions… really, the only criticism on the food was it was light on hashbrowns. Where things started going south were when the drinks were empty. The server came back with a bill, but didn’t seem to check on drinks. After that, it seems like we disappeared from her radar. No refills. No boxes for leftovers. Nothing. We noticed styrofoam boxes on a shelf near the register, and when my wife went to grab one, that seemed to put us back on the server’s radar. «Sure, just help yourself,» she quipped with less-than-friendly sarcasm. Ugh. Way to make things more awkward and disappointing. The food is really good, but the service will keep me away.

I was craving an omelette and Unilocal pulled this place up. Very disappointing. I ordered the Lox and I had to pick through it to find the edible portion. Very dry. Spinach ordered was a dry, shredded concoction that tasted as bad as it looked. The waitress repeatedly referred to my brother as ‘dad’ since my kids were also with us, very annoying assumption. Will not be returning.

Updating my review, my family has been coming to Gest for quite some time now, and we love both food and service. The staff is really friendly, and at this point they know our usual orders. Another thing is how accommodating they are to small children, my daughter loves coming there for breakfast. Omelettes are definitely a different taste, they taste sort of batter-y, but I happen to enjoy it. One weird thing is that they always bring separate checks, however, it’s not that big of a deal, given all the good things about Gest

I created my own 3 egg omelette with egg whites, turkey sausage, spinach, onion, sun dried tomatoes, bell peppers, & cheese. The inside of the omelette had decent flavor, and the restaurant’s hostess was very nice and accommodating, but I can’t justify a higher rating due to the quality of the food. I was expecting an omelette the size of 3 eggs, so I was surprised to receive something the size of an entire to-go tray. I knew it was impossible that they used only 3 eggs… they must’ve added something to it to bulk it up. The«egg whites» were not completely cooked, which left the entire omelette soggy on the inside. The consistency of the eggs were horrible… there was so much air whipped into the eggs that it reminded me of eating a wet sponge cake. Not to mention that the lettuce garnish that was included was obviously not fresh, appearing wilted and brownish in color. It’s sad to say, but the toast that came with the omelette was the best part of the entire meal! I can’t see myself coming back to try anything else when a place with«Omelettes» in their title would serve something so yucky. Also, I thought their prices were a bit high and definitely not justified by the quality.

This was s complete fail. I like my toast toasted and my hash browns, brown and my eggs yellow. They use a very cheap ham too. I won’t be back.

Super busy on a Sunday morning! The kitchen was cranking out awesome looking good food and the waitresses were running like crazy! Super impressed! I got the Krappy Benny and my boyfriend got the country omelette. Everything was delicious and the portion sizes very large! I read several reviews having an issue with the eggs… I thought the eggs tasted great! The only negative was it was so busy it made it difficult for the staff to check in during meal, it didn’t bother me though because I could see how hard everyone was working! Excellent team work too. Saw a customer get unruly and rude to the awesome gal who waited on myself and boyfriend. Ridiculous. Just because you are being served food does not give you the right to be rude and pushy in an establishment –I felt bad for the staff dealing with this woman but felt the staff handled beautifully, defused the situation without making a bigger scene. Gave the waitress an almost 50% tip-she’s earning it today! I will be back! Yummy!

That waitress just standing there had been ignoring our table for 10minutes. She looked toward the phone when it rang while the other waitress went to answer it. It was me calling to see if they were still open. That is how I got the server back to my table to take my order. I asked for the manager. She never came to my table. If you can get past the bad service the food is actually unique and very good. I remember going to the Redford location and people would wait in line to eat here. This review was finally interrupted by the manager that wanted to argue with me about the quality of the service here. So my review is this if you want good food just order it to go because the service sucks. Oh going back to my first sentence according to the manager she was only standing there for 8 minutes. She checked on her camera.

Ehhhh, their omelettes are weird. All the ingredients are there and the taste is there, but it’s the way they are made. The eggs seemed baked and have an odd texture. The omelette ingredients are not cooked in with the egg, they’re just all folded in the middle. And a lot of their omelettes come with lettuce in them. Say what?

Smaller than I remembered, Gest is a diner-styled restaurant in a local strip mall. I think of it as a place to brunch, conveniently located near my friend’s childhood home. Despite its name, it offers more than breakfast; its lunch menu includes sandwiches and salads. The breakfast menu caters to all appetites with omelettes available with one, two or three eggs. Additionally, guests can create their own from an extensive list of ingredients. A variety of Eggs Benedicts are available, as are popular breakfast platters. I was in the mood for the Country Omelette, where sausage, onions, cheese and lettuce were folded into 2 eggs. It was topped with a healthy-sized serving of country gravy. The lettuce added freshness to the heavy meal and the combination was good. Less good were the side of hash browns and country biscuit. The hash browns had a mashed potato consistency with a hard(almost stale-like) crust. I was very disappointed by what should have been a diner staple. The biscuit was literally hard to swallow; it was so dry that I only had a few bites. This says a lot since I love country biscuits. I also sampled the pancake which was delicious. While I am a serviceable at-home cook, I’m terrible at making pancakes so I appreciate them even more. Service was prompt and efficient.

Bacon, cheese and onion Omelette was very dry. Tasted more like a pancake than an omelette. Server explained that that is how they are prepared here. They do not do «eggy» omelettes here. I sent mine back. My wife had French toast with poached eggs. The eggs were fine but the French toast was cold. She ate part of it but didn’t enjoy it. This place was not our taste. We will not return.

A good breakfast place. It might seem pricy but my kids and wife all love the selections and the overall quality. It can be a bit of a wait for a table but worth it.

Two stars for welcoming, attentive, polite service & staff. Clean restaurant.(The backs of the booths are stiff, stick out & not very comfortable, I’d suggest a table instead.) No stars for breakfast. Omelettes were rubbery and tasteless. Bacon was half-raw, half-burnt. Sausage had peculiar taste, similar to what the airlines used to serve — yuck. Potatoes were sliced, not traditional but they were ok. Cheap grocery store-like bread for toast. On the other hand, there are many chains like Ram’s Horn, Denny’s…that serve equally gross food so, perhaps, it’s simply personal taste. So, if you like that type of breakfast, you prob like this place. However, we prefer the breakfasts served at the local coney islands, Stage Deli in West Bloomfield, Plaza Deli in Southfield and even McDonalds is better, imo. Of course, all these places serve unhealthy, fattening food.(Many do offer«healthy alternatives» but, if we wanted healthy, we’d stay home — which we usually do, eating breakfast out only a few times a year mostly while vacationing.) Note: One thing I don’t like is when a server starts removing dishes while guests are still eating: My husband was finishing his toast and he had to stop and lean back because the server wanted all the dishes. I’m assuming that they didn’t know better and would never embarrass someone by saying anything; but, if someone from the restaurant reads this, maybe they will do a better job training the staff.

Gest Omelettes is named perfectly; after it’s noteworthy omelettes. Picture the fluffiest eggs stuffed with unique options, topped with homemade sauces and served next to lettuce and your choice of toast. In addition to their outstanding omelettes, Gest serves up an array of AM food choices from breakfast nachos to carrot cake pancakes. Although I find it difficult to look past the«Gest Omelettes» portion of the menu, they also have many lunch options including sandwiches and salads as well as some delicious sweets to finish off any meal with. The decadent specialty omelettes come in three different sizes and range in price from $ 6.95 to $ 8.25. I am obsessed with the #8 vegetarian. I get the 1 egg with hashbrowns and multi-grain toast. It is stuffed with mushroom, green pepper, green onion, avocado, artichoke, swiss cheese and bernaise sauce… incredible! You can get a variety of sandwiches for less than $ 7.25 and a full order of all types of fancy pancakes for $ 6.50 and under. The bottom line is… a lot of bang for your buck at Gest. You will leave full with some money left in your wallet. Gest is small and decorated with a simple, country chic feel. You are guaranteed to experience friendly service; everyone is really friendly. Whatever your preference is, they will get you in and out or let you stick around awhile and enjoy!

There is not a better omelette shop in the area. Consistently good, always fresh, quality ingredients. .. What more could you want? Love love love the country omelette with sausage gravy and no onions. ALWAYS have them hold the lettuce(still ant figure why they put lettuce under the omelettes, but it’s super easy to say«hold the lettuce»). They even have raisin toast!

I had really high hopes for this place by the name of the restaurant alone. The waitress was super friendly and despite the morning rush, we were seated right away. You can customize your omelette or choose from the wide variety of custom omelettes that they already offer. I’m not sure how the omelettes are prepared, but despite its fluffy consistency, my omelette fell flat. I was expecting a traditional omelette, but that’s not what I got. Don’t get me wrong, it was hot, had all the ingredients I asked for, and the veggies were fresh. It also came with a big side dish for dipping into their yummy sauces. I just didn’t like the way the omelette was prepared. I think I will give this place another shot and hopefully find something that I can fall in love with!

I got the World War I. Could have been better. I’m really picky about corned beef hash. I have been to a few places that know how to cook it just right. Not the case here. I usually get an omelette and always like them. They are huge and fill you up just eating half. The Aloha is really good. Ask for both sauces on the side. Yum. The person I was with got the monte cristo and she said it tasted good.

Honestly I enjoyed the food… please note this place is a little pricey but of course you pay for what you are getting. The portion are BIG and/or maybe i’m just greedy because i ordered 3 egg omelette; hey it’s was 20 cent more for 1 egg, why not. This location seem to be very«low key» to me and with a chain restaurant down the plaza — it seems to be a hole in the way spot. Please note there’s nothing fancy about this place but the wait staff is nice and the tables were clean. I highly suggest — getting larger plates if you’re going to server large portion; this could’ve been 5 star review.

The hubby and I have dined here twice mainly because he and my father in-law love it and wanted me to experience it as well. I was pleasantly surprised. We have had the omelettes, the corned beef hash, and the standard breakfast platters. Everything was good, I like how the eggs are never overdone which is a problem I have at most breakfast places. But my favorite are the potatoes. They are quarter sized and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside so you can really taste the potatoes-SO GOOD! The hubby loves the corned beef hash which can easily feed 2 – 3 people. We always take some home and he is more than happy to snack on it for the rest of the day. A must-try place for breakfast people!

This is one of my new favorite breakfast spots! The food is great. I LOVE the aloha omelette. The staff is always friendly and you can definitely tell that they enjoy working there. The bussers, waitresses, cooks & hostess all work together to make sure you have a great experience. Even when there is a wait, during the busiest time of day… They have an excellent table-turnover rate and we have never waited longer than 10 minutes to sit down. Our food is always fresh and comes out very fast! Highly recommended !!!
