The bento box is very loosely filled. And we had hot tea(which I supposed to be complementary), but they ended up charging us 2 bucks for each person(without telling us in advance). Probably not gonna come back again.

Always wanted to try this place out. It was AMAZING! Very clean place. Friendly owner. Complementary green tea. Meant to be a carry out place but I prefer to dine in– presentation is amazing. Good prices. Def will be back

As stated by other reviews, it’s very confusing to eat or order food from here. The menu is confusing and they don’t necessarily understand any English at all… That being said, the food isn’t good. You’re better off driving the extra 20 minutes to Novi and going to a better restaurant. We were over charged for our food(prices don’t match menu prices), they gave us food we didn’t order and charged us for it, and didn’t give us half our order and charged us for food and didn’t give it to us. Sounds confusing and frustrating enough? After all of that when we asked for a refund for the food they charged us for and didn’t give us, they refused. The sushi rolls weren’t good and fell apart. The edamame was soggy and had obviously been sitting in a pan for hours. They don’t give you wasabi or ginger or soy sauce for every roll. And have terrible customer service. Don’t waste your money.

OmG!!! Best Sushi Ever! Not only that, they have the best food in my opinion. When you go in, it has the Japanese feel like restaurant in Japan!

This places specializes in takeout, so even if you eat in the food will come in take out containers. The atmosphere is that of a simple ‘hole-in-the-wall’ place that you might see in Japan. Service is… understated, probably warms up if you are a regular and they get to know you. I lived in Japan for a couple of years and the food reminded me of home cooking. Thoroughly enjoyed the curry and the saba marinade was good. If you are staying at the Novi Hampton Inn, the location is fantastic. What I’d give to have this place close to home for easy takeout. Prices are good. Made me a bit ‘homesick’ for Japan. Highly recommend.

Quality sushi for a great price! This place is tiny so I would say it is mainly a «to-go» kind of place but, I have dropped in for a quick lunch before. They have an awesome party tray which definitely feeds 4 – 5 hungry adults(includes many special roles) for only $ 49.99! The lunch specials are great, too-$ 9.95 gets you a choice of 2 items, soup and salad. Items include shrimp and veggie tempura, bolgogie(sp?), teriyaki, and sushi. The bolgogie is deliscious! I also love that the only employees are the husband and wife who own it. They are very accommodating and great at what the do :)

The food was decent. But I was super confused. And so were they. I ordered a combo, but they didn’t have what I ordered. They charged me wrong. And after I left, I realized my change wasn’t right. Small, order at the counter and then try to guess what they have because the menu is confusing. The food was ok. I didn’t hate it, I just don’t think I would go back.

Literally The Best Sushi you will find in the area! My husband and I have traveled all over trying different sushi places and while Philadelphia and Florida come to the top of the list, this is by far the best here. We’ve never gotten sick or found bugs in our food like others have at other sushi restaurants. What I also look for is if there are people of the ethnicity to the restaurant dining wherever I go. The owners are SO nice and remember their customers. We really have no complaints with Sanka Tei! They are just the best!

The portions and flavors were unreal. Some of the best sushi I’ve had; definitely a head above most places in the midwest.

Delicious fresh sushi, perfectly cooked and seasoned grilled mackerel and some perfectly balanced udon. I only have 2 complaints, and they’re kind of ridiculous. 1, theres no prices on the menu so you have to ask for everything, 2, the gyoza is deep fried whereas I prefer«single side pan fried» like we do out at home and in japan. Other than those silly gripes, the experience was just perfect!

Family business owned by Japanese couple. Fresh food with unbeatable price. Since there is only one chef, it takes longer time to get your food than other places. You’d better call first to make your order.

They have fantastic sushi and nigri. I love the spicy tuna rolls here because of the slightly smokey flavor it has. My go to roll is always the Rainbow roll. It is rolled large but it is so tasty. Lunch specials are a great deal and portions always seem to be generous. When I’m in the Commerce area this is my go to place!

The Queen Dragon was great but I thought it was overpriced. It was also rolled really large so each piece felt like a golf ball in my mouth.

I am happy to say this place will be added to our to-go-eats list, especially because its less than a mile from us. I went there with the previous reviewer and a bunch of coworkers, so we had to wait quite a while for our food to come out. Like Minh said, there seems to be only two people preparing the food. So yea, expect a wait, but it wasn’t that bad to me considering we came in with 10 ppl total. I’m willing to wait for good food though. My husband and I ordered the Sanka Tei Sushi Combination, which included 2 six piece rolls(California & spicy tuna), two hand rolls, and six assorted nigiri rolls. We also ordered the Ruby roll and the Curry Rice w/Breaded Pork. The standout item we ate was the Curry. The pork, the breading(tempura flakes), and the sauce was on point. I was full from eating the sushi, but managed to make room for the curry dish. The rolls that we had were good, but wasn’t amazing. The rice from the nigiri rolls we had came apart from the fish instead of staying as a whole. I’m guessing it was because they probably felt rushed with us having a big order ontop of the carry-out orders.

I’m always glad when I find these little places. You know, the ones that are independently owned, hole-in-the-wall, hidden-gen places. The kind you only find out about through word-of-mouth. This is one of those places. The interior is very nicely decorated, with pictures of rolls everywhere. Interestingly, it is off of these pictures that you order, because they do not seem to have a menu for you to mark down like other places. This place offers Korean AND Sushi. I believe the wife makes the kitchen food and the husband makes the Sushi. They offer a really good selection of sushi rolls at a REALLY cheap price. I believe this is due to the non-existent employees and the small square footage, accounting for really low overhead. Their Summer Roll is to die for. Their bulgogi is the bomb. The only reason this place is a 4 instead of a 5 is because my salmon roll wasn’t rolled tightly enough, causing a few pieces to open up. Oh well. It was the bomb either way. I’ll definitely be back, due to it being only 4 miles from where I work. Plus, Ninja Sushi sucks. They also have japanese manga and magazines there, so feel free to look at the pictures!

Yum! I was looking for a Japanese take out and looks like I found the one! I couldn’t tell if the owner was actually Japanese, but for someone like myself who has lived in Japan for over 20 years, the food is as close as it gets for takeout! The chef is a nice guy too. Doesn’t talk much or doesn’t try to strike a conversation, but he gave me a complementary Salmon roll the other day and realized that he’s really a nice guy :) I’ve so far tried the Katsudon(amazing), and the Yakisoba(also noms) and their Natto roll! … Natto is quite the acquired taste, but personally can’t get enough of it :) If you’re in the mood for Japanese food and want to enjoy it in the comfort of your own home, of highly suggest going here!
