I wish I could give this place ZERO stars. Worst service imaginable. We sat for 20 min without receiving a server or even given a water. not to mention people passing our table and not acknowledging us, even after I asked if we could get a server. This place is a joke. I will never return. I’m not one to complain as I also work in the service industry. It was honestly that bad. With many other Sushi joints in town this crap hole will soon go out of business.

My wife and I come here regularly because we just love the Hibachi food. Lots of butter, lots of flavor. Usually slower when we come in but we usually have to wait for service and food. Service is definitely slow and forget about drink refills as waitress never returns except with the bill. We find it is much more affordable than Benihana but not the same level of service. They appear to only have one chef so if they are busy you have to wait that much longer. The dinner«show» is average to less than average. Other places the staff is more interactive. Overall good food, poor service.

So I am just so torn, this place only continues to get my business BC of the food itself. The service here is ABSOLUTEGARBAGE. The woman who runs the front is AWFUL she has the worst attitude of any hostess I’ve ever experienced before. She refused to seat me in hibachi because I was ordering alone, I spent upwards of $ 40 on hibachi and she just let me leave. She is not kind, not willing to bend for customers and overall horrible to deal with. I may have to find somewhere else now BC I cannot stand to see her anymore

This place is terrible, I don’t know where to start. They’re dirty in every aspect you could think of, they make consistent mistakes, my friends and I were there for 3 hours and a half waiting because they accidentally gave a table our chef and HADTOWAIT. Was trying to eat at benihanas but you always need a reservation there, samurai can seat u any time of the day. I wonder why. Stick to benihana people

I’m not a big fan of japanese steak houses. And I think it’s tough to mess it up, but this place was not too good. Food was simply too salty and the place isn’t the cleanest.

Typically Japanese steakhouse. Nothing stands out. The chef could have been more friendly. Very average.

Samurai Steakhouse is just like Benihana. They use a whole lot of butter, do the same tricks and you get that weird feeling in your stomach when you leave. The owner at Samurai is very nice and welcoming. There’s a hibachi side and a sushi side of the restaurant. The prices are very cheap compared to Benihana but these kind of restaurants are not my favorite. The place is empty during lunch time. The sushi is great. My favorite thing to get is the green river appetizer, and their ginger salad and dressing is very good.

Was extremely happy with the quality of food! Great quality for the price. Service was a tad bit slow but nothing to really be upset with. In my opinion this is the next best thing to benihanna. In all honesty I really couldn’t taste the difference between the two. Follow Food Porn Detroit on Instagram.

This place is NOT good. First of all, made a reservation, was seated 30 minutes after our time. Drinks took forever, waitress forgot a drink. And worst of all the food was awful. It’s like they think if they drown the food in butter and garlic seasoning that it will taste good, it didn’t. The presentation was awful, basically everything on my plate looked brown. And the noodles they served was basically spaghetti fried in too much butter. I could barely choke down my food so left hungry. Also the hibachi chef had no special tricks, not very entertaining. Definitely not authentic! I will never return.

I still stand by my previous rating and give Samurai ANOTHER1 star review for my second and final time here. My party of 7 came back again after the holiday season. Business was much slower on a Thursday night and we were seated right away for our reservation. Coming back wasn’t my idea, but I said why not… Maybe I didn’t give samurai a fair review the first time. I opted for sushi since I knew what their hibachi would to taste like. I’ve seen so many positive reviews about their sushi it’s time to put the other part of their menu to the test! I ordered a salad on the side. I really enjoyed their ginger dressing. The lettuce was very crunchy and crisp but I had to hunt down a server for chopsticks twice to actually eat it. Overall, the hibachi grill was a better experience this time around for my in laws. Hooray! My husband and I placed our orders at the same time with our hibachi loving family but there was an awkward 5 – 10 minutes after the hibachi grill was turned off before my husband and I were served our 2 sushi orders.(Spicy tuna, volcano roll and salmon nigiri). The salmon nigiri was perfect. The fish practically melted in your mouth like butter. The volcano roll and spicy tuna on the other hand were downright inedible. Typically, spicy tuna has a red sauce or tuna chunks. Samurai apparently blends/mashes everything together in a pink fusion and the rolls were fishy. The spicy tuna that was garnished on top of the volcano roll had a black pepper tint to it and tasted dry and smoked. I ate a roll and was hesitant to eat another. I asked my husband to try one since he loves spicy tuna. He almost gagged. We left 80% of the rolls on the dish and didn’t take any home. I am not one to waste food but I know that the gesture of putting the food in a take out container wouldn’t change the fact that it was the worst tuna sushi I’ve ever had in my life. I’m sorry for the negative review, but I’ve been to many sushi places and can honestly tell sushi snobs to dine elsewhere. This is not the place you’re looking for.

Came here because Walgreen photos weren’t done. Ate alone in the bar /booth area. The hibachi was packed. People looked pleased to be there and enjoying their meals. Would come back with my kids to try. Had sushi — tuna roll and miso soup and a salad. Basic but good. Left feeling very full and satisfied. I noticed the negative reviews– I wouldn’t bother with those. Everyone I saw leaving seemed happy. Lots of families or business people having dinner.

Samurai steak house is a very chill hibachi restaurant. Very friendly staff. The sushi is alright, not a fan of it. The hibachi is pretty awesome.- but just like every hibachi meal, the food has a lot of butter in it. I wouldn’t recommend getting any of the speciality drinks.

I love this place! The food is great, the portions are huge. You get noodles included which is a huge plus for me. The chefs really don’t do a great presentation but it gets tiring seeing the same show anyhow so I’m okay with it. Come out and judge for yourself

Their house salad dressing is AMAZING! People buy it by itself it’s so delicious. It’s a mild creamy ginger dressing, sort of like thousand island with ginger flavor. Yum!

It has been a long time since we had been there and decided to try it again. Food is good but the service was disappointing. They rushed us in, the chef rushed through the cooking. No one came back to refill our water. Left the table a mess.

The fish is extremely fresh and the presentation is perfection. Hibachi is always on point. Everything is delicious, and the service is great! Have been coming here for years and will continue to.

The food is very good. Just like we expected. Been to many hibachi steak houses. Unfortunately wether employees like it or not, it is an attraction, it’s a show. The cheesier and flamboyant the better. There was nothing but business here. I could see the detest in the chefs eyes when«yum yum sauce» was mentioned. Sorry guy, Benihana sold you out long ago. So… attentive wait service, good food, no show.

The food was as good as any other normal hibachi place, but the show was terrible. It really wasn’t a show, just food prepared in front of you, as the chef made no effort to entertain or interact with the guests. It’s good food but the experience is not worth the price.

Samurai has a great lunch special on their bento boxes. A ton of food for a great value. Going there during dinner rush I highly recommend avoiding it because the food and service isn’t on par. Try going during slower hours for best experience

Hibachi. Japanese Steakhouse. Dinner and a show. It’s not that hard to screw that up. Or is it? How many times can you see an onion turned into a volcano? Or a onion into a locomotive puffing out steam? I personally believe these type of restaurants need to step it up and try to get mors attention back to the food. A small party of 4 came here for my birthday. the place was less than full… so I completely understand why it was less than lackluster. It was also a Thursday evening. The food? Was nothing too tasty. The two other hibachi places in the metro Detroit area have a little bit of a step up on this place as the flavor of the food and the cooking ‘show’. Portions of course are dependent on the size of the people at your table… but you can easily leave this place very full. I don’t know though… there was just something lacking from the cooking display, and our meal that just left a sour taste in my mouth for having to pay for an over priced fancy birthday meal. Maybe it was the green tea ice cream. *shrug*
