Pollo Campero

I love this place but the service could be better. I drove from Orange County to this place for lunch (I arrived at 11:30) and there were only 4 pieces of chicken ready. I wanted the 3 piece white meat combo but the girl said we have 2 thigh, 1 leg and 1 breast. No wing. It would be 10 minutes til the next batch was ready. Seriously at 11:30 am. peak lunch hour on a Saturday?
I opted for a 2 thigh, 1 leg combo, plantains, beans, and tortillas… to consume at the restaurant. The girl messed up my beans and gave me rice. When I pointed it out, she took the plate, dumped out the rice and slopped on beans on top. I didn’t check to see if she tossed the rice or put it back in the mix.
I wish the service was better and I also wish there was one closer to Orange County. I’ll still drive an hour for the chicken. its that goo!

I saw this fast food fried chicken place walking the streets in San Juan Costa Rica and the locals said they loved it. I decided to give this place a try for lunch and it’s fried chicken with beans. Not that there’s anything wrong with that but frankly, the chicken was about on par with the crap you get at the supermarket. You know the stuff, it looks good behind the counter through the glass but once you take it home, it’s dry and flavorless. That’s pollo campero for you. No bueno. Don’t think a return trip is ever going to happen for me.
