Dickey’s Barbecue Pit

So… I wanted to try this place out a few times before writing a review. The people that work here are quite pleasant and helpful. They were nice enough both times to help me figure out how to order. As I like the service here, the food is just… Meh. Not bad but also not exceptional. A little high priced for my liking but not grossly too bad. All in all, its a decent place to eat.

Son wanted to try Dickeys again, said maybe they’ve gotten better, yeah, right ! It’s been a year and the only thing that’s changed are the people that work there… smiles like somebody told them they have to smile — slow motion, uncoordinated service — talking to each other instead of paying attention to customers… and the food has gone down hill too (1 exception is the Q sauce, it’s still very good).
Son ordered a pulled pulled pork sandwich with the baked beans and tanglers. I just had to try the pulled pork tacos and got a side of coleslaw. The sandwich bun was dried out on one side (how the heck does that happen ???) He said his beans were ok but his tanglers were soooo greasy. At least the pulled pork was not overly fatty. My tacos… don’t quite know where to start… the pulled pork was ok (not full of fat chunks like our last visit but on the No flavor side) but the tortillas were like leather, dried out leather and even the watery coleslaw they put on top didn’t seep into them, Yech… My side of slaw was incredibly watery and had no flavor.
Lock on mens restroom was broken and handle wobbly. An employee said they were going to get it fixed, they just hadn’t had time yet !!!
What the heck has happened to this place ?! When they first opened the food was really good, sides and all, and the people working there were always so pleasant.

I don’t usually post reviews of restaurants but today my family encountered by far the worst customer service ever from Dickey’s Concord. This location has ok food but employs the most disrespectful, rude, unprofessional, and unpleasant employee. This Dickey’s does not value good customer service. We left without purchasing anything and will not set foot in that place again.

I have been to 3 different Dickey’s barbecue pits and only one of them had decent food. There is no consistency from one location to the next.
This particular location served cold, fatty, flavorless food. I ordered the pulled pork tacos. The meat was cold and by itself had no flavor. The only flavor you got from the taco was the corn tortilla and the splash of BBQ sauce the put on top. Even the coleslaw on the taco was watery and flavorless.
My wife ordered ribs and brisket. Both meats were cold. The brisket was more fat than meat. And the ribs weren’t seasoned, or at least didn’t taste like they were. The roll that came with her meal was hard and dry too.
McDonalds is not great food but at least you can go to any of them and the food will taste the same. Its sad that they have better quality standards than Dickey’s.
If you want good BBQ try somewhere else. This chain sucks.

Definitely a Dickey’s fan and very fond of the free ice cream and kids eat free on Sunday’s– who doesn’t love free? I like this location better than PH. It’s bigger and seemed cleaner. The staff has changed throughout the years but they are nice and accommodating. They had a lot of call ahead orders and had us wait so they could complete one, but paid us for our wait with an extra rib. Their spicy bbq sauce is sooo yummy! I typically get the Lil-​hogie chicken sandwich and think the amount of chicken is about the same as the next size up. They also started serving pulled pork street tacos 2 for $ 3 and they are pretty tasty too!

Went back and gave this location another shot and was glad I did. Ribs were very good and tinder.

Brisket is excellant. Love this place

I love dickeys food BUT the manager has got to do a better job of staffing. 3^rd time in a month that they are understaffed, no sweet tea, no rolls… I love the food but I’m reading the point of not stopping … BTW staff that’s on duty has a great attitude despite being overworked.

Got an email from customer service asking for a number to call us at. Responded with a request for a number to call them at-​never heard from them again.
Figures-​consistent and not in a good way. Yuck.

The barbeque/​sides are ok, however, dont always expect the staff at this particular Dickey’s to be courtious/​professional (especially if one of them messes up your order). One is so exceptionally obnoxious/​rude that i will NEVER be returning. I’m not just being dramatic… it really was unbelievable.

Good food and nice staff but one time I walked into use the restroom and they told me I couldn’t use there restroom unless I was going to buy something. Very bad rule. Because of that I had to drop off some stars.

I just ate the sides– tasty baked beans, baked potato casserole (NOT vegetarian, but I didn’t expect either of them to be) decent mac & cheese and caesar salad, really good coleslaw (it’s not often that I find coleslaw particularly memorable). The BF enjoyed the ribs & pork as well. They smoke everything on site, and I think they make their own BBQ sauce, and there’s free soft-​serve ice cream!. The staff here is very friendly, it’s quick & efficient, there is easy parking. I’m a fan of this location, but can’t speak to the others.

For chain fast food BBQ this place is good when you want something easy, relatively quick, and tasty. You can purchase meat by the pound or they have sandwiches, baked potatoes, or plate dinners. They also have an assortment of traditional sides such as french fries, fried okra, baked beans, and other items. The original and spicy sauce that they have is a nice compliment to the dinner, I only wish they also had pickles and onions go go along with the food.

Dickey’s is one of my favorites and this location in particular (not too fond of the PH location).
We use the online ordering service pretty much every time. We work in the city and get back pretty late so we’re almost always getting our order 5 – 10 minutes before closing. The staff here are awesome! Always cheerful and they wait to start the fries until we get there so they aren’t soggy.
The portions are huge. We usually get a 3-​meat plate with pulled pork, sausage and chopped beef brisket (and this one actually chops it unlike PH) with the creamy dill potato salad and waffle fries to share. We usually never finish it all.
We don’t dine in often but the free ice cream is a nice touch! :)

Food is great and the staff are fast and friendly.
Portions are large and tasty.
Prices are steep but they often have coupons.

I just have to say… this Dickeys BBQ IS BY FAR AND ABOVE AMAAAZING. Yes the food is great… but most importantly the customer service is nothin short of exceptional. My husband and i just left and our experience there was 1 to share with whoever reads this. The owners were so helpful and caring. They made sure despite them closing in 10 min and not much of anything left… that we left 100% happy and satisfied. They took care of us for sur. Its RARE to meet kindhearted ppl in the restaurant industry. Because of our experience we will surly be back again and again. Thank you so much for EVERYTHING. THE WORLD NEEDS MORE PPL LIKE YOU GUYS. I just walked in for a quick snack & ordered some fries, they were really good & came out quickly, but customer service is depressing. I felt like I did something wrong to the guy. But I just asked how big the small order was & he replied with «they come in a bag». No mention of the bag size or anything.
Strange service, good fries!

One star is for the food taste only.
This location is not friendly. The employees are rude and not welcoming. The food was ok, sides tasted old however. Then a large party came in behind us, over 20 people, and wanted to sit in the empty back corner of the restaurant, and we’re told they were not welcome! This store does not want business. I won’t be back. I’ll make the further drive to the little store in PH

There aren’t that many barbecue options in Concord and this place has a good selection and convenient location. I like the ribs, brisket, and spicy cheese sausage. The mac and cheese is cheesy, though it’s more cheesy sauce versus a rue and baked in cheese. In the end, it’s just good barbecue.

I love traveling. I love seeing new landmarks, meeting new people, and trying local foods. I love it! But sometimes it spoils me and ruins what is readily available for me.
Case in point, barbecue. The best I have ever had can be found in the South. Am I in the South? No, sirree, I am in California, which ordinarily speaking, I am happy about. Except when I want barbecue and fried chicken, etc.
I went to Dickey’s on a Sunday since they have free kid’s meals with every meal order. We ordered a 2-​meat meal and the kid’s meal and what the daughter and I ended up sharing on our table was the pulled pork, chicken breast, and ribs, and mac-​and-​cheese, and the barbecue beans. The orders were more plentiful than how it initially looks like in the tray. Everything looked and smelled wonderful!
The food was okay. The meats did not wow us but they did not disappoint us either. The potato salad was delicious, the barbecue beans were alright, but the mac-​and-​cheese was rather bland even though the texture was lovely. Our meal filled us up, and we still had some leftovers (mind, this is just one regular meal and a smaller kid’s meal, and the daughter can really truly eat — they do not skimp on the food). The free ice cream after the meal was much appreciated.
We will be back some other Sunday. It is not their fault that their barbecue do not hold up to the fantastic barbecue I have had in one of my travels, after all.
