It’s as simple as this, we decided we liked our couch but it just needed new springs. Called Howards and got talking to Chuck who sorted us right out — even went the extra mile and helped us set up the new cushions for easy install. Fast, easy, affordable and most of all — quality from a local vendor. Thank you Chuck.

The workmanship at Howards is the best I’ve ever experienced. We chose a very difficult chevron style pattern for the upholstering of our outdoor furniture on June 14. Every stitched edge matches up, and incredibly, so does every covered button. It’s like he was tailoring a $ 5,000 suit. Chuck Walker, the owner and craftsman of Howard’s, took somewhat longer than I expected, but it was worth the wait. He is so busy helping satisfied clients, he’s promising work out 6 — 8 weeks. He worked the Labor Day weekend to get our chairs finally done, and to us, that was above and beyond. We received raves from our dinner guests. They use the best Sunbrella material and stuffing/​padding that won’t rot or retain water. To us, he’s the only game in town. The chairs are gorgeous and are good for many long years of beautiful use. Worth every penny.

This place was highly recommended to me a couple of years ago so I brought a chair in to be reupholstered. Once I met this Chuck I found his personality to be rude, gruff, and unfriendly. After waiting a couple of months with no word, I called to find out he hadn’t even started on it. When it was finally finished, the workmanship was barely adequate and the cost of his labor was exorbitant. I also discussed with him recently the possibility of reupholstering my couch. After several discussions with him and his rude and negative attitude and his outrageous labor estimate, I quit dealing with him and went elsewhere, Thank God. If you don’t believe what I’m saying go find out for yourself how rude and unprofessional he is. And let’s not forget the mediocre workmanship.

We just picked up our antique ladderback chair. Chuck and his partner did an amazing job. The houndstooth fabric was matched perfectly. The old antique had to be taken apart to be upholstered. All of the pieces had been hand joined, so the reassembly was particularly difficult. We couldn’t be happier with the results.

What a pleasure to work with this company!!! Chuck and his design assistant, Jannine, made creative suggestions and went over every detail of our project to ensure our satisfaction. We have an unusually long and wide wooden bench along our swimming pool. With their help, we decided to have them make four large cushions to cover it. Chuck’s work was impeccable! The cushions are gorgeous, and truly enhance the ambience of our pool area. The cost of the work was reasonable, and completed when promised. We could not be more pleased, and look forward to our next project with them. They even returned yesterday with matching snap-​straps to use in the event of the return of those crazy winds that we recently experienced. Chuck just wanted to ensure that we won’t have a mishap of a floating cushion. Incredible work and attention to detail! They go above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction!

I just asked Chuck if he would upholster the pads on my boat trailer and OMG! he matched the red color of my trailer with a Red outdoor Sumbrella fabric that is water resistant and finished off the underside which is the side that will be seen. Beautiful and custom just for me! Howards Upholstery Rocks! Chuck thinks everything through and the end result is AWESOME!!!

Avoid this place at all cost. Owner is rude, profane and very unprofessional. Dumpy little shop and crabby rude owner. Sound like a place you’d like to spend money?
I was treated much better at another shop located in Walnut Creek just off the 680.
