We’ve decided to try eat restaurant in Turkey Creek. This is #2 of our adventure and it was delicious! I have the fajita steak salad and it was very good.

Rather disappointing and bland, if you’re used to more authentic Mexican food, as my husband and I are. Maybe Knoxville Mexican food is a different breed, but this Texas girl was looking forward to something spicier and more like home(TexMex). On the upside, the prices are reasonable for the copious amount of food they give you. The place is popular. I guess it just depends on what you prefer…

The Spinach Quesadillas I ordered here is probably the best I’ve had in my life. Servers are pretty attentive but one problem is the parking slots are inadequate especially during lunch time.

I will always remember my friends at Parilla for their roasted chicken. I mean. This stuff is so goooooood! I ordered a chicken taco and it came served with the most flavorful and juicy shredded chicken that was slow roasted with some kick in the rear. I swear it must be the green chiles. That chicken is tops. The taco shell came from the store. Beans are rice are bland. The tamale was oddly shaped. It wasn’t flat. It was like a long roll or encasing of meat. It looked like a masa hot dog. no thanks. beyond that most of the food is like your typical americanized style of mexican food. Server was fine.

This place is pretty sweet! I came from So Cal to visit and this place reminds me of Maxx’s in the San Gabriel valley. Great prices amazing portions. Definitely would recommend this place to all my friends and family!

We stopped here on out way through town. WARNING: this La Parrilla in Knoxville is NOTPART of the La Parrilla restaurant chain in and around metro Atlanta area! I wrongly assumed it was. That said, cheese dip and tacos were good. Best I’ve had in Knoxville for the price. Service was fast, efficient. Restaurant was clean, kept in good condition. Good time was had by all.

Went here while passing through on Valentine’s Day. Great atmosphere with valentine’s balloons and Mexican décor, and greeted in Español. They have modelo on draft. Lots of customers for Sunday lunch, but got a table instantly, and they gave us chips n salsa before menus. The food takes a lot of time to prepare, but it’s delicious. I split a combo w burritos n Chile rellano, both great. The tortillas aren’t the best but everything else was. Finished it off with churros n ice cream. Bill was 20 $

Cheap eats and their hot salsa is spicy! I came here in search of the fajita molcajete. I’ve recently been searching out this dish because its gluttonous. It’s actually perfect to share between two. If you get the larger size, I’m pretty sure it’ll feed 3 – 4. It comes with tortilla, rice, and beans. Molcajete(mole-ca-het-tay): a traditional mexican version of mortar and pestal. Inside this bubbling red sauced dish, you will find shrimp, steak, chicken, green peppers, onions, cactus, and queso fresco. Substitute in the black beans instead of the refried. Ask for no onions, if they are considered poison to you. As far as the drinks goes, they have a variety of margaritas and select beers. They can pretty make anything you want. I ordered the top shelf margarita with a corralejo substitute $ 8.99ish. That pretty much is half the price of the main entrée. Well, we left here feeling full with leftovers in hand.

I’ve giving them 3 stars because the food was decent but the service was terrible. I think 2 ½ stars would be more justified. I had two burritos — chicken and beef — both were pretty good but(i’m not 100% sure of this) it was supposed to come with refried beans — they didn’t make it. My wife ordered soup but we don’t think it was what she ordered. However since the service was so bad she didn’t try to get it replaced or even tell the waiter. It took 45 minutes to get our food. Basically we filled up on salsa, which was good. I liked the salsa but it took too long to get our meal. Overall the food, or at least mine, was decent but the service is terrible. I don’t know if that’s there normal so you have to make your own decision as to go or not.

This is my favorite Mexican place in Knoxville! Service is always great and food is so flavorful and fresh! I especially love that they know how to cut their veggies up. I hate going to other places that cut them in huge chunks and they never get cooked all the way. The fajita bowl is amazing! So many flavors! Everything cooked perfectly! Highly recommend it.

We have been coming to this restaurant for 7 years and the food is consistently good, however the service has slipped over the years. Not as attentive as they once were.

Typical mexican food and menu. Has a nice atmosphere and the staff was very friendly. I ordered the carne asada which did not appear to be a very good piece of meat(not bad per se just mediocre) such as the diez millo but had pretty good seasoning. Their horchata was pretty good though. Made for a nice dessert to go. Swing by if your in the area and crave the mexican-american cuisine.

We eat here about once a week and have never been disappointed. This is real authentic Mexican food. It’s a far cry from the standard franchised Mexican restaurants. Everything from the rice and salsa to the Horchata is prepared fresh daily, in house. The Queso dip is not to be missed. I’ve enjoyed every menu item from their extensive, freshly prepared menu that I have ordered. Some favorites include Monterrey fish, Popeye Chicken and the seafood burrito. La Parilla also features a full service bar and a nice selection of draft and bottled beers. Once you’ve enjoyed authentic Mexican dishes, such as the delights served at this fine establishment, you’ll never look back.

I’m only giving two stars, because I do like the food, just not the service. I have order from there a few times, takeout, and almost every time my order is wrong. I ordered today, and as expected, it was wrong. The lady didn’t offer to fix it. She just kept telling me what was ordered. I order for a group of people at work. We called back and she told us that they would have fixed it if I had asked. I told her twice that it was wrong. She should have insisted on fixing it. It would have been fine if it only happened occasionally, but this is ridiculous. I won’t be ordering there again. I don’t think the other staff will be either.

«Best fajitas of my whole life… I don’t think I can ever go to another Mexican restaurant without being disappointed. You know it’s good when you crave it.» Honest quote from my fiancé. If you get anything other than the Fajita Molcajetes you’re absolutely doing it wrong and we can not be friends.(Don’t quote me on that spelling btw) If it’s your first time or your 50th time here, you have GOT to try those fajitas. Sure, they have the normal, run of the mill, 5 pieces of meat on a boring flat plate fajitas, BUT they also have these absolutely crazy, amazing, perfect in every way, fajitas that come in a massive stone bowl with all the ooey gooey goodness overflowing! The Fajita Molcajetes, ladies and gentlemen! *oooh ahhh* The single serving is massive(the two of us hardly make a dent in it) and packed full of beef!, pork!, chicken!, shrimp!, onions!, peppers!, cheese! All the things! AND here’s a little something adventurous for you, it has a chunk of cactus hanging out on the side. Sure it’s not for everyone, but give it a shot! Pro tip: save some of your queso for the tacos you’ll make out of the fajitas. Amaze! And no Atlanta people, this is not the La Parilla you’re looking for. This is a totally different run than the ones back home, so don’t expect those thin flour chips(miss those so much) or la Parilla dip.

My son is not a fan of Mexican cuisine, however, he is a fan of La Parilla. He loves their El Coyote burrito. The burrito is huge and stuffed to bursting point with steak, chicken, shrimp. Last order I had Fajitas Texanas and the flavor was good, but not overly exciting. I’m just not a big fajita fan. I am, however, a big fan of margaritas so I give their Monster Lime mugs ++

Pretty good Mexican food. Presently surprised wasn’t really planning on eating here but after a stop after shopping I turkey creek it was a welcome relaxation after a day of shopping. Re fried beans were a little too thin for me with not much seasoning. Burrito had a lot of flavor– very good! Margaritas were good not too strong and not too much sweet and sour. Will be back!

We needed a quick meal in our travels. This fit the bill AND the food was authentic tasting Mexican! Pork carnitas were excellent. My husband enjoyed the beef tamale and taco. Refried beans and rice were okay(which honestly is also authentic Mexican :)

We came here on a Saturday night, wanting to get a quick, casual dinner. Due to the incredible overload of choices at Turkey Creek, we settled on a food genre and went from there. We have La Parrilla in Atlanta, which is pretty good, so I think I had that thought in my mind when we settled on this joint. Plus, the reviews looked pretty good, and hubby was intrigued by mexican pork ribs. On we went. We walked by Seasons and I almost changed my mind — I wish I had. The outdoor seating with white tablecloths, beautiful jazz music, and glasses of wine looked perfect, but we went on to La Parrilla. As soon as we opened the door, I should have turned around. The interior looks and smells like every other mexican restaurant you’ve been to, and the soundtrack is the same too(and it was blaring here). Nothing unique or special and definitely not the same as the La Parrilla chain in ATL. Luckily, they had an outdoor seating area and we were instantly seated. We sat outside and that was the best part of our experience since it was such a nice night out. Our waiter brought us chips and salsa and I ordered a raspberry margarita, to which he responded, «We have those?» so I pointed on the menu and got one on the rocks. It was okay — really just super sweet raspberry syrup; I couldn’t even taste the tequila. I do not recommend. We ordered the guacamole mexican, which was really really good. It came with cucumber slices and you got to mix it at your table. The flavors were super fresh and delicious. YUM. This was the highlight of our meal and the only item I recommend. I should pause here to note that the chips were cold and thick and the salsa was not spicy and very heavy on the cumin. It made it easy not to gorge on chips and salsa pre-dinner. They were nothing special at all. I wish they had a hot salsa… I ordered shrimp fajitas and hubby got the pork ribs. Sigh. My shrimp fajitas were fine — it was a HUGE portion, but there was no terrific flavor on the shrimp, and there was no char on the shrimp either — they seemed more stewed in to the tomatoes than crispy, grilled fajita shrimp like I have received at similar mexican restaurants. I’ve definitely had better shrimp fajitas and shrimp tacos elsewhere so this was a bummer. The rice and beans were also flavorless. My entire meal just seemed to lack seasonings, which is so weird since the guacamole had delicious flavor. Hubby was very disappointed in the ribs. They were parboiled and then covered in a yummy flavorful green chile. The texture was just off. If they had been parboiled, then grilled, and then topped with that yummy sauce, they would have been terrific. As they were, they were mushy meh. Both of us didn’t come close to finishing our plates — we really should have split an entrée due to the portion size. Worse, even without finishing it all, we both felt very full and gross afterwards. As we left, I asked hubby to remind me that unless I’m eating a taco salad(i.e. only lettuce and protein — no rice or beans) or 1 – 2 tacos, I really shouldn’t eat at mexican restaurants like this anymore. There’s nothing worse than feeling icky on a Saturday night because of your dinner. And here’s why I’m downgrading LP from a 2 start to a one star rating: my husband, with his stomach of steel, got horrible food poisoning from those ribs. I had eaten everything else as him all day, even at LP, except for the ribs, and I didn’t get sick aside from feeling bloaty and gross. They just didn’t look good and now we know why… Severe vomiting, uncontrollable shaking cramps, fever, the works(posting that tidbit more for the EIS officers that monitor foodborne illness across our country than for my Unilocalers…). Not worth it! With all the other restaurants at Turkey Creek, I wouldn’t recommend this place at all, unless you just reallllllllllllllllllllllly need some cheapo mexican food or want to sit outside with some really good guacamole and beer. If your food looks suspicious, be warned — you could get sick!

This is not my favorite Mexican restaurant in Knox, but Abuelo’s in Farragut is simply not an option. Plus happy hour runs until 7:00. Sweet! The prices are decent and the menu is actually pretty vast. I got the Degollado(I think) and it was fajita style chicken with rice and beans. It was good, but a bit salty. The salsa was great, but I wasn’t a fan of the ranch type dressing they also brought with the chips. Anywho, go and enjoy. It’s a small family restaurant that meets your Mexican food cravings while shopping in Turkey Creek.
