Appears to be CLOSED. Boo, hoo. The phone number on their website says«no longer in service.» I hope this is incorrect.

Sadly, this shop is now CLOSED. Went with my youngest son to purchase his first stick on his birthday. It’s our family tradition to get all our boards from this shop and was disappointed to find it CLOSED. Hope it’s just another move as they were once over by DVC before they moved closer to SunValley Mall. We went to Milo Sport in Lafayette instead, good shop but really missed the Metro experience for the youngest.

I’ve been taking my boys to Metro since they were little guys(over 9+ years). Joel, the owner, is amazing as a skater and as a mentor. He has always taken the time to talk to me and my boys. You can talk to Joel about anything and he’s always engaged. He will never steer you into buying something that isn’t appropriate just to make a sale. His caring of all the kids is evident. Metro also puts on really great summer skate camps which my kids always took part in and they LOVED it. Joel and the staff take the kids to different skate parks around the bay and help them with technique. I never worried because I knew Joel really cared about the kids and wouldn’t let them do anything unsafe. Once you go to Metro, you’re family to Joel and his wife Kate. My kids became tremendous skaters and found friends they will have for life. Support a local small business owner trying to make a difference with a huge heart. If I never said it before, Joel, thank you.

Bought my 5-year-old his first board at Metro a few weeks ago and have been back to try out the in-store ramp. This shop is great. The owner is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. We really wanted to support a local business with actual knowledge about skateboards and we definitely chose the right place. I highly recommend Metro!

Great lil shop! Always have what I need. Also have a rad mini ramp inside, and some DIY crete in the lot, go check em out! Keeping it the way skateboarding should be kept.

I was out in Walnut Creek… This shop is a good one. I dunno much about Walnut Creek — looks pretty strip mallish and generic from the outsider’s pov. This skateboard shop, counter to my whole preconceived viewpoint and expectations for this town, completely blew me away. They carry a lot of stuff from the better and not completely sold-out skate companies — Black Label, Antihero, Zero, etc. Tons of Deluxe’s stuff. Good jeans selection. Some tees and flannels, jackets and skate shoes. Didn’t see much women’s or girl’s stuff specifically — is it needed? They have a small indoor halfpipe in the shop which patrons can use. There is a cement area out back to skate. That’s cool. The owner encourages a lot of interaction and community skate-focused participation — gatherings, videos, contests, bands, etc — good!!! This area looks like it needs a dose of some authentic skate culture in this way so all the kids out here have a chance to grow up truly appreciating that SF(aka Skate Mecca) is as close as can be and the creative skate influences can still reach them. Not just all that mall sort of skate crap. So great that people who have been around and seen some things sometimes end up moving to unexpected areas and infuse these places with their good stuff! … And get the next generations rolling in a good direction.

I must agree with the first 2 reviews, METRO is the real deal. Joel the owner has been killing it for over 10 years across from the mall which has at least 3 shops selling skateboards. FUCKTHEM, SUPPORTMETRO! Video premieres, check, shop signings, check, local spot knowledge, check, sick shop team, check, sweet contests, check, skate camp, check. What are you waiting for?

Hands down the best skate shop in the bay area. Not just can you get boards, shoes and/or clothes, for a small fee you can skate a stellar ramp in the back of the store that is also very fun. Plus Joel is a good guy, so support him.
