Hands down the best Indian restaurant in the Concord-Walnut Creek area. This place is hidden so it can be easy to miss. However, I’ve eaten at a lot of Indian restaurants and I think this place has great potential to become a go-to indian dining choice. The other indian restaurants in concord(Swagat and Naan and Curry need to learn a few things from these guys) I’ve been here twice so far and the food has been consistently good. I start off with the Malai chicken tikka(to die for) and then for mains the chicken tikka masala and garlic naan. The CTM curry was spiced perfectly and the chicken was tender and fresh. The naan was thin and hot, just how I like it. Being Indian, I am very skeptical and picky about trying new places however this place exceeded my expectations. Definitely JB approved.

So, I had never had indian food. I am trying to try new things and be culturally diverse. Unilocal reviews kept pointing me towards this place and being a buffet, I could try all sorts of things instead of ordering blindly. Took my mom. She had an Indian food and told me «curry» and«naan». Sure enough, Indian food is a lot of curry as well as other sauces and rice and naan. I left full. I enjoyed the experience. Is it for me? Probably not. The veggies were too fried. The goat was better than the chicken. The rice was flavored well. My mom liked the chicken wings. If Indian food is what u r craving then I am sure this place is excellent. Was clean and friendly and reasonable

I wish that there was a way to send a comment to a restaurant without posting a review. I didn’t eat here. I’ve read the great Unilocal, and love Indian lunch buffets. I walked in at 1245 pm. There were no employees in evidence, and only 2 or 3 tables with customers. I went to look at the buffet before deciding to sit down. I didn’t pay much attention to the variety on the buffet — more than half the steam dishes appeared to have been sitting there very a very long time. Not exaggerating — there were hard crusts formed over at least half of the dishes. I was disappointed as this place has great reviews. The food under the crusts may have been great. A little more attention by staff members would have prevented this reaction — a buffet needs to be monitored. Dishes should be stirred regularly, and some items need to be timed and replaced at intervals. I left. I’m guessing the staff members never saw me come or go.

First time here on our roadtrip and definitely became fan of this restaurant in the downtown Concord. Excellent service to start with, and then the menu is concise and tasteful. We ordered variety of dishes, Samosa Chole, Veg Kolhapuri, Lamb Curry, Chicken Tikka Masala… Beware they provide well sized portions! If you have not visited them yet, no harm in visiting once!!!

Checked this place out for their lunch buffet. The service was great, price was average($ 10 without a soft drink) and the food was pretty good. No real standout items, though. Previous reviews said the menu was particularly spicy… but I didn’t find that to be the case, at least with the buffet items.

A-OK. Super friendly service. The naan was delicious. Esp the garlic naan. Like pillows of dough. The Aloo Gobi was a little watery. Tikki Masala was decent as well. Probably 4 stars for the area. But my go to favorite Indian place is still Masala Cuisine in Oakland!

So tell me what you want, what you really really want! Oops, that’s Spice Grill, not Girls.:) Gayle and I came here for an early Saturday evening dinner with a $ 30 Groupon in hand. We almost couldn’t spend it all, as the food was both plentiful and reasonably priced, and that there was no alcohol on the menu. And of course we tipped on the full amount. Spice Grill is a little hard to find, although it’s just off Todos Santos Plaza. Maybe that explains why the restaurant seemed a little quiet for the excellent food and value that Spice Grill offers. In other words, I really hope they stay in business. One of the many advantages of good Indian food(besides the flavors and spices) is that this is where both meat eaters and vegetarians can easily enjoy a wonderful meal together. Gayle and I have also been looking for good Indian Cuisine since Monsoon Masala closed in nearby Pleasant Hill. We both agree that we have found such a place and hope to be back soon.

Will I dine here again? YES! My daughter and I love Indian food, so after going to a movie, we went to Spice Grill for a late lunch. The buffet looked tempting, but we ordered off the menu. Everything is ordered separately, including rice and naan. That is always fine with us since we share what we order. The person taking our order and serving our food was very friendly and attentive. She did warn us that ordering off the menu would take a bit longer. We were fine with that also. She must run into impatient customers. We ordered a vegetable starter called pakora. It had bite size pieces of vegetables, lightly battered with a chickpea flour batter, then deep fried. Then we had orders of lamb shish kebab and chicken tikka shish kebab, along with small bowls of jasmine rice. And naan of course! Every dish was flavorful, well made and well presented. My daughter also ordered butter chicken to go. She called me after eating the dish to let me know it was excellent. The prices were very reasonable. The service timely and friendly. The food excellent.

Had an order of the Paneer Makhani Masala(~$ 9): homemade cottage cheese cooked with bell peppers and tomatoes. Also had an order of the Malai Kofta(~$ 9): mixed vegetable balls cooked in an onion, tomato, and cashew sauce. Food was delicious, staff was gregarious, and the ambiance was cozy.

This was our third visit for the lunch buffet at the Spice Grill. We have been there a couple of times for the sit down dinner as well. We had really liked this place so far mainly because of the flavorful food they served. Although I still want to like this place, I must say that in a nutshell this place is going downhill. Here are some of my suggestions directly to the owner; — Try to keep the dishes at the right temperature in the buffet. A couple of dishes were stone cold. This is not acceptable. Some of the dishes were at a very high heat and were almost boiling. — We went there around 1Pm. By no means was this near closing time. Goat Biryani was almost empty when we started and was never filled up till we finished our meal! Please fill up, don’t expect people to ask every time. — The tandoori chicken was so rubbery probably coz it was sitting on the heating burner for a long time. I am not expecting the freshness of a ‘made to order’ tandoori but c’mon, you can do better than that. I think we still have room for good Indian restaurants in the inland East Bay area. I thought Spice Grill was a great addition. Your goat curry is still one of the best we have tasted in the bay area. Your chicken curries very flavorful and not all cream like most Indian restaurants. Spice Grill has great potential. Hopefully you can keep it together and pay attention to the little things which are broken. I could have easily given 4 stars based on my past visits. But based on my most recent experience I am struggling to go beyond 3 stars.

This place is sooo yummy. One of the best indian places I’ve been to. The murgh tikka masala is one of the best! The grilled tandoori chicken is good too if you don’t feel like having the creamy curry which can’t be too healthy. The vegetable biryani is soo flavorful and their garlic naan is always fresh out of the oven. We prefer to go for dinner rather than lunch buffet because the lunch buffet doesn’t offer the lamb seekh kabob that we have to get because its amazing! Never thought I’d eat lamb but I have to admit, it’s good and packed with flavor. The lunch buffet is full of the plainer items. They are very nice there but the service is usually slow because there’s always been only one waitress the four times we’ve been there. I know they’re new so I hope they’re there to stay! Way better than what was there before!

Went to Spice Grill with my wife and a friend tonight. We enjoyed three entrees and loads of Naan bread(one with lamb cooked inside!) Very good food and the meat was tender and delicious! We had: Goat Curry(fantastic), Chicken Marsala, and Lamb Kabob. All were first rate. We had an appetizer as well, I believe it was fried cheese of some kind with sauces, which was very good. Service was attentive and fast, despite one newer employee learning the ropes(but she did fine). Overall, my wife and I plan to go back when its time for the lunch buffet: D

I would probably give this place 3.5÷5 stars if I could. I was REALLY sad when Biryani Mania closed but I tried this place out, and it’s turned into an all right buffet.(I still miss all of Biryani’s options and how cheap they were, but that might be the exact reason they had to close.) We went right around 2:30 and they were closing at 3:00, so I don’t know if that was just their lunch break and they do traditional dinners later or it’s a lunch only place(I should’ve checked). Anyway, buffet is the only option but there are some good choices. I particularly liked their Okra dish. My husband and I ate all they had left of it. The tikka masala was good and the Chickpea/Daal was actually a lot more flavorful than I’m used to. Almost everything here is quite spicy, though. I loved it — the hubby needed to use a little yogurt sauce and mango pudding to cool down, but he still enjoyed it :) The actually biryani rice’s were ok. I liked the goat dish, but my husband did not. Goat’s tricky. We both thought the red kidney bean dish and the plain chicken curry were blah, but maybe it was just in comparison to the other super spicy dishes we were given. All you can eat naan is nice :) And the said mango pudding tasted like mango mochi in pudding form. Pretty interesting! It’s a decent, fast, pretty good Indian buffet if you’re looking for that sort of thing. I do recommend if you like spicy food and like buffets! If you’re looking for a traditional dining experience or anything milder, I would avoid it.

Loved the vegetarian selection of the lunch buffet. At least 5 veggie dishes to devour! Naan was sent to my table steamy and hot! Yum. Service with a smile Love it I will be back!

Finally, a great Indian restaurant in my hometown! Spice Grill ambitiously combines delicious food, attentive service, reasonable prices, and tasteful white linen décor, making it the perfect dining spot for couples, families, or groups alike. The food is prepared fresh and is flavorful, wholesome, and non-greasy. The rogan josh is amazing and cooked with just the right amount of spice. The gulab jamuns are also a huge hit: warm, soft, and appropriately soaked in syrup!

Let’s begin by saying that I am not a ‘fan’ of Indian food — I am a FANATIC. It’s alarming how much of it I can eat in one sitting, and then there’s Spice Grill with their lunch buffet and I just go all fat kid crazy. This place is a true delight. The naan was spot on — tender, fluffy and had just a hint of yeasty sweetness that comes along with fresh, well made bread. The chicken tikka masala was creamy and mild. I do like my food spicy so I’m curious about the dinner version and if they can spice it up for me some more. But let’s get to the real meat(ha! get it?) of this review. They have goat curry. Daily. One more time — goat. curry. DAILY. It was fantastic quality goat — not super game-y(it should be a little) and, dare I say, slightly sweet? As though the goat had been eating alfalfa instead of regular hay; clearly they have a good supplier. The sauce was perfection. Slightly nutty and spicy, with a cinnamon/clove/all spice/corriander thing happening that was a true delight. Again, goat. curry. DAILY. Lastly, but not least of all, the service was wonderful. Spectacular attention to our table without being pushy or in the way. Friendly, fast and she answered all our questions. Go here. Do it. You’ve been waiting for this level of quality in our area and now here’s your chance to support a great local place. It kicks Naan ‘n’ Curry’s ass in both food and service. It’s located FACING Wells Fargo, behind Happy Roll, so search a little and you’ll be happy you did.

I Had Spice Grill Indian Food Today and it was pretty damn good. They do a buffet from 11 – 2:30. I showed up an hour after the buffet closed and they were still willing to let me get down on the buffet. I tried a few of their items in the buffet and they were all seasoned nicely. I opted to order Chicken Tikka Masala, Rice, and Naan. It was came out quicker than naan n curry, Cheaper, cleaner, and tasted better. They were very accommodating and polite. I will definitely be bringing my friends back for buffet and ordering take out for lunch. The pricing is very accurate. I think once they get a website up and running will also really help people decide to come here.

I have been waiting for a place like this for years. I went there with my coworker for lunch and between the two of us sampled a variety of their buffet. It was all fantastic. I would recommend that you stop by if you like Indian food.

I stopped by looking for Biryani Mania and found out that it was replaced with a different restaurant, Spice Grill. The cashier told me that they opened three weeks ago. I glanced over their menu and found a lot of good, classical Northern Indian items, with different sections for biryani, curries, chicken, lamb, and vegetarian options. They also had a dessert list of 4 – 5 options. Most Indian restuarants offer Gulab Jamun(those sugar-saturated round donut holes) and not much else. Not this place! I ordered the Chicken Biryani($ 9), Aloo Gobi($ 7), and a piece of Garlic Naan($ 1.50). Overall, the food was excellent. Portions were very generous. The Biryani could have easily fed two very hungry people, and for a styrofoam take-out tray they literally packed it full! Spicy rice cooked with lots of chicken meat that wasn’t dry at all. Even the presentation was nice, with some green leafy garnished sprinkled atop the bed of colorful rice. The Aloo Gobi(Cauliflower and Potatoes) was cooked perfectly — veggies had plenty of spicy-salty flavor and plenty of texture left. The Garlic Naan was also pretty good — a bit on the salty side though. Will definitely keep this one on the list — its somewhat pricier than Naan and Curry on Salvio but quality wise its on par. Plus, the portion sizes and menu variety are large plusses. The other benefit is that there’s a large parking lot.
