Only one star because I cannot leave zero. They practice bait and switch tactics and clearly have no customer service. We were told $ 79 for an eye exam with no insurance but if I have AAA it would be $ 59. Great, made an appointment and they charged me $ 79 What? They said its NEVER $ 59 you must be confused, excuse me? Really? Then what does the AAA card give me? Oh its $ 89 eye exam less $ 10 for $ 79. Hmmm so everyone is charged differently now? Plus the AAA website specifically says 30% discount on comprehensive eye exams from independent doctors of optometry located at or next to Target Optical at participating locations. Exams include comprehensive eye exams and does not include contact lens exams or fitting.(U.S. Only) which was not honored nor even acknowledged.

Horrendous. I went here two years ago because I really needed an eye exam and will never forget the experience. First, the receptionist(her name was Renee when I went) talked on her cell phone the entire time she used the optical machines to screen my eyes. She never explained what she was doing, but I’d had eye exams before so thankfully I understood what the two machines were for. Then, I saw Dr. Bynum. Sadly I can’t believe he still practices optometry. I can’t wear certain contact lenses due to needing a very specific size and base curve, my old contacts had been discontinued, and I basically had to tell him what lens I wanted to try because he couldn’t figure it out. I did extensive research on lenses before my appointment, but expected some help. He ended up writing a «prescription» for a pair of trial lenses for contacts that don’t offer trial lenses. I wasn’t able to get contacts at all, which was the whole reason for my visit. PLUS, the worst part – my vision prescription for glasses and contacts that I was given was so off that it was laughable. I ended up going to Charlotte Eye Ear Nose & Throat later, and they could not believe the discrepancy. My husband joked that it was like I’d gone to see someone out of their van for my eyes. I have great insurance, but encourage everyone to stay away from here at all costs – insurance or not. I’ve never had such a bad experience from someone in the medical field. Plus, I had to pay twice to get the care I was looking for. Not happy at all.

Dr. Bynum desperately needs to work on his«bedside» manner. He made me feel very uncomfortable during my first visit. He spoke to me in a very condescending tone, as though I were being scolded for something. I didn’t see him wash his hands or sanitize equipment and drops were used in my eyes that had been opened previously. The facilities were cramped and seemed technologically limited. On a better note, the receptionist was extremely friendly and the fact that they are open on weekends is convenient. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning for another visit.
