We’ve gone to Coyote Crossing a bunch of times over the past 10 years and always had a positive experience. The last time we went was probably 2 years ago. It’s a bit out of the way for us but my husband wanted to go tonight, so we did. The food was ok and our waiter, Jim, was attentive. I ordered the chicken enchiladas, which I always order when I go there because they are delicious. cheesy and covered in tomatillo sauce. Tonight, however, I can’t say that the enchiladas were the same, which was somewhat disappointing, especially given the price. There’s an issue here with quality and consistency that the owner/chef needs to address. The cheese was borderline-burned and there was hardly any tomatillo sauce to speak of. The only thing that saved the dish was the chicken. The rest of the dish was just incredibly dry. I can honestly say that my homemade enchiladas come out better and I’m not even Mexican! Also, the delicious tres leches cake that used to be on the dessert menu is no more. Another disappointment. Good thing I have a recipe for that too. My husband, however, enjoyed his dish. I see the owner responding to a lot of negative reviews. I’m not totally knocking this place, because I do think it has potential, but they need to go back to how it was 10 years ago. The dining room used to be packed and tonight we were one of few tables. Maybe I will try coming back, but only after I see more recent positive reviews. I don’t usually post negative reviews, or any reviews for that matter, but it would be a shame for this place to go completely downhill when it really used to be a great place for Mexican food with nice ambiance.

The outside décor is nice. However the food is overpriced and very greasy. I could actually see a pile of grease In my enchiladas. The sauce tasted like a soup & lacked authenticity. Be prepared for mosquitos bites unless you bring bug spray! I hope there can be some improvements because I can see potential.

This is the first bad review I’ve ever posted of a restaurant, having waited tables for 10 years I am usually pretty understanding when it comes to that stuff. But for this place I’ll break my streak. The food is okay but the service is horrendous. My server came to my table only twice in an HOUR and twenty minutes! Once to get my order and once to give me my check after I spent 15 minutes trying to flag him down. I sat down at 6:50 and didnt get out of there til 8:10 and all I ordered was a seltzer with lime and a quesadilla. They charge $ 2.50 for seltzer which would be fine except that I never got one refill, again in over an hour. Everyone was looking around for their servers all night and it wasn’t even crowded. To top it all off they overcharged me on my bill, the price wasn’t what was in the menu(which is already overpriced if you ask me). Wrote to the manager directly. No response. It is verrryy clear that they don’t care about their customers. They seemed super understaffed and are rediculously over priced. Everyone I’ve talked to has had similar experiences! How do they stay in business? Its a real shame too because the outside area is so cute and it’s right down the road, but my roommates or I will not be back. :(

I’ve been here twice and was disappointed each time. Quick summary: overpriced, slow service, bland food.

Coyote Crossing is Amazing. The service is good, the Margs are strong and tasty and the food is amazing. I just moved to Conshy from LA and the the food here is better than anything I had out there including super high end expensive places. The vibe is super relaxed but classy and I can bring my two year old daughter here without any weird looks. Definitely the best mexican food I have ever had.

Food was good. Drinks were excellent. Waiter was top notch gave suggestions on drinks and food items that meet our needs. Owner was walking around and talking to the tables. He was very nice and present. Outdoor seating was great.

Not mexican food. American food. Very disappointing. Many years ago this place was a great local out of the way spot, worth the time to get there. Now its a long slow meal of bad food. I felt as though my blood was dripping from my body as I prayed for my death. The staff was very nice and the service was wonderful. My only advice is to destroy the menu. Take off all of the american items and attempt to have authentic mexican food. Start with the wings and the poppers – those are american bar food. Add unique items, cook with spice, be creative. Generally mexican food isn’t bland; unless you are at the coyote crossing. Also, the rice was crunchy and awful.

Excellent southwestern cuisine in a great outdoor eating ambience. The shrimp special dinner is one of the best meals I’ve ever eaten out. Highly recommend this restaurant especially if you want a memorable outdoor dining experience.

Loved the food and the margaritas. The queso dip and fajitas were excellent. After living in San Diego and traveling to Mexico several times, it was nice to find some quality Mecican food on the East Coast. This is not just your average taco stand quality food — it’s way better.

Food is just alright, prices are a bit high and the drinks aren’t that special either. The combo appetizer(botanas) was dumb and just a plate full of cheese basically. Not super flavorful. The chicken enchiladas were tasty but room temp which wasn’t appetizing. I do enjoy the chips salsa and the guacamole. Not sure that I would return.

Abstract: Come full as you will be waiting a good while to eat. No need for a reservation because you will not be seated on time anyway. Great for drinks and an outdoor ambience. If you ask to be seated inside that actually means outside and vice versa. We went on a Friday night. Pretty crowded but not unreasonable. We had reservations for 8PM. We were informed it would be a 45 minute wait to sit outside or we could sit inside so we chose the latter. After waiting fifteen minutes and seeing multiple groups seated who arrived after us with no reservations we asked if we would be seated soon. The flustered hostesses gave us a sub par answer so we embarked to the bar informing them to call our cell when the table was ready. As we ordered a margarita pitcher(25 minutes post reservation) our table became available so we headed back to the front where the hostess told us the other hostess just gave our table to another group and that they were preparing another table for us. We waited another 5 minutes and were seated at a table outside. The waitress was nice yet rarely visited our table. We were never served water and did not want to ask for fear of slowing down our order. We waited a good 45 minutes to an hour for food in which time a different waiter came up to us to take our order… The server then passed our table multiple times with our food, clearly having no idea which table to serve and having to ask us if we ordered the food he was carrying. So after two hours of hunger with only sugary margaritas to satiate us we ate. The food was quite good. It’s what you’d expect for higher end Mexican dishes. If only the service could match. The hostesses are clueless and disorganized. The waiters and waitresses are friendly yet elusive. And the servers need directions. Bring a camelback to quench your thirst. Most importantly make sure to laugh about it because if you take this place or yourself too seriously you will be greatly disappointed.

When my husband and I arrived to the restaurant, we weren’t sure how to get in, so we awkwardly walked by the outdoor seating into the bar area across from the entrance. The hostess was behind the counter of the entryway engrossed in her phone, and took a few seconds to notice us. To be fair, we did come in the wrong entrance, but she was obviously very focused on her phone. We were seated immediately where we were given water and menus, then ignored for a good 5 – 10 minutes. At one point, a waiter said he’d be right with us. Then another asked if we were being taken care of, which we said yes, but were then walked by for another several minutes. When our waiter finally came to the table, he apologized for the wait and said«how about a round of drinks?» This led me to believe he was offering us a free round for our«troubles»(We were totally fine waiting, but a free drink? Sure!) So I ordered a sangria, my husband passed on a drink. He went to put in my drink order, and when he came back, began to ramble on and on about the specials and menu, to the point it was slightly uncomfortable. We have had our one page menus now for going on 15 minutes, and were definitely ready to order. Once we placed our order, we noticed every table around us had chips and salsa, we had none. One table even asked for a second basket of chips and we were left wondering why we were being passed by. Food comes, nothing special, but good. The portions were fairly small for the price and my husband wasn’t happy with the way his eggplant was cooked. We got the bill, and on top of the expensive food, there was a $ 8 charge for my sangria! The waiter tricked me into ordering a drink by wording it to sound like it would be complimentary. The location is strange for this type of restaurant. Although the dining area is beautiful, it is in the middle of a neighborhood, which is a little awkward when you are eating outside and people’s bedroom windows are right above you. We will not be back.

Came here once for drinks with friends. Very nicely decorated. We all sat in the patio section outside. We all shared pitchers of margaritas which were very good.

The best margaritas! We got the nachos one time and the queso the next and both were very fresh and delicious. Service wasn’t too great and food too awhile. Also is pricey. But a fun place to go to split and app and get a margarita or two!

I gave this place a couple of really fair shots but it fell short every time. The food is average at best. Kind of greasy. You’ll get MUCH better authentic Mexican food for a far better price elsewhere in Conshy. The atmosphere and décor is great, but the service leaves a lot to be desired. Servers don’t seem to know the menu and can’t be bothered with the drink list which is a huge disappointment when you are with a group. Overall I’ve been really underwhelmed on more than one occasion. I want to love it but the high prices just don’t justify the subpar menu and poor service when there are so many other great places in Conshy.

This place has its ups and downs. I love the style of it — both the inside and outside are beautiful — but the bar gets crowded on a Friday /Saturday and I hate how they have music blasting so you can barely hear each other. I don’t really understand why they do that since the rest of their vibe is more upscale and classy. Love being outside though, when you can get a table. Usually it’s pretty easy to sit outside if you go later in the evening. They’ve experimented with different menus over the years and although the food is good, it’s hard for me to spend $ 20+ on a burrito when there are other delicious and less expensive Mexican options in the area. Drinks are pretty pricey too and I think the margaritas are too sweet. I can never get lunch there since they only serve it on weekdays but they are starting brunch for the summer which I will definitely try out. There’s some good happy hour options /nightly specials, but otherwise the drinks are pretty pricey. Half of the time the staff isn’t even aware of the specials which is annoying. I’d try it though… you might love it!

This place is great, I tried the pork sandwich at lunch on the chef’s recommendation. He was right, I did love it. The chips & salsa they automatically bring out were also very good. You can tell the salsa was freshly-made this morning & the chips are homemade. To be honest, I can tell you for a fact the salsa was made fresh this morning because I was in the kitchen before I ate & I saw them chopping everything up. Super clean kitchen. My waiter checked on me 3 – 4 times & was very kind & friendly. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone in the area in the mood for Mexican & I’d definitely come back here myself for happy hour & dinner. Posted a picture of the sandwich

Extremely rude wait staff! Inattentive the whole time and acted like we were bothering him every time we asked for something. Food took forever to come out and wasn’t anything to write home about. The worst part was when we asked for separate checks and he complained that we waited till the end and condescendingly said we were geniuses. Won’t ever come here again. Besides the ambiance there’s nothing to like. Extremely overpriced unless you’re paying to be treated badly. To add insult to injury gratuity was included!!!

Beautiful spot. Service was awful. Our waiter only came over three times. We sat at our table for fifteen minutes before he came over to greet us and take our order. He then came by after we got our food because I asked him for water, and then he brought the check. That’s it. He didn’t ask us if everything was ok, or if we needed anything else, or even if we wanted dessert. Maybe they were short staffed, I don’t know… but they had a bunch of people waking around. For a Friday night, you’d think that they would have been better prepared to be busy. Our Food was average. We ordered guacamole but ran out of chips half way through the dish and I felt like I had to eat it with my fingers. Then when our fajitas arrived they did not give us any plates to eat off of. I’ve had better steak elsewhere and was not impressed. Also, my fiancé was out of water for roughly an hour of the hour and fifteen minutes we were there. We won’t be back, which is a shame because the bar was really nice.

Coyote Crossing wasn’t too bad. I thought it was a bit pricey for what we got, but the service was good and the food was tasty. The ambiance is cool although it appeared the bar area was turning into a night club as we were leaving. The music started to drown our conversation so we quickly left after that. Parking is easy if you can grab a spot in the lot. I went with the fajitas and they were pretty filling. I would consider going back if I was in the area.
