Located just off I40 at the US64 exit(Oak Street), this property is an old, motor-lodge that dates back at least to the 70’s, if not further back. The hotel shares property with other hotels and restaurants, so parking can be confusing, but there is plenty. Finding the entrance is easy and there is an exit at a stop light, so getting in and out is pretty simple, one you have figured out WHICH driveway to take where. Check-in time is 3, but I arrived around 12:15 and was allowed to check in with the caveat that I wait for housekeeping to finish with the rooms at 1 before I go in. I find the room and notice that housekeeping is just finishing with my room, so I wait outside for a few minutes and get some of my work out of the way. 10 minutes later, I was in the room taking a look around. On first glance, the room is pretty nice looking — for a budget chain. Modern TV, fridge, microwave — all the stuff that most other places have, but for whatever reason some properties seem to neglect. The carpet was a little stained and dated, but its an old property, so its to be expected. The king bed was about average, nothing special about it except the comforter had a stain on it that looked like someone spilled a gallon of red wine on it years prior. The bathroom facilities were clean and worked, my only complaint being that there wasn’t a bath stopper and the lack of a hair-dryer left the hair a tad frizzy, but c’est la vie, no? Wifi was solid and the speed was decent(I clocked 8mbs from my room), the TV was modern, but inaccessible, so no netflix or anything from the chromecast. Power sockets were not conveniently placed, but again, older building. So if you are travelling with a laptop, it may be a good idea to bring a 10′ extension cable with you. If you need one, there are plenty of stores you can walk to within 5 minutes to pick one up. My only MAJOR complaint with my room was the door. It looked like it had been kicked in on various occasions in its past, and the frame was weak. The door itself was just slightly smaller than the frame, so there was a slight draft and increased noise from the highway — which, by the way, if you are in a highway facing room, it IS loud. I have stayed here twice, one on each side and the other side(away from the highway) is MUCH quieter. Will I return to ABV in conway? Probably if I ever need to stay in Conway again. Should you stay here? If you aren’t one of those types who needs every modern convenience and pampering, then sure. It’s not a bad place, and for the price, it beats the other budget spots in the area as well.
