Best thing I ever did for my kids. They learned alot. Used it to make $$$. And made many friends. They also have an extended family. Mr. DJarte has no idea what he is talking about. He must not have practiced. Try reading HIS reviews. They pan him.

ASM is not for people who want to learn. I wasted so much time and so much money at this place and I didn’t really start learning until I broke away from this machine and started looking for a teacher who knew what he was doing. That wasn’t easy and it took me a long time but it’s a lot better than being stuck at ASM. Everyone I knew who stayed, has quit playing all together and the only ones who still play, are the ones who quit the fastest. ASM actually boasts of about a thousand students per week but the only people who have done well are the ones who broke free of the place. Even If they were mediocre, they would be flooded with great reviews instead of stooping to their old trick of writing their own«5 star reviews.» My parents didn’t know this at the time but it well known to be what is called a «mill» where they just say anything to get you to sign up. It’s mostly just a social club to keep kids busy while mom goes to do her nails. It’s just like those place who claim to make you a «supermodel» or a «movie star» and you are not supposed to notice it doesn’t work. I saw them go through teachers like water and treat them like crap. Their $ 45 the highest registration fee for all stores. We didn’t know that registration fees are big red flag and a sure sign of a mill. What they do is give you an irresistibly great hourly price but there is a HUGE catch that they try to gloss over until it is too late. That price is contingent on purchasing one of their instruments at more than 400% retails price. The only reason people stay with them at all is because they are trying recoup their loss from the ridiculous purchase or walk away from the registration fees. The owner, Mr Ray has a schtick based on shaming parents into signing up in front of their kids indicating how only a horrible, selfish parent wouldn’t sign up right now. Requiring everyone to read music might benefit a tiny percentage of students in general but I have learned that reading music is the easiest thing to teach in classes. They make more money and It also allows them to keep stalling their students from insisting on learning songs we really want to learn. Most quit long before they ever get to learn what they really want and ASM is poised and ready to blame the students for their failure. ASM has a lot of experience at that.

My brother and I were enrolled in this school at a young age. My brother is now very musically talented, proficient in both guitar, and piano. As in, he has taught both, and is about to have a piano concert in a town venue. So this school really helped him. Me on the other hand… well, I feel like I’m able to appreciate music a lot more, lol and I’m an ok drummer. Pretty much played most percussion instruments in a marching band in college. So yes, glad my parents put us in this school, would suggest it to anyone.

If you have children who are interested in learning to play guitar, keyboard or drums, this is the place to take them. This may just be the only music program you can enroll your children in that actually teaches them how to read music, not just memorize a bunch of songs. The teachers cover music theory and how to properly read music in order to play. The school also is one of the only ones to offer a band component as part of the music education. Band enables them to see and hear how many musicians can come together, work as a team and make a simple melody sound like an entire orchestra. The teachers really care about each student and personalize the lessons to fit their interests and abilities. There is a sales pitch when you sign up but keep in mind, this is a business. That said, in the nearly five years my children have been taking lessons here, I have never felt that anyone associated with the school wanted anything other than the best for them and they are truly committed to helping my children be successful. There are opportunities to perform during various concerts, shows and recitals as well as the personalized attention from weekly private lessons as well as the group instruction in band.
