This place is lovely and very reasonably priced. We were arriving late, so Eric, the very nice and accommodating owner, upgraded us to another unit — for no charge — because he said it would be easier to find in the dark. The unit was essentially an apartment, with two bedrooms, a sitting area and a small kitchen. We were only there for a night, on the way to Toronto, so we didn’t spend a lot of time in it, but it was perfect. The beds were also very comfy too. I was tickled that Eric, who is an artist, gifted me with a piece of his art, a matted rendering of America’s oldest covered bridge that is where else… in Cooperstown.(Apparently he does this with all of his guests.)

My wife an I needed a place to stay during our 3 day trip to Cooperstown last September. The Gateway Inn caught my wife’s attention and she booked a room for us. The owners were friendly and helpful. The owner gives his guests a choice of one of his watercolor paintings, they’re copies, but a pleasant surprise none the less. The room was one of four in one of the buildings. Private entrance. The room had two beds, a queen and a twin. The rooms appoinents were cozy, the bath towels thick and fluffy though they could be bigger. My only compliant is that the fans in the bathroom are too loud. The fan on the room next to ours woke us up at 6AM. We would stay here again next time we visit the Baseball Hall of Fame I had contacted Eric(the owner) about the noisy fan and I think his reply to me is one more reason to stay there next we go back. You can read his reply here… We are pleased that you found our inn to be ‘Quaint, quiet and convenient’ — all being qualities that we strive for. Sorry about the fan, a day before you posted your comment, the bearing burnt out — obviously the root of your early morning awakening. Rest assured, the problem has been resolved. It is also warming to know that you appreciated the complimentary matted watercolor print. A prior guest said that it was his best Cooperstown Souvenir. For us, it is merely one way that we show our clientele that we appreciate they selected Gateway Inn & Suites as their resting spot. Hope to see you in the future, Eric(the owner) Thanks Eric, you will when we go back for Pumpkinfest.

I was impressed by this place. It’s very close to town but so much cheaper than other places! We paid $ 65 during the off season for a large room with two beds. The pet charge is $ 10 a night which is a little annoying(EVERY night?) but still nice to have an option for pets. There is a ton of outdoor space– gazebo, picnic tables, etc. Very family friendly. I love that it almost feels like a little cabin! I will definitely be back!

There’s a reason this place is number one in hotels on trip advisor. The pictures on the website doesn’t do the place justice(they look a little too old fashioned/country when in fact its relatively modern with updated amenities). Everything was clean, the people are so friendly and you are close enough to all the destinations in Cooperstown. It’s also excellent for whole families to stay in especially those families on a budget. Well worth the money and would absolutely come back again.

Pros: 1. Cold, yet clean & serviceable pool. Kids happy-nothing fancy. Bring your own pool towel. 2. Picturesque setting. 3. Convenient location to all Cooperstown has to offer. 4. Space fit our family’s travel needs(2 adults &4 kids) Cons: 1. Be forewarned: you will not get a sense that this place is kept clean between guests: Baseboards dirty, door handles & surround visibly grimy, all rooms with ceiling cobwebs, kitchen with food splattered spots, just a few examples. 2. Bed linens were clearly past their prime. Old flat pillows; reused bed spreads between guests. 3. Strong smell of perfume-y air fresheners. Every once in a while, a potent wet dog smell would creep up. Here’s the deal. If we were paying $ 75-$ 100 this really wouldn’t be a big deal. You get what you pay for. But we paid $ 200 a night and we expected a whole lot more.

We absolutely loved this place! As soon as we got there, we were made to feel right at home. Lynn showed us a local map and gave us some tips on where to eat. She also upgraded us to a «suite» which was basically our own house! Everything was very well maintained and comfortable and the internet was amazing! The only negative is what was mentioned in the other reviews; it is extremely difficult to find at night. Luckily, we had GPS so it wasn’t a problem, but there are no street lights between the location and Main Street so make sure to have a navigation system! TIP: Make sure to bring your own shampoo and conditioner. I had read to do so before so I was prepared.

I just needed a single Thursday night stay to do a day at the baseball Hall of Fame on a Friday and my Babe’s Nook stay couldn’t have been more pleasant. At a reasonable single night rate of $ 59.95, I was presented with a souvenir piece of local artwork when I arrived in. There were a variety of options to choose from but I went with the Doubleday Field art which I felt was best representative of the local baseball theme of Cooperstown. The room included everything I needed: reliable WiFi, hot shower, large king sized bed, well maintained room, and lots of cable channels. Gateway Inn & Suites is a few miles south of downtown Cooperstown and it can get pretty dark if you check in late so just make sure you have your GPS set up or you understand the directions to get here beforehand. I can imagine it can be pretty stressful trying to find this place if you are lost.

We googled motel/hotels around Cooperstown, NY for«pet friendly» and those that are listed as «pet friendly» are not! When we found Gateway Inn & Suites not only was Eric and Lynn so welcoming our cabin«Cooper Room» is wonderful. It has a living area and two queen beds and a wonderful bathroom. The bonus is it sits in a beautiful remote wooded area with a deck that faces the hill side and is so relaxing that we at times don’t want to go into the historical village. The biggest bonus is that it’s so clean and our small dog can run in the yard area and they don’t mind we leave him while we do head for the village. The hospitality is wonderful and worth every bit of the fee charged.

I stayed in the Doubleday Suite, it was spacious, warm and very affordable. Lynne was incredibly gracious, and although I was late getting up to Cooperstown, she stayed past check-in hours to hand me the key. Situated halfway between Main St in Cooperstown and the Ommegang Brewery, it was very convenient. I’ll be sure to come back next time I’m in town.
