Very underwhelmed by this place. Went there for a business meeting and ordered alcapurrias, but they were not very good. Thank God for the mayo ketchup sauce, we were able to mask the weird taste of the alcapurria. Food took forever and only like 4 tables full of people was there. Asked for chuletas kan kan and after 15 minutes server came out and told me they didn’t have any. So I ordered the mofongo relleno de churrasco. It took an hour more to get my food !!! Not only that, waitress gave my mofongo to my guest and I got my gues’ts food, mofongo relleno de pollo. Taste was ok, but not what I expected for the price. When manager came to my table to ask how service was, I was honest and told him the food took very long and the waitress mixed our orders. Instead of apologizing or being humble about their mistake/lack of speedy service he stated«well this is not Chili’s that has a big kitchen and we had too many customers». There were 4 tables filled, what??? If they can’t handle a service for 4 tables, perhaps they shouldn’t be in service. Not trying to bash, but seriously I was embarassed to be boricua and to have chosen this place for an important business meeting. Definitely, they did not represent our island well. I hope they can get it together soon or it will be another failed restaurant venture.

Originally I was going to give this place 2 stars, but after reading some of the reviews here I have decided to give this place 1 star! Honestly I would give it a half star if I could! First of all, I am Puertorican(born and raised) so that means I grew up tasting all the dishes that are sold here. I was very enthusiastic and excited to know about this place, my excitement quickly fizzled after we walked in. First, no one greeted us at the door and after a few minutes of not seeing anyone we proceeded to sit and wait for someone to come out. Here I read that there is actually a «lunch menu»(it was not provided to us at no point during our visit), which makes me believe they pull this trick often so people spend more money during lunch. The waiter, was polite but seemed to be the only one working the entire restaurant(floor, kitchen, etc). The dishes, not only they were overpriced but not really authentic or flavorful! We ordered the pastelon, it wasn’t completely terrible but just like the rest of the dishes it just didn’t taste fresh. The chicken Asopao didn’t even have any chicken in it! The waiter took the soup back and added some chopped chicken, what leads me to believe the Asopao is not cooked with the chicken as a regular Asopao is. It seems they cook the caldo and add the chicken or shrimp depending on what you order.(You would think that by doing that the food would come out faster, it doesn’t!) we also ordered the chicken and the shrimp mofongo, the chicken looked like chopped carrots! Apparently it was cooked solely on sazon, same kind of chicken they used for the Asopao. The shrimp mofongo was not better, shrimp was not fresh, it tasted old and the mofongo itself was lacking garlic or just flavor! The sorrullitos, even though they looked more like croquetas were decent, and the juices were good too. So if you want a nice juice and a sorrullito, this is your place! In general it was way overpriced and the service was mediocre just like the food!

I ordered the shrimp mofongo it was garbage, the shrimp was fishy and the phone was dry. The service was slow and I was not provided the lunch menu and it was extremely salesy(he pushed the $ 30 appetizer, for lunch???) have to say I would never be going back here again and this is definitely not the best Puerto Rican food in town. For the best Puerto Rican food try mi Viejo San Juan or Jimmy’s café. Avoid this place. Best thing about this was the music and it wasn’t live.

The place is nice decorated, love the colors and the paintings. Also even that is a small place the tables and chairs are comfortable. Our mofongos with churrasco were sooooo good! My son also loved his meal Chicken breast with rice and beans. He didn’t left a bean on his plate. Now this are my suggestions: the salad that come with the mofongos it’s too small, there should be bottles of spicy sauce to add a spicy kick to the mofongos(I personally like a little spice in it). Chicken broth should come with the mofongo or ask the person if you would like to have it and don’t charge for it!!! I loved my sangria with tamarindo. Love the taste and it was so refreshing. I would come back but not as often as I would like since it’s pricey. I guess like another person said it’s because of the location? But to charge $ 9.00 for a small flan(custard)… Service was right on the spot!

Great Mofongo! had a really nice lunch here the other day, everything was delicious! Its hard to find tasty juicy mofongo and we’re always looking for it. I would eat here every week if we lived in Miami. i loved the area the restaurant was located, there was also outside seating, great for people watching… plenty of great stores for shopping afterwards. Service was fast and friendly.

Casa Mofongo; The food is not bad. did Request appetizer shows the waitress recommendation«pushing» very expensive and really bad tasting food. just fried flour worst. The very expensive meal I realize why the place is always empty. The dessert sample was terrible of them all! We ordered 5 lemonade and 4 beers and pink lemonade which was more expensive than beer! «It makes no sense» added services on the check never ordered to charge more! bad service. I put 2 stars by the mofongo with churrasco like me! although to be a plate of green banana with bits of meat po $ 20 seems too expensive. the small place if unfamiliar environment. the bill was for $ 400 and only ate a lousy appetizer, a beer, a horrible dessert, and good mogongo

Small but nice little spot. They were playing salsa music, which made me want to get up and dance. The décor is modern, but nice. We ordered the pork and plantain eggrolls and a Miracle Mile Island(steak, shrimp, and mofongo). The eggrolls were better than I expected, and were a nice combo of salty and sweet. The steak dish would have been a winner if the steak hadn’t been cooked to DEATH. It was dry and tough. It had good flavor, but we couldn’t get past the texture. The shrimp, on the other hand, were cooked to perfection. The flavor was spot-on, too. The mofongo was made with yuca, which I wasn’t expecting. It tasted good, extra garlicky. But, there were yuca membranes in the mofongo that I kept having to pick out. More of an annoyance than a deal-breaker. It was extra-garlicky(which I loved), and had plenty of cracklings mixed into it. I would go back, but probably just get a mofongo a la carte and skip the steak.

We ordered Mix Mofongo filled with chicken. The Mofongo was really good; soft, not too garlicky, moist and crunchy. All the right ingredients found in a good Mofongo. We also ordered a regular Mofongo with Shrimp in red sauce(sauce not in the menu). Only complaint will be that the shrimps were a bit hard, an indication they were overlooked. I didn’t mind, but wife is a bit picky, so I gave her my chicken. The décor was nice, music well balanced with adequate volume. God knows I hate restaurants with loud music not allowing customers to have a normal conversation. The service was outstanding! The prices are a bit high, but I figured it’s Coral Gables and the rent no doubt is very high. I will be back!

Great great food but go with time. If you are in a hurry to get lunch then this is not the place. But if you are not on the clock, then this place is perfect. Food is authentic and very tasty. Nice restaurant

I was anticipating my dinner all day. Having read on Unilocal this was the best mofongo! Being originally latin and not having had the food in years you can imagine my excitement! To my disappointment the mofongo was was not very flavorful and was very dry. My husband got the skirt steak and it was also lacking flavor and mildly cold. I will say the fried yuca appetizer was very tasty. Not worth driving an hour or of our way for.

Meh. Whole experience. Over cooked chicken and everyone thought the mofongo was mediocre at best. The only saving grace was the fried cheese but come on how hard is it to make fried cheese.

The newest member to the Miracle Mile restaurant scene is Casa Mofongo, a restaurant that originated in Puerto Rico. Having been only opened for a couple of months people from all over Miami are coming to try their delicious mofongo and everything else they have to offer. When you walk in the first thing you notice is the salsa playing in the background, and immediately you feel the urge to dance. Then you see on the wall some pretty cool art, which was actually painted for the owner by a Puerto Rican artist, Robert Perez — who has his gallery in San Juan. Now, let’s talk food. First I want to talk to you about their appetizers. If you are with a group of people I suggest you order their Casa Sampler, which comes with fried cheese, mini mofongo, mini alcapurrias, corn fritters(sorullitos). You also must order, no question about it, the Pork Belly & Maduros Eggroll, which is made of smoked pork belly and oven baked yellow ripe plantain with sweet-caliente sauce. After you are done with your appetizer you are ordering the Miracle Mile Mofongo. And, let me tell you — Chef Yamil Sanchez knows what he is doing. This dish comes with skirt steak stuffed with yuca mofongo and shrimp with a coconut sauce, and it is truly delicious. All the flavors, mofongo, shrimp, steak and sauce all blend perfectly together. Last but not least you have to try their dessert. I tried a little bit of everything — enock fried cheesecake w/caramel sauce, coconut flan, vanilla ice cream con panky(wafer cookie from Puerto Rico) and vanilla sauce, and chocolate fondant with hot fudge inside. My favorite? The coconut flan, of course!

I just came back from having lunch here with 3 of my friends. This place was horrible. We all ordered from the lunch specials menu and a few minutes later the waitress returned to the table and informed one of my friends that they didn’t have the pulled pork that was on their lunch menu. My friend said that she would take the regular fried pork sliders but when the food was brought to the table the waitress told her that they didn’t have the bread for the sliders but she had brought her out the fried pork chunks without even asking if that’s what she wanted. My friend said it was okay and we all began to eat our food. My food was cold and the mofongo was extremely dry. Another one of my friends had ordered a grilled chicken breast and after taking a couple of bites she noticed that the center was completely raw. She called the manager over and showed him the chicken and at first he was apologetic(like he should be) but then he came back and asked her«Why did you eat a piece of the chicken if it was raw» Are you kidding me? Obviously the piece that she had already ate was not raw but as she approached the middle of the chicken breast it was completely uncooked. Then we receive one bill even though we had asked for separate bills before we even ordered our food. We all had our credit cards so we asked her if she could please split up the bill and the waitress then asked us if she could just split the bill 4 ways and we told her to go ahead and do it. She came back with my card in her hand and says«I’m sorry but I charged the full amount to this card». I asked her to void the transaction and she leaves the table and comes back a few minutes later and tells me that she cant void it and that if my friends could just give me the cash. No one had cash on them so I asked her again to void the transaction. She went back into the kitchen and when she came out she said that the general manager was on his way and that he was the only one that could fix it. I asked her how long did she think he would take because we had to go back to work and she said that he was about 25 minutes away. At this point I was extremely frustrated and getting really irritated with the fact that no one knew how to fix their mistake. The waitress said that she would call the general manager again to see if he could walk her through the process. Ten minutes later she came back to the table and says that she fixed it and now gives us all separate bills. I ask her for the voided receipt and she brings me back the bill and the first receipt where she had messed up in. I got up and asked the manager for the receipt voiding the transaction and he gave me this whole story on how he had to call the bank but he didn’t have authorization and that the bank would send them something by mail and they would then return my money. At this point it was beyond evident that they had no idea what they were doing so I told him to leave the charge on the card but to give me the amount they charged me in cash. He agreed to it and asked the waitress to give me back the money. The waitress gives me back the amount they were supposed to charge me for just my food and not the amount they charged me for everyone’s food. I tell her that she’s gave me the wrong amount and she says that they already voided the first transaction. The manager had to come out again and tell her to give me the cash. He then goes on to tell me that next time I should ask for separate checks to avoid all this confusion and I reply that I did asked for separate checks and that the waitress did not do it. That wasn’t even a proper comment for him to make. Both the manager and the staff need some serious training for the kitchen, customer service, and how to handle the register. I will never go back to this place, We came here to celebrate a co-workers birthday and we all left super disappointed and frustrated.

I would rate it 0 stars but that’s not an option. My chicken was RAW. The«manager» came and said«well if it was raw, why did you eat a piece of it»… Any person with half a brain knows that the small THIN piece I ate wasn’t raw and I noticed when I got to more of the middle. The service was TERRIBLE. We asked for separate bills and she«mistakenly» charged ALL of the meals to ONE card and then told us she didn’t know how to void it and we had to wait 30+ minutes for someone to come and void it. Then she said she voided it but had no proof. I will never be visiting this restaurant again.
