I am a die hard El Nopal lover so beating it is hard to do. We have some family that like coming here for a change so we thought we would try it. I was very pleased! My boys enjoyed their tacos, and my husband and I enjoyed our beef and chicken fajitas. Our food was very hot when it was delivered and had a large portion of meat. Our server was very attentive and quick to bring refills and anything else we requested. Overall I would say I still rate El Nopal the best, but this is a close second. Try it!

Been here several times, but gave the place a break to explore other Mexican places. On comparison, this place has a casual bar feel with live music and pleasant staff. When I complained about my serving size of Pollo Favorite as compared to their competition two blocks away they promptly remade my dish to my expectations. Just one reason My Favorite place is one of my favorite places.

The table side guacamole is fresh and tasty. Mexican fare is better than most in the area. This place always seems clean and has white table cloths topped with white butcher paper. The Mexican Season Salt on each table is excellent on the table side guacamole. Daily lunch specials include a drink at $ 7.50. I really like the fajitas — tastes fresh and is seasoned nicely. Outdoor seating is available.

First time eating there today. The food came out a little slower than other Mexican restaurants I’ve been to but it was good and so was the service. I’d go back.

This place is filthy-I love dives but not filth. Look around the next time under the tables the carpet. The food was good the first time but we will not be back. Most everything is ground beef in several different ways. The dirt on doors and everywhere.

Salsa or spaghetti sauce? Absolutely the worst salsa ever! Tastes like cheap canned spaghetti sauce! The rice, chicken, and carnitas are bland. Zero zing The waiter spilled an entire beer, said he would get us another to replace it, then charged us! Nice employees but horrible experience! This is a no return for us

The fresh flamed chicken is a great value! You get half a chicken, black beans and rice for $ 9! The chicken is cooked on a rotisserie and then grilled over an open flame. If you drizzle with a little queso and ghost pepper sauce… delicious. they have some of the best chips in town. I can’t believe I’ve driven by this place so many times and have been missing out.

Haven’t been for dinner, but it’s a great place for lunch/afternoon meal. Depending on when you go, they have 2-for-1 margarita specials and lunch specials that offer a lot of food/drink for a good price.

Like most of the Mexican food restaurants I have experienced in the Memphis area, this one also leaves a lot to be desired. Some of their items are okay and the hot sauce is better than some of the others. In general, the seasoning of the meats leaves me wanting more. I am not sure if it is just the area or that most people around here just prefer less spiced up Mexican food, but I just want to be able to taste the cumin, chili, maybe even some epazote or other Mexican seasonings. Overall, just like the 2 stars represents, «Meh, I’ve experienced better.» but not awful.

Went here for the first time it will not be the last. This place has great food and service. The tortillas are made on site and are served fresh. The ingredients are of good quality and the seasoning is closer to Tex-Mex the the normal local bland of other places. The Steak and Enchiladas are well prepared and the fresh made at the table Guacamole is a must. Food is priced favorably and the environment is good for couples and families.

I love the staff. We come here about once a week. Ice tea is important to me. It works here and it is good solid Mexican food. Not the best I have ever had. But keeps us coming back and far and away the best in the region.

I’ve eaten here four times. The food is always good. Service has been barely adequate once, abysmal the other three times. It is not unusual to be seated and then be just be entirely forgotten. The second time we went, the waitress brought us some other couples’ food. Sometimes the chef can be seen waiting tables during the dinner rush which just can’t be good. I don’t think this was some momentary labor shortage – there is just no competent wait staff, time after time. The tamales are very good. I have to say this. =^) Compared to some of the local horrors such as the odious tamales at Los Buchanas, these are very very good. The carnitas are okay, above average in Memphis. Tender enough. Awash in fluorescent green salsa verde. Carne asada is hard to understand. It is very good! Don’t get me wrong. But 99.99% of Mexican food lovers here in the US expect carne asada to be skirt steak, or flank, marinated in citrus and garlic, grilled extremely hot then sliced thin, hopefully with lots of pink. Here, it is what seems to be a T-bone steak sent through a slicer, then grilled beyond ultra well done? I liked it, both times I ordered it, chewey but tastes good, but if you order it, now you know what to expect. The food here by convention is not picante at all. I mean, utterly without any spicy heat whatsoever. The last time I visited, I asked the chef, who was waiting tables, see above, to crank it up a little. I like Mexican food with a glow to it, the glow I would expect from a good restaurant in Santa Fe or Dallas or Cuidad Chihuahua. Chef apparently took this as a challenge: let’s see if we can send the customer to the hospital. I mean, come on. Either I can have it bland as baloney, or I can have it doused with this sauce which obviously came out of a bottle, that would have Scoville himself heaving if he ingested even a gram of it. Well, I got myself into that. Crying real tears, I took the food home in a box to throw away where no one could see, left a good tip, and won’t go back. Restrooms are NOT authentic Mexican, which is good, but they are edging that way, which is not.

We love My Favorite Place. We go here at least once a week on average. The shrimp chimichangas are to die for. We love that the shrimp is grilled and flavorful before being fried in shell. This adds to the taste and makes it my favorite dish at My Favorite Place. The tacos are also good in the corn shell. Our fav is the steak taco and the freshly made guac is good.

I am becoming so lenient as I age and this place should be given 3.5 stars and rounded down, but I just love the customer service when it comes to the food prep. If you want it specialized; Done. Guacamole prepared tables use from the avocado, viola! Unusual drinks are offered(grilled margarita) and they appear to be serious about seeing that the customer is happy. The place needs cleaning and the atmosphere is a bit ragged, but the food is cheap and respectably different. Worth a stop by for lunch if you are in the area.

I am definitely a fan for not only the convenient location, but for the quality of the food and service. Dennis, the owner, is very friendly and has served my table numerous times. He say’s they will make anything you want, just ask. The menu even has some of those creative options listed. The margaritas are great. The best part for us is the Tuesday night Triple T(Taco’s, Tequila, and Trivia) with the 107.5 The Q.

Disgusting food and rude service and extremely slow as well. They brought in my order(two tacos with a side of rice and beans) and right away it looked unpleasing to the eye, after taking my first bite I discerned the food was cold, but there was nobody around to ask for something so I just didn’t eat but even if I would’ve asked the food didn’t take good. My waitress didn’t come to the table until almost twenty minutes. I do not recommend this place.

there are MexiCAN restaurants, and then there are MexiCAN’T restaurants. Unfortunately, My Favorite Place falls into the latter category. I wanted to like it– I mean, it’s called«My Favorite Place,» which is a more clever name than most places that offer Mexican fare. I am not sure which was a bigger turn-off: the lack of A/C(remind me not to come back in July) or our waitress coughing INHERHANDS and then handling our plates, glasses, chip basket, etc. Prices are 10−20% higher than other local spots, and the food seriously lacks flavor. Too bad, because it was refreshing to see a menu full of options other than your standard burrito/taco/enchilada combo.

Sunday Lunch. Coming through town and stopped to see sis and family. This IS her favorite place. It’s a clean little place. Good service. Good food. I had the quesadiilla’s, spinach. Everyone enjoyed their meal and a good time was had by all.
