Don’t skip the hummus. I am never disappointed with this place. I generally stick to the hummus, gyro and spanikopita. They are all delicious. The waitresses are always very friendly. The prices are a little higher than some other places, but it is worth it in my mind.

Chef was listening to iPod and singing loudly. Server was taking orders an cash without washing hands. Both seemed to be the only on staff and seemed very uninterested in being there. Food is great though. Based on the service I understand why they are not busy at night.

I’m always looking for a place to get a good gyro. Especially places that make them with lamb. The food was good though the tzatziki sauce was a bit bland. It’s a small place so other than the guys in the kitchen there was one person at the register who also served us. She seemed rather bored and instead of trying to talk to customers she put on headphones and played on her phone. Ruined the environment.

I’ve eaten at Petra many times(probably close to ten), and I like it better each time. You could not ask for owners who are as friendly and efficient as these! I usually get the classic Gyro or the Russian Panini, both of which are delicious. I also love their humus/pita bread and usually get extra to take home.

Just got back from the Midtown Petra Café. I will not be repeating the experience, unfortunately. The food was variable: I was very pleased with the sampler appetizer, which had excellent hummus and eggplant dip. I split the sampler with someone else, and we quickly exhausted the supply of pita bread that came with it. We asked for more, and the waitress gave us a few more pieces. We had to ask again, and still again for more pita bread. Why not just give us enough the first time? The panini grilled sandwich was ok, nothing special about it, but it was cold. So what really left a bad taste in our mouths was the service… slow… slow… slow. Over an hour to get a sandwich. My recommendation for good Greek food with better prices and faster service, go across the street down the block to Sean’s Café.

Went for lunch today. One other couple in the restaurant when we got there around 11:30. Another 5 or 6 customers came in while we were eating. My partner had been to the Petra in Germantown recently and had raved about how good the gyros there were. So when we stopped at the Cordova Petra, we both got a classic gyro. It looked good and was more than enough food for one meal. It had no flavor. Everything was just sort of bland, even the sauce. The meat, while fork tender, was not seasoned at all. It had the consistency and taste of Spam. No juiciness and no depth to the flavor. The sauce was flat too. I was expecting a rich, creamy tzatziki sauce with some pizzazz. This had no distinguishing flavor and there wasn’t enough on the gyro to make up for the lack of juiciness in the meat. We asked for extra and were charged for it. The onions and tomatoes were just sort of there. They added no real flavor, maybe because there weren’t enough of them or maybe because they just weren’t flavorful. The service was the bad part though. The waitress came quickly to take our order, brought drinks, and brought the food fairly quickly. But she didn’t come back again. My partner went up to the register to ask for the extra sauce for the gyros instead of being able to ask for it while he was seated. When they were served, the cokes were filled to the top with ice so there wasn’t a lot of Coke in them. After eating the dry gyros, we wanted to get soda refills. We waited but the waitress didn’t come back to ask if we needed them or how our food was. We were sitting fairly close to the register and my partner caught her eye but she sort of scowled at him and then ignored him and didn’t come to the table. She had brought the check when she brought the extra sauce out 1⁄3 of the way into our meal. So we paid $ 4.00 for a total of maybe 12 ounces of soda between 2 cups. We eventually got up and paid for the meal at the register. Maybe these are new-restaurant pains. They should really focus on customer service and the depth of flavors of their food. Well, the food should be the most important thing. We can overlook poor service if the food is excellent. This restaurant is in a place that has a lot of traffic moving in front of it but not a lot that pulls into that part of the shopping center and they should be taking advantage of every opportunity to make a good first impression with new customers. We probably won’t be back to this Petra for a long time but we will go to the one in Germantown.

I always leave here so happy! My husband decided that I needed to experience Greek food, since I hadn’t really tried it before. My 26 years of life have been deprived, I tell you. The first time I ate here I had an Italian style panini, and it was good. I tried a bite of my husband’s classic gyro and immediately wished I had ordered that. Next time, I tried the Petra gyro and it was pretty good. The classic is where it’s at. The hummus is good, and the warm pita I could die for. It’s a cute little place, you might not see it just driving down Germantown parkway. It’s in front of the Kroger at dexter and Germantown. Please go check it out. :) it’s one of the best options in this area.

My girlfriend met me at work and we decided on Petra Café for lunch. We started with the sampler for appetizer. The hummus and eggplant dip was superb. I went with petra’s gyro. It’s was a tasty wrap. I prefer more tzatziki sauce but that’s a personal preference. My girlfriend had the zesty petra gyro. She really like it too. The best tasting food was the Sampler appetizer. I think I’ll skip the gyro next time and order couple of appetizers.

I have a soft spot for small restaurant owners who tend to their stores for long hours, and I assume the lady in charge of this café does just that on a daily basis. On my third visit I watched her with admiration while she worked her way around a lunch rush, taking orders from 4 tables plus 3 to-go customers, answered some potential customer’s(silly) questions over the phone, served drinks and appetizers, passed orders to the cooks and rang up the bills, all in 10 minutes, while managing a warm and reassuring smile every time our eyes met.(Geez, almost sounds like me having a crush on her.:P) Better yet, my order of the classic gyro was ready 5 minutes after I placed the order(I did wait 8 minutes before she got around to me but that was my turn). Some restaurants should pay this lady to show their servers how it is done. Did I mention the classic gyro was delicious?

Ordered a Greek Salad and the petra gyro. The place was clean, the service and the food were both good. I thought the salad was pricy for what you get.

I love Greek food, so it was nice to find this location to get a good Greek salad. I dream about the Greek salad from this little place in my hometown and this is not far from that. Big with fresh, crispy lettuce and all of the trimmings. I get it with chicken added. For just under eight bucks, you can’t beat it. The menu offers a great selection of other sandwiches and paninis as well. For you Reuben fans, they have ‘em.

I heart Petra Café! Hummus has to be the best invention known to man. I could drink it from a straw– seriously. Whenever we visit this place we tend to order solely from the appetizer menu. Our meal usually consists of dolmades, hummus, spanikopita, tabbouli and falafel. Each of these items is seriously amazing in the way of Greek food. The dolmades are my favorite. If you aren’t familiar, dolmades are stuffed grape leaves. They have a filling with rice and ground meat(you can get it without the meat if you wish) and they serve it with tzatziki sauce and it is deeeelicious! The staff here is super fabulous as well. If you aren’t familiar with Greek cuisine, they are more than willing to help you make your choice. This says a lot, cuz although I am familiar with Greek food, a lot of people aren’t. I have been to restaurants before where I wasn’t familiar with their cuisine and had a less than pleasant experience due largely in part to the fact that I had no idea what I had ordered, nor what it would look like when it was placed in front of me. Maybe it’s a Greek thing, but these folks are ab-fab in my book.

Another hot spot and personal favorite from my former Collierville dwelling days, Petra brings a taste of Greece to the suburbs. Try their gyros. They have about 15 different kinds to choose from, and I’ve tried several of them, all of which I’ve thoroughly enjoyed. If you’re not into gyros though, they have great deli style sandwiches and paninis. The Neopolitan is indescribably good! They also have a dinner menu with favorites like Spanikopita, Moussaka, Falafel and Pastitio.

Classic Gyro — mixed review. The meat was great: not as greasy as many and it has an excellent texture. The tzatziki sauce was thinner/runnier than I am used to, but the flavor was pretty good despite that. Both meat and sauce could use a bit more garlic in my opinion, but were otherwise well-seasoned. There are LOTS of food options on the menu, so I think next time I will try something different that doesn’t come with tzatziki(since it was not divine). Petra has a clean, simple dining room that manages to feel elegant and open despite being small. There are cold foods on display in a cold case where you order. The employees were very attentive, and the overall experience was very good. I will be returning and sampling some of the other cuisine.

This has become one of my new favorite places. I’ve been hearing about it for awhile and finally had the opportunity to go there for lunch this week and I’m so glad I did. Just like the previous review said, it’s right off Germantown Pkwy. You may have missed it driving by, but it’s just down from TCBY in front of Kroger and Steinmart. The lunch menu features salads, pita bread sandwiches, deli sandwiches and panini grilled sandwiches. The menu is big, but the portion sizes are even bigger. The best thing is the price for the quantity and quality(these things don’t often go together). For under $ 10.00 you get an enormous sandwich– enough to share or to take home for dinner or lunch the next day. I got the Ruben and my husband go the beef and lamb sandwich. The Ruben was probably the best I have had anywhere in town. They are also open for dinner and most entrees are under $ 20.00. The dinner menu features Greek dishes such as chicken kabobs, lamb kabobs and moussaka– Greek lasagna. If you go for dinner just know that they close at 8:00. I’ll be back again soon, next up on my list to try is the veggie panini.

I can’t tell you how many times I drive up and down G’town Pkwy a day… so how have I missed this place? It’s located in the shopping center that has Marshall’s, Steinmart, etc. The woman working the counter was very friendly and helpful. I ordered the classic gyro. The sandwich was HUGE! Like something that you’d see on Man vs. Food. You absolutely need a fork to eat it… I could only eat about half, but it was very tasty! Their menu has regular sandwiches, like Reubens, Philly Cheesesteak, Club sandwiches, etc. too, if Greek isn’t your thing. They also have a slew of panini choices, including a muffaletta.(YUM! — Can’t wait to try that!) This is right around where I work, so I will definitely be back.
