Ate there twice this week during a visit to Corning. The food was excellent, we enjoyed the BBQ and burgers. Ask for curly fries cooked crispy, they are fresh potatoes not frozen. Service was friendly and owner was right there to help. Wish we lived closer we would be there every week

Service was very slow. Took over 45 min to get our food. Then one person in our group got served the wrong sandwich. When we told the server she argued with us(4 of us) that we ordered that sandwich. Then when the right sandwich finally came out it didn’t have all the ingredients on it. We still got charged for the sandwich and our server seemed clueless that this experience wasn’t pleasant for us. I would never recommend this place.

We stopped here on the way back to DC for a quick lunch. I picked based on other reviews and I have to say, I’m shocked they have such a huh rating. Their handmade chips are nothing but oil and the same with the wings. I definitely do not recommend this place for a meal.

Came here for dinner and wasnt bad, average tasting food but didnt like that my food came at room temperture instead of hot. The service was okay. not the greatest. Noisy so good if you have noisy kids. Would say good quick casual lunch spot.

I used to love this place however we went there last night and the worst experience in a restaurant in a longtime! We sat down ordered our drinks then shortly after she brought them out. She then took our order. We ordered 2 appetizers and our meals at the same time. 20 minutes later she brought out one of our appetizers. Another twenty minutes goes by and the manager brings out 4 of our 6 peoples meals. We asked about our other appetizer and the other 2 meals and she said she said our other appetizer was never put in so we told her to cancel it. The manger told us their system went down so the other two meals weren’t ever ordered then left. She never even asked what they were. We assumed she was going to put them in. Finally 30 minutes later we saw our waitress and asked where the other two meals were. She said they never put them in!!! Everyone else was done eating so we told her to forget it and bring the bill. The waitress came out and apologized she didn’t even want to bring us the bill but her manager made her do it. Talk about totally unprofessional! I honestly cant remember a worse experience at a place. I will not be going back to this place anytime soon. The guy sitting in the booth next complained they had been there for a long time and still hadn’t received any food yet.

We stopped here for dinner on the way home from Philly. Nice atmosphere for was good really enjoyed the zucchini fries. I had the half chicken which was good. Service was ok but the waitress brought our check without asking if we wanted dessert. So we went for ice cream down the street. I would eat here again if in the area.

Love the playfulness that this place has with their brown paper dressed tables and crayons on the side, to let your inner child have fun while you wait for your food! Talking about food, our overall experience was Average. The burger and the filet Mignon sandwich lacked some serious seasoning. The rest of the food(pulled pork and basil pesto chicken) were OK. Their cornbread was the star and I highly recommend it!

We had a really good early dinner here after an afternoon of museum hopping. For an appetizer we went for the loaded nachos, which were excellent! The chips tasted homemade and the toppings were plentiful and well proportioned — a very tasty mixture of flavors! My boyfriend got the western burger, which was hearty and filling. I had the basil pesto chicken wrap — yummy, but not the biggest serving for what you pay. I wasn’t too impressed by the chips or fries either, but it wouldn’t stop me from coming back. Looking forward to returning to try the ribs sometime!

Husband had one of the best burgers ever here — he said he could definitely taste the quality of the beef. Beers were cold and refreshing, and my salad was excellent. Solid food, will return again.

Went after a movie. Saw great reviews, not impressed. Neat building, good service but… Drink selection was good. Ordered filet mignon sandwich and firehouse burger with fries. Filet was terrible, lots of gristle not much flavor. Burger was average at best, small, and toppings were bland, unexpected since it was hot cheese, jalapeños and salsa. Finally the burger was $ 15.00 with fries, and the filet sandwich was $ 13.00 with chips. A very overpriced meal for lackluster food. There are much better choices on Market Street. Disappointed.

I’ve eaten at Holmes Plate a few times with my family and every time I’m disappointed at how greasy the food is. The fries, in particular, are always a soggy mess and I’d rather have frozen fries than the homemade ones served here. The last time my family ate there, we were constantly swatting flies away from our table, which doesn’t lend well to a very appetizing experience.

Finally made it to Holmes Plate on Corning’s Market Street. Very good food, good service. I liked the décor. Even a little room near the bathrooms with rocking chair, toys and book shelves. We went for lunch. They made a fresh pot of decaf for us and it was hot! Yes, I love my coffee hot! The Tomato Jack Soup is excellent. Topped with shredded cheese, served with small package of Saltines. A tiny bit spicy, just the way I like it. My grilled lemon garlic chicken and cheese quesadilla was very good – actually one and a half quesadillas. Took some home. My dining companion had a small bowl of the 23-ingredient(really?!) chill and ate every bite. He took home some of his lunch – huge serving — and it came with homemade potato chips! Bar on one side, also tables for eating, in one room; dining room, kids’ room and bathroom on the other side(other room). Only minus to the whole visit was the music. While it was great selection of tunes, I thought it was annoyingly loud the entire time. Reasonable prices. Got to talk with owners, Brendan and Kim. Very personable and welcoming. Parking in rear(or in front on Market St, if you can find a spot). Enter from front or rear. We’re likely to return, and I would recommend that you give it a try.

We picked this place based on Unilocal reviews and proximity. We arrived about 2:30pm and had apparently just missed the rush as we had the entire joint to ourselves. My son was turning 21 that day so he was looking forward to ordering a beer with his lunch. We were greeted by an awkward yet friendly server who quickly brought our drinks… and it was all downhill from there. We were all in a burger mood. Much to our surprise there was a note at the top of the menu stating a birthday burger of choice was free! Feeling lucky, we attempted to order it once our waiter returned. He questioned us like we were lying and asked to see ID which we happily obliged. As he scrutinize the ID he explained how we were lucky that a manager was there as he would have no way to offer us that discount. What? His whole tone made us defensive so I explained it was actually my son’s 21st and that the beer he was currently sipping was his first. The guy misunderstood and snatched that beer off the table so quick he nearly fell over. He was unable to comprehend what I was explaining. He thought he had just served a minor and was horrified. The burgers were good. The bread they were on toasted & fresh. My son loved the hard root beer he ordered and the rich chocolate Oreo cake dessert was really very good as well. It’s unfortunate that the service was so terrible.

Great Bloody Mary. Sampled the pulled pork and it was delicious. The owner is a nice guy. Cool building, copper top bar. In regards to the Bloody Mary I’m an X bartender and I assure you the mix is in the top 3 I’ve ever had. Don’t miss it.

The food is good(a little pricey) and they have a pretty good rotating draft list, local and regional craft brews. I always feel like I’m in the way, the flow is strange/uncomfortable, especially when your trying to get served at the bar. Like most places on Market Street, I won’t turn down a meal here, the food is definitely tasty! It’s worth a visit for sure.

Tried their BBQ half chicken at the GlassFest this past weekend! The chicken they were grilling outside the store was literally the most appetizing thing we saw the whole festival, we had to try it! Overall it definitely did look a lot better than it tasted, but it wasn’t bad! A little on the dry end, but still very delicious and put us in a good spot for our drive back to NYC! Thanks!

2.5 stars really. Stopped in here to dine as the place looked lively and inviting with lots of patrons on a Saturday on an otherwise quiet street at night in Corning. Nicely decorated dining area and bar. Hostess was very friendly and seated us right away. Our waitress was pleasant and prompt. Good sized menu offering soups, salads, appetizers, burgers and barbecue. Started off with the loaded nachos without bacon. The nachos were fresh, crispy and warm. The chili on top of them however was bland. Served with two tiny servings of sour cream and salsa. Jalapeños on the nachos were also not so spicy I don’t know why. Got the Philly burger. Good size, good bun but the meat lacked the spice and juice I crave in my burger. Tried both the sweet potato and regular fries and they were okay. Nothing too special. Probably a 4⁄10 on my burger awesomeness rating. Live music. Guy with a guitar singing. He was quite good. Waitresses take your order on an iPad and you pay via iPad as well which is cool. All in all a 2⁄5 for the food which needs improvement but the friendly staff, lively ambiance and live music earns it an extra point.
