Had breakfast here last summer while visiting. A-OK pretty much sums it up. Inexpensive for Coronado and the breakfast was pretty darn good. I would recommend it. Review solely based on breakfast.

Woohoo! $ 2.50 root beer floats in a medieval sized mug? Me likey. It’s $ 2 off floats and shakes M-F 3pm — 6pm. Like a Happy Hour for your sweet tooth. Food? Yeah, they have it. Meh. They also have kids eat free on wed after 4pm. Pretty cool … but I had to knock down from 4 to 3 stars cus they should tell you that it’s only if the parents buy an «entrée.» Of course, they do this to keep people from walking in getting like a water and a grilled cheese and thinking they can feed their their 20 kids for free. Which I get. But come on! We spent $ 20 on appetizers and desserts … doesn’t that count as an entrée?

Heres the facts: Food is ok, service is good, nice place and location!, bathroom needs a makeover seriously! Still want to try it? Then come for the location, desert, and good price. Looking for another better Diner? Go to Studio Diner. Seriously.

Ugh! Never Again! Hamburger tasted like cardboard. The french fries looked like they were fried in the bottom of a trash can. And, I’ve never had BBQ sauce as a main ingredient in chili. We worked our way through about 5 bites and finally gave up. Told the waitress who said, «I’m so sorry.» And proceeded to give me a bill for everything. No problem. I paid it but NEVER again will I eat at this place. Hey, you are in Coronado! How many great places are there to eat, even on the cheap?

Waitress was an bucking fitch. If you really don’t WANT to be tipped, nor do you WANT to serve people, then why be a server walking around with a stink face plastered on? The place itself is alright. convenient with outdoor seating and along the way to Coronado dog park. It has decent food if you stick to the the standard omelets and potatoes. If you sit outside, apparently the tables are SUPPOSED to be sticky because the sun slightly melts the plastic or whatever. Don’t politely ask the Latina waitress to clean it or she might… i don’t know, slap you or something if she was having a worse day than when we went.

Fun place and even though we went on a holiday weekend we found the service to be attentive. While not the speediest service, we were visiting with old friends so it didn’t bother us. What to know — lots of pancake options and tons of food for the price. I had the macadami coconut french toast and the coconut syrup made it a winner. Husband’s hash isn’t typical, loaded with more home fries than anything. Friend had the chicken fried steak which was a huge portion. While I’m not the biggest pancake fan, I think this is the place to come for pancakes. They were huge and fluffy and my friend really enjoyed her peanut butter banana wheat cakes. I’d go back again.

Where to begin? The long wait for our food? The barking dogs in the outdoor seating area? Or the pancakes that darn near required a steak knife to eat? When you can’t stick your fork through the pancake to hold it so you can use a knife to cut it, that’s not good. My wife struggled to cut through the short stack but it was a work out that negated the gym that day. Eventually I took over since my eggs were lukewarm and the sausage was charred black. The Diner was very busy that day so I can’t blame our waitress for the wait for the food or complain about the 20 minute wait to be seated. The waitress did her best. This was our last meal of our Coronado vacation and now we know where to tell people not to eat.

I’ve been here twice, and both times we were seated promptly on a weekend and were well attended to! It’s a Ruby’s-esque diner, with a gazillion milkshake options thanks to its affiliation with Moo Time Creamery(including malts!). We hit this place up for breakfast — there are about 20 pancake options. Last time I went for Hawaiian(macadamia coconut) Wheat Pancakes and they were absolutely awesome. Coffee was not so awesome — I got the coconut coffee and it was pretty bitter. Home fries were yummy. The milkshakes were so enticing that after our epic beach walk, my friends came back and got milkshakes later.(not me, still full from pancakes!) Service with a smile, California diner ambiance, a normal price tag & walking distance from the beach? It’s a safe bet for sure!

Hmm… where shall I start? Unlike most people who twitch at the chance to write a negative review I don’t find it gratifying so I’ll get straight to the point. We walked in for breakfast close to 11am on a near 80 degree morning, asked to dine outside and were seated next to a heater on full blast. These people not realize their in Coronado not Colorado? With definite tude the host directed us to another table. The horror we ordered: Biscuits w. Gravy — Fail Omelette — Fail Coco Waffles — Fail This establishment may do well elsewhere but you people have to realize, your in gorgeous Coronado where there’s soo much more pleasurably places to indulge. This is a for sure tourist trap that only looks attractive from the exterior. Probably the only flaw of our 4 day trip in Coronado.

Once upon a time, on an early weekday, I was whisked away in a black rabbit, with my eyes barely opened and my hands reaching out, groping for coffee. Before I know what happened, we had crossed the Coronado Bridge and ended up in front of this retro looking diner, which apparently, was opened for breakfast. We stepped in, thinking something magical would happen, and it did. Coffee magically showed up in my hand. Sssippp. Ahhh. We looked at the menu, and everything looked good. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner, dessert, shakes, malts, sodas, juice, pancakes, waffles, eggs, ligers, tigons and grolar bears, oh my! I settled on the huevos rancheros. I like myself some avocado. It was okay. My kidnapper ordered french toast, Elvis style. That means peanut butter, bananas, and powdered sugar on thick, soft slices of French toast. I fondly remember it as «Heart attack in between soft loaves.» We both ate as much as we could, and there was much leftover. To-go boxes at table 8, please! I really liked the décor. Reminded me of being in Happy Days. I was half-hoping that the Fonz would show up out of nowhere and a dance party would start. Oh, me and my poodle skirt.

Oh Gosh, Where should I start? I guess from the beginning. *Warning* this review is gonna be pretty bad: The host sat me right away. It took him 15 min to give me a menu… …Another 15 min to take my order. I ordered a coke, a side salad, and the Chicken Mac Cheese. The waitress brought out my salad and main at the same time. The lettuce in the salad was welted/dirty. The Mac Cheese tasted like Velveeta. The chicken on the Mac Cheese tasted like it was fried in dirty oil. The waitress was too busy tending to her other tables to give me a refill on my coke or ask how my food was. I waited so long for her to come to my table, I just got up, went inside and asked for the check. FINALLY I was asked how my food was(by the host that sat me). You better believe I told him the truth(see above). This place got another star because he was apologetic and discounted my bill.

I came to this place on a Saturday night and noticed it was not busy. My boyfriend and I were seated immediately. I thought, «Cool! We might get waited and get our food right away.» Boy, was I wrong. It took the waitress 15 minutes to come to our table and order our food. She didn’t even ask us what we wanted to drink. The hostess had to do the job for her. The family in the other booth was complaining to the hostess because they were waiting for a long time. The family came in before us and the waitress came to our table first. This place is like a Denny’s, but 50s themed. There is a great selection on breakfast, dessert, and even burgers. I ordered chicken waffles. It’s pretty good. I’m glad they served the breast portion of the chicken because I’m not a fan of the thigh. Pros: a wide range of food and breakfast is served all day Con: Service

On a busy night they had 2 waitresses and took about 15 minutes to get seated and another 15 minutes for them to take our order. Bad start right? My boyfriend ordered a Mahi burger. I took a bite and it was dry. The salad that came with it was no good either. It came with a vinegarette that was more like olive oil than anything else. I ordered breakfast with sunny side up egg, hash browns and wheat toast. Nothing special. In fact, I think Denny’s is better because they gave me my toast without the melting butter. Instead i was given cold butter that I had to serve myself.

If you weren’t aware, there’s a Denny’s in Coronado but it goes by the name Beach-N-Diner(which was breakfast spot #23). The only difference is the interior( ) which has a beach theme with surfboards and surf videos from the 50’s playing. Other than that, the food is pretty much the same. When I say food, in this particular instance I’m referring to their breakfast grub. Their pancakes( ) are steamrolled flat and I didn’t even finish them all. Their hash browns, bacon and eggs( ) are passable. Other than being able to watch a bunch of hot girls pass by this place, there isn’t much to say about BND. If you want to pay for food and not ambiance, go one block north to Clayton’s Coffee Shop — skip this place.

Leave it to me, an Eurasian girl to be about ‘50s diners. I think they’re cool, point blank, I don’t know what it is. I decided to stop here for lunch after a day at the Coronado Beach and I was rather disappointed. The service was not great, the waitress took forever to get me my malt milkshake! It arrived the same time as my food and the wait was rather long for the food. We were seated outside so I think they forgot about us because our food was lukewarm. Then when the food arrived, my burger wasn’t that great. I was rather disappointed.

We were just strolling along the main street of the downtown area of Coronado when we stumbled along this cute diner. Actually one of their tables were devouring a chocolate brownie dessert that looked just scrumptious. So we decided to stop and check it out. I like that they serve breakfast all day. It’s just one of those meals I like to have whenever I want. If breakfast isn’t your thing, they have salads and burgers as well as an extensive drinks and dessert menu. The Moo Time ice cream place is right next door so they serve most of their desserts with ice cream from there. I got the pecan and banana French toast. I don’t remember the exact name but the menu claims it as a local favorite. They used sweet Hawaiian bread and it’s topped with the nuts and fruit and some sort of caramel-y syrup. I didn’t even need to add the maple syrup the waitress kindly placed on our table right after we ordered our food. I’m more of a fan of the thicker Texas style toast to make French toast but this was pretty delicious too. Also I think the description said it came with three pieces of toast but four showed up on my plate so score — free food. Oh and you get a choice of sausage or bacon. I had the sausage but it was nothing special. My dining companion got the mahi mahi salad. It came in a huge plate with only one small piece of fish and a small cup of dressing on the side. He later had to ask for more dressing but the waitress was like no problem. It was a lot of food for me. So I only finished half my plate but my friend was able to help me out. :-P Later we got the Little Deuce Sundae. I think it the medium sized sundae with 2 scoops of ice cream, nuts, fudge, whipped cream and a cherry. Such a satisfying way to end the meal. Anyways, the waitress was very attentive and helpful. We sat outside on the patio and it was a very nice day to do so. Parking is located anywhere along the street. And the cost of the meal was average. I think both our dishes were under $ 10. And the sundae was 4. Although, I haven’t gotten a milkshake in awhile so I don’t know if the $ 5.25 price tag was average. It seems a bit pricey. But I’d rather get a two dollar shake from In-N-Out anyways. I might come back if I was in the area but you should definitely at least have some Moo Time Ice cream /dessert.

It gets me everytime– whenever I go swimming I become ravishingly hungry! Two of my friends and I went to Beach-N-Diner for lunch to save us from our hunger pangs. Everything looked pretty good– lots to choose from, and an amazing dessert menu from Moo Time Creamery next door. The portions were a lot bigger than we expected so we all had to take a doggy bag home. I thought it was pretty good– too bad the rest of the reviewers say different.

We walked to the Beach-N-Diner and got a table outside. Walking there is really recommended because parking along Orange Ave. is a bitch. Coronado has an idyllic lifestyle. Lots of seniors mixed with young people who were out on skateboards and bikes and walking their dogs. We had to get a table outside because Julia and Will brought Riley along. But inside definitely had a 50’s diner feel to it. Like in back to the Future. Honestly, it made for a better dining experience outside. I ordered a Big Woody, which sounded good from the description(it’s basically like a Double Double without the In-N-Out spread), even if it sounded dirty(and somewhat appropriate for Valentine’s Day). Julia had a Grilled Cheese, which was big, and Will also had one of the burgers but I can’t remember which one. I loved the big Coke plastic cups they had. Mine was a root beer while Will and Julia had strawberry lemonade. Food was decent. Fries were oversalted and half the burger was enough to leave me stuffed. The order took a while to get to our table, too. The waitress came over three times to check if everything was okay. I know it’s her job, but it really was bothering me. We were fine. It was not necessary to check so many times.

This place was highly disappointing. And filled with lame things, as listed below. Lame thing #1: You have you pay for your fries. Seems to me that if you order a burger or a sandwich, fries should come with it. I understand that they have different options of sides(fries, salad, etc), but charging for this seems ridiculous to me. It’s also pretty confusing and I’m lucky I saw the note about having to order a side or else I would have been pretty disappointed when my sandwich showed up alone. Lame thing #2: The cooks appear to suck at fulfilling special requests/orders(either that or the waitresses suck at writing said special orders down) and service is slow/unresponsive at best. At the table behind us, we witnessed/overheard a woman order her meal with a special request, have it arrive incorrectly prepared, try to no avail to flag down her waitress, flag down another waitress to get her own waitress, report the problem, and then… wait forever to have the problem corrected. However, the corrected order never actually arrived. The woman eventually told the waitress to forget the order and that it better not be on the check because she wasn’t paying. Lame thing #3: I had the Albacore Tuna Salad Sandwich, which was pretty decent. However, I asked to add avocado(an option on the menu). The first half of my sandwich was great, filled with a pretty good amount of avocado. The second half, however, did not have a single piece on it, making the second half of my meal disappointing. There are other lame things about this place, but they aren’t really worth my time. Let’s just say I likely wouldn’t return here… unless perhaps every other restaurant on Coronado was closed… and the bridge to leave had crumbled into the water…

I hate to do it, but I’m giving this place the ol’ sucks award. So I was walking around Coronado just for grins one evening and came across this place. Unfortunately(or maybe Fortunately) they were closing for the evening so I was not able to jump right in and grab a bite. Well a few weeks later the opportunity presented itself and I convinced a few friends to roll on over to Coronado and check it out. 1. Rude Wait Staff — Ok here I go again. I cannot stand rude wait staff. Why would you get pissy with your customers when they ask you for a water? Ohhh I’m sorry I asked one of your friends and they had to come get you from your smoke break but honestly, it is your job! Oh wait maybe the whole play on word with Beach-N-Diner meant that you actually get«beached» at in the diner. Hella lame. 2. So So Food — I would not call the food inedible but I would not call it good. I had a cheeseburger, how hard can that be? Apparently it is pretty difficult for the Beach-N-Diner. Stereotypical complaint but, I asked for medium and it came out like a charred cinder block! One of my friends had the rueben which was alright, oddly enough. Ok so you can make a rueben but not a cheeseburger. Weird. 3. Atmosphere — Ok the place looks neato. That’s where they get their one star. Well I’m not really a heartless bastid so I thought I’d be nice and give the place an email and say hey you know what, y’all’s employees were a little bit mean the other day and I thought you should know. Most places would be all over feedback like that. They were not. Check this one off the list.
