Established in 1976.

Birkenstock of San Diego represents the oldest and largest collection of Birkenstock specialty stores on the West Coast. We are a small family owned and operated, San Diego based, comfort footwear retailer that can trace it’s humble beginnings back to September of ’76. It all began with Birkenstock sandals, but soon grew to encompass unique comfort footwear from all over the world. Our stores now feature hundreds of styles from over 30 different manufacturers!

WOW !!! I would give these guys TEN stars if I could — I tend to wear the same model of shoe until it’s discontinued and just buy repeats? so I walked in wearing my sixth consecutive pair of size 8.5 Ahnus, which I’ve liked but which were getting tight — TONY figured out just looking at my beat up shoes that I’ve been wearing them too small and showed me how to tie a pair of size 9.5’s in the same model correctly, and now my feet don’t ache !!! thanks man !!!

I came in here to try on some Birkenstocks and possibly buy some. Amanda was very friendly and helpful. She was very knowledgable and was also giving me some other styles of Birkenstocks just to try them on. Very sweet girl. Unfortunately they didn’t have exactly what I was looking for, but I am planning on returning in the future.

This was first time buying birkenstocks and I could not have been happier. The store was very nicely organized and easy to find. Amanda, the sales associate was very knowledgeable of the product. And she wore birkenstocks herself. Very friendly and was extremly helpful to me while I hesitant in making my purchase.
I definitely do recommend this store to everyone.

I loved shopping in your Encinitas location. The staff was friendly and clearly knew all their product lines. I bought one pair and was able to order another pair in the color I wanted. I always think of this store when I need attractive but practical walking shoes.

So I went into this store while on vacation to pick up a new pair of sandals, didn’t really wear them but noticed the next morning that they were really not very comfortable so I went back and they were happy to make sure I could exchange them for a more comfortable pair. I was very appreciative and couldn’t be happier with my new pair

The Coronado store is great. We went yesterday to buy Vibram FiveFingers and the guy working was great! Helpful, pleasant and made it a pleasure to spend money! I would recommend this place. Check out their website for the many brands that they sell.
