Went there on Sunday and ordered gyros sandwich to go. After 20 – 25 min I waited again in line to ask when my sandwich was. Sitting on the counter along w several other containers. When I tried the sandwich it was cold, meat was burnt and not enough sauce. I asked the server for more sauce to which he said its on the sandwich. I asked for more sauce which took a few more minutes to get. My friend ordered a Greek salad. Very marginal. Lettuce was old and she had two bites and said she’s never coming back. She’s a local! Word of caution: customers and your life blood. Get it right and say it w a smile. I won’t be back.

As I’m writing this review on Valentine’s Day 2016 at 7pm we ordered over 40 minutes ago. Yes I understand it’s Valentine’s Day BUT clearly you’re a popular Greek FASTFOOD restaurant down here at CORONADO. Plan accordingly. The man who took our order is clearly unhappy and is not a but friendly. They were out of Calamari(which they should of put on the menu OR at least said something because we waited 20min in line) ANYWAYS our food was a to go order which took almost an hour. It was good. Chicken gyro, which we ended up eating there because why not? We’ve already waited an hour? It’s good food, just be prepared to wait if its a holiday or weekend or good beach day. They need to man up on their staff and be more aware of customers needs.

My boyfriend and I wanted to try this place after a nice long boarding sesh around Coronado and we were pretty hungry. Got here and there were a lot of people there and in line so I thought it was a pretty good sign. Spent $ 22 on calamari, a lamb/beef gyro sandwich and a medium Greek salad. Food came out and I expected more food for the price I paid. The food here is ok. I was really disappointed because I was so hungry and looked forward to trying this place out. The food was very bland. The salad looked wilted, the calamari lacked flavor and the sauce it came with wasn’t for me, the gyro was ok, a lot of tomatoes and tasteless sauce than meat. BUT whatever meat I had, that was pretty good, wish I had more though. My boyfriend and I were still hungry after eating. Felt like we didn’t eat anything. My tastebuds have been disappointed. This place is not the place to get delicious Greek food.

cruisin’ with my dog on the island, and felt i needed a little ‘snack’. popped in to this ‘family’ joint: dissapointed. first, the young cashier(no name tag) doesn’t know her stuff– when asked how the chicken is prepared for the sandwhiches, she had no idea and even better: SAIDTHECHICKENWASFAKE! in come some macho man, hat backward, flannel shirt, no name tag and interjects that the chicken is real but on a spindle(like gyro meat). okay. got it… then, i asked why there isn’t a price on one of the menu items on the board above the cashier station: the cashier said i would have to ask the manager. i asked: may i speak with the manager… cashier: no. she isn’t here!!! omg! then, mr. flannel shirt interjects: we have had a busy day, yada yada, yada– and, haven’t put up prices or … got it… and, this is my fault because why? i said: it would have been better to answer with something to the effect of: gosh– thanks for mentioning it. the price should be posted as such and such… proceeded to the drink station… water jugs empty… filled one for me! omg. got my meal soon and it was pretty good. asked mr. flannel shirt for extra tahini sauce. LIKE I COMMITED A CRIME!!! a quick moment later, he slapped a little container of tahini on my table. food, okay… CUSTOMERSERVICE.ZERO. NADA. ZIP… won’t be back…

It was my fault that I ordered fish and chips from a Greek fast food place. The breading had pretty much zero flavor and was a little greasy. The gyros was very good though. It was one of those moments when I looked at my wife’s gyros and my fish and knew that I made a mistake. As an aside, it would be nice if the guy taking our order would have smiled or interacted more than just to punch our order into the machine. This is a tourist place… be a little friendly to the people, please. Great scenery here, though. Beautiful view of San Diego across the bay.

Food is pretty good. Location and view are good. Prices are fair. The only downside is the old, crabby, white lady. She’s a real joy to be around. She’s the opposite of friendly. She’s been a miserable wench both times we’ve come in. Miss personality, here’s a pointer, when you manage a business or whatever it is that you do, it’s ok to smile. Have a nice day.

simple restaurant with some great food. Gyros Platter was solid. It was appropriately priced and tasty. My colleague had the greek pizza which was a large pita with chicken gyros on it. It was a nice lunch and the right price. 1 word… Solid; The baklava looked awesome but the main dishes were too filling for dessert!

Amazing gyros. Great prices, and their staff was so courteous and positive to my girlfriend and I. Seriously, best gyro I’ve had in a while, and the platter was a great deal as well. Def. check it out.

Good Greek in a great relaxing setting. You have to order at the counter but they bring the food out to the patio which overlooks the bay from Coronado. Overall 4 stars… food: 3.75 stars… salad a little disappointing(bland)…gyros…good. friendly and reasonably priced. We’ll be back

I ordered the filet mignon kabob and it lacked seasoning and could have stay on the grill a bit longer. The tziki sauce needed more dill or just some seasoning. I really wanted to like this place because the people who work there are very nice, but unfortunately, the food was pricey and lacked flavor.

Love this place! Great people and always a good meal. I am a bit spoiled, they are right down the street. Easy to call in an order for pick up and a beautiful restaurant by the bay if you want to dine in. Great value… Try it!

The view is great and service is friendly. I ordered a gyro and a beer. The gyro lacked flavor as did the sauce. At least the beer was cold. Don’t expect much from the food, but stay for the location.

There is a before and after Spiro’s Gyros. It was a wonderful authentic place before they sold out to some chain restaurant. I have been a customer of Spiro’s Gyros for many years, back when a nice man named Jimmy was the manager. The food was authentic Greek. The feta was incredibly fresh and wonderful, the salad dressing was so delicious I don’t know how they could make lettuce taste so good! All their meat dishes were wonderful, home cooked and what you would expect you might get in a traditional home cooked Greek restaurant. Just wonderful! Fast forward to present … same owner? That’s what they say. Then that is all that is the same. It is fast, cheap and very bad food now. I used to order the Corfu chicken and it was so good I would always eat too much! Now it is some rubbery fake tasting chicken that doesn’t even have the texture of real chicken. Gross! This food is horrible, this was one of my favorite restaurants in the city and I am a third generation native so I am familiar with the small, non touristy spots. I would never return to Spiro’s Gyros. It’s too bad, I will miss the old place, it was really awesome.

The food tasted great. HOWEVER, I found hair in my garlic mash potatoes and the spanakopita. The staff advised and said there was no this he could do about it and to speak to the person in the back. Wouldn’t recommend this restaurant. Eater beware!!!

I had the chicken gyro, my husband ordered the beef but was given the lamb by mistake. His was my favorite. Chicken was tender and well marinated, pita was soft. Could have used more tzaztki sauce.

I thought they weren’t too bad. I will be back. I enjoyed the gyro platter with fries. The service wasn’t too bad, but then again, I was taking it to go. They were pretty fast in my order, but I walk by this place everyday and hear people complaining for the wait for their food.

This place is great, they reopen July 22nd after a summer remodel. We’ve been missing their chicken gyro platter — hope they’ve kept the menu!

Well, although my experience was sub-par, I am optimistic that thisngs are gonna be much better. They will be closing for remodeling on April 30. Hopefully that means they will clean off all of the years of grime on everything. The gyro that I bought was NOT cheap, they are pricey for a cold gyro meat sandwich on thick pita bread. I’m hoping that they will be better at heating the meat thoroughly and putting more love into their food. When I visited there weren’t any smiles, but I think that a fresh coat of paint will improve everyone’s mood here. Great location.

Not a fancy place, but solid food. We came here a couple of weeks ago after taking the ferry over. I had the falafel sandwich, my daughter had the falafel plate, and my granddaughter had the kid’s quesadilla with fries. Reasonable prices, fast service and I don’t mind bussing my own table.

My sister and I love walking at the Ferry Landing and always pass by this restaurant, we dropped my mom off to her meeting at Sharp Coronado and decided to finally give this place a try while we wait for her. I love that this place is right near the water and you have a beautiful view of the Downtown skyline! It was my sister and I’s first time eating a chicken souvlaki and we both thought it was ok, my sister was complaining to me about how her’s was super dry and it did not come with the sauce that it said was with. As for mine, it had the right amount of sauce still tasted bland to me though. The souvlaki consisted of marinated chicken, sauce, onions and tomatoes on a pita bread, 2 sandwiches for $ 15. Kind of expensive for a meal that we can probably make at home. Overall, my experience was ok, I would probably try their platters next time.

I love this place. My family and I were just walking around Coronado then we saw this place and decided to try it out. Everything is fresh and good, especially their pita bread. Soooo yummy! I always get the shrimp gyro platter. It’s $ 11-$ 12, but it’s worth it for me. You can either sit inside or outside; I always sit outside to enjoy the ocean view. I’ve been here so many times and I never leave disappointed. Definitely my favorite place to eat in Coronado!

So this is embarrassing, but my cousin and I ate here for 4 days in a row. YES. Day 1. We discover it and fall in love. The food was amazing and the views are gorgeous of beautiful downtown San Diego & the bay. Day 2. We realize we must go back the next day and decide to try something else. We also were looking for this Greek cookie which I forgot the name of. The lady tells us she’ll be making it the following day. You know what that means. Day 3. We return for the cookies, but stayed for dinner. Oops. Day 4. Her husband realizes he must try the place we have been eating at for the past 3 days. So, of course, we accompany him. And that is how I ate at Spiro’s for 4 days in a row. #noragrets
