The wings are terrible. I can forgive them for severely over cooking them to the point that they were as dry as my 93 year old aunts vag, the cook was probably at a kegger all night! BUT they were also tiny! And that is on the owners. Been there 2 – 3 times, usually decent, but I think my relationship with Hairy Tony is damaged!

3.5 stars if I could… Great beer selection. Food was above average… We had Mac and cheese(above average), pulled pork sandwich(decent, a little soggy — side of nachos was way soggy and stale) and creole/Cajun pasta which was really nice and balanced in flavor but very small and maybe only a cup of cooked penne pasta, a link of sausage, 2 shrimp, and 3 – 4 oz of chicken. Would eat here again– the menu has a really nice collection of food.

I give Hairy Tony’s major props for straying from old standbys frequently and usually with excellent results. Where else in Cortland are you going to find some of these dishes? Falafel-breaded fried chicken? Tuna and Watermelon appetizer special? Get outta here. I love it. Apart from the well-executed specialities, the menu also offers plenty of simple, delicious classic options that still manage to have verve. Oh and the service is just fantastic. Hairy Tony’s is definitely in the upper echelon of my favorite restaurants, and I’m not just talking about Cortland.

Been here twice in last few years. Food selection is very good. Atmosphere is very nice. The food was excellent both visits. They have seafood steaks ribs. I had sea bass this trip. It was great. The prices are also very reasonable.

My burger was delicious and perfectly cooked. My friend ordered the duck and was excellent. Wine flights are available for those who can’t decide. Great ambiance and service.

Definitely one of the best restaurants in this whole town. There’s an option for everyone and the wide selection makes it hard to choose! I got ribs while my friend got shepherd’s pie, both were delicious and didn’t take too long to come out. We split pork nachos, which came in a gigantic paella sized pan! There was no way we could finish it but if you’re going with a crowd, this is the appetizer to go to. We got lettuce wraps as another appetizer and the whole dish was three small pieces of lettuce, which is okay when you’re with two people but if you’re not, beware! Hairy Tony’s also has an insane bar from all the beers that are on tap and all the types of alcoholic flights you can do here!

Too loud, seating is poor, manager was disrespectful to us and arrogant. Will never return.

Just moved to the area and decided to grab some take out! We selected the chichen snitzel with german potato salad, chicken livers and carrot cake. My boyfriend and i loved the warm, sweet german potato salad but i personally found the cut of the chicken to be too thick for this particular dish this resulting in a dry taste. I am used to veal or pork snitzel in which the meat is pounded thin and breaded then fried, the pounding of the meat makes it tender and the thin slices keep it most. To me this was like a dry chicken cutlet, but my bf liked it. The liver was ok as well. I thought it would be more of a paté but it was still good. There was also a glaze or sweet sauce that helped me trick my bf into trying it. The carrot cake was great! I’ll definitely try this place again but we’ll dine in so we can ask how it’s prepared.

When I first walked in I thought the place smelt kinda funny. I was seated by the door and it was about 10 degrees outside. There was plenty of other tables not sure why they say us there. I ordered a steak sandwich medium rare but I got free cow on bread I mean this steak was purple. Otherwise it was great :)

The best fries you’ll find anywhere — and they give you a mountain of them! I’ve gone to Hairy Tony’s many times over the years, and you can always count on a good to fantastic meal. Sometimes seating is not optimal, but the service is always friendly and attentive. One of my favorites!

The place has more to its ambience than its food. Food and service was just straight regulation. Nothing special. If I lived in that neighborhood I’d definitely go back for a pint but as a traveler, once is just enough.

Went here based on Unilocal reviews and I was not let down. Ordered the skirt steak sandwich which comes with onion rings. First attempt was cold and raw in the middle. I like me a medium-rare steak but cold inside is just inedible. I sent it back and without a fuss the bartender and manager offered to bring me a new one. Kudos to the place for giving me a free beer while I waited — it’s the little things like this that set places apart. Second attempt was cooked much better and the steak itself was very well marinated and delicious. The onion rings were crispy and delicious as well. I had two IPAs while I was there, both of which were ice cold and tasty. They must have 20 – 30 different tap options. I’ll definitely hit them up again if I’m back in town.

My fiancé and I ate here on a Friday evening. We had never been here before. We were seated in the back by the bathroom and the kitchen. So, we had to deal with constant traffic by our table. The lighting sucked too. We were impressed with the menu. We thought it was a great selection. We skipped the appetizers and just started with drinks. I ordered the«One Heck of a Pork Chop» and my fiancé ordered a «Old Crazy Caruso’s Flatbread Pizza» and a side of shoestring fries. The pork chop was cooked well and came with Apple chutney on top. The dish also came with sweet risotto and sautéed Swiss chard. It was all good and I ate every bit of it. The risotto was a little too sweet in my opinion but it was still good. My fiancé said that the flatbread pizza was delicious too. She ate almost all of the personal-sized pizza. I chomped on some of her fries and although they were too salty, they too were delicious. The staff was average. They were attentive but not too overbearing. This would have been a four-star review if we had been seated in a better location and the lighting was better.

This is a bar right? Waitress says they have discontinued Bacardi. I ask who discontinued Bacardi, the bar or the company? She says maybe it’s on back order. Maybe I am an asshole. Then the food came ordered the fish taco. Yes I am the asshole. Worst thing I ever ate. Do like the JETS, never come to Cortland or Hairy Tony’s again!

Chad’s eSCAPE review Great restaurant hidden in a bar… Service(+). My waitress was very friendly, super attentive and happy to be there. She treated all patrons with a smile and made the visit very pleasant. Cost(+). At first glance I would say the prices were a bit high for a bar, but after looking at the very thorough menu, it was evident that this was much more than a bar restaurant. The prices were absolutely appropriate for the level of food served. Atmosphere. It is a hidden gem of a restaurant hidden within a bar setting. There was a few seats outside, a very large bar and then a handful of tables inside behind the bar. I was looking for something quick, easy and«bar-like» and ended up having a very upscale dinner. Palate(+). I ordered a filet that came with green beans and wasabi mashed potatoes. The filet was cooked perfectly, the green beans were spiced nicely but the mashed potatoes were absolutely amazing. I would come back for them alone. What a unique flavor combination. Everything Else(+): The menu was very large and had choices from Rare Sushi Grade Tuna plates to plain Macaroni and cheese. If you are looking for fine dining, they have the menu to support it, even if in a bar setting. I’d definitely go back if I was in the area again, especially now that I know what to expect.

This place was a great find… probably one of the best places in Cortland we’ve found. They were very accommodating with our special request… I have a bunch of dietary restricitions… I ordered a glass of wine and the pour was great. Overall a great experience… we would come back and would recommend this place to others. I ordered a strip steak… medium…it came out great and the veggies were also very tasty!

The flights are a great way to try new things! Also, if you catch them on a slow afternoon(Saturday), they will be open to customizing their flight menu. We tried a flavored vodka flight. Some were good, and some were not, but now we know! This place is service-oriented!

I love this joint. I got introduced to it by a friend who’s local and went for the first time last year — the food is amazing, the beer selection great, and they offer wine, beer, and whiskey flights for those so inclined. I’ve since returned every time I’ve been even remotely close to Cortland, which seems to happen at least a couple of times a year. The prices are odd. Cheap drinks, food a little on the pricey side, so it balances out — but the thing is that the food is excellent and good value. And the service has always been friendly and thorough. I wish it was closer to home for me. Last time there I had Chicken Riggies, apparently a local speciality. Very, very tasty indeed.

I’ve lived in Cortland for 5 years and never knew this place was a restaurant. I always thought it was just a bar like the Dark Horse next door. I’m glad we gave it a try as the service was fast, food was great, and the beer selection huge. Also their schnitzel is fantastic.

One of the best dinner ever! I’m Pretty picky, I’m italian I don’t eat Tons of stuff but their cook is great! We had tuna, salmon and the best caramel cheesecake ever! Did I say we are from NYC? We never had something like this and New York ‘s restaurant are really expensive and classy and«impressive». It looks like a old american bar at the first sight. But the environment is good the waiters are so cute, and the food is excellent!
