I think that pizza reviews and commentary can be biased for everyone, based on what you had growing up. For my husband and I, we grew up in Cortland and this is the best pizza to our standards. Let me just say one thing– I am a die hard mushroom lover. Nothing grosses me out more than canned mushrooms on pizza. Pontillo’s uses the fresh, only the best ingredients. It’s hard to find comparable pizza(maybe Francos) in Syracuse but this is hands down, homemade, comfort food. The wings are the meatiest and sauciest you can ever get. Support your local businesses folks. The family knows what they are doing!

Not sure how my pizza slice tastes but after the guy added pepper and onions with his bare hands I’m a bit skeptical– disgusting display of cleanliness– wear gloves bro!

Excellent pizza, reasonable prices and friendly service. Great place for lunch. Get there early on Friday for dinner as it is always busy. Dinner menu is full of Italian dishes that you might not expect from a «pizza parlor» Recommended especially when the college kids are out of town…

Absolutely the best pizza joint in Cortland. And they have the best chicken parm in the areas as well. Could the building be better laid out and updated, sure, but you can’t beat the food!

I’ve eaten at Pontillo’s several times since moving to Cortland, and I like it. Is it the best pizza I’ve ever had? No. Were the wings gourmet? No, but who wants gourmet wings? The thing I really like about the pizza is the option to order a 9″ pizza, which is plenty for just me and enough for lunch the next day. The servers are friendly and the delivery drivers are great. It takes a while to get your order if you have it delivered, but as long as you call ahead in plenty of time, it’s not a big deal. The only real complaint I have about Pontillo’s is that they don’t have a bar. I live within walking distance of Pontillo’s and it would be awesome if they served beer to go with their pizza and wings. Not really a big deal, it’s just always nice to at least have the option to order alcohol.

I ventured to Cortland thinking I’d be going to treat myself to the same pontillos experience as in Rochester. Nope. Completely different food. Same in name only. Its too bad because pontillos in Rochester is the best pizza in New York. This tasted like frozen pizza.

Heard good about this place from friends so was in Cortland and decided to give a was lousy. was hand tossed lets not miss out that I watched it being made which was kinda neat. however dough was tough and dry. Not crispy just dry. sauce was good tasting but very little used. cheese was average cheap mozzarella that was tough. wings were actually good but over priced for just 10 wings. sandwhich was run of the mill gas station grade. waitress very nice and helpful but didn’t seen to know the menu when I asked a few questions and many many people in and out and behind the prep area while food was being made in street clothes with no regard to cleanliness. Probably won’t be going back.

Wanted to try something different besides a pizza and more or brix. Me and my two roommates decided to check out pontillos. We got there and place was pretty quiet. Ordered 2 large 16″ 12 slice pizzas for just under $ 30. Pizza was good but somewhat tasteless and just bland. I really wasn’t impressed with the overall taste. Place seems outdated and could use a remodeling.

Was a Pontillo fan back in the days when Ron was still around. The pizza was different from a lot of the others, but I enjoyed it and it was close by for me.

I’m in town for a night and thought I’d order pizza from a local joint instead of supporting the pizza hut or domino’s franchise so I decided to call up this place, and ordered a Medium Pizza with Pepperoni and Mushrooms. The pizza was tasteless! it’s like they forgot to put tomato sauce on it! It was sloppily made and lacked tomato sauce, if this was a «special» pizza then I’ve totally missed the point. Stick with Domino’s or Pizza Hut while you’re in town. –Uploaded a photo«lacking tomato sauce» for reference.
