I’ve been coming to this place for about 2 years now and I enjoy it. There really aren’t a lot of decent food options here in Cortland, and Wild Ginger is one of the only places that my boyfriend and I keep coming back to. I’ve had good experiences dining in and picking up. They’re always timely, friendly, and the food is decent. If you need a sushi fix, this will do the job. Earlier tonight I had a Philly roll, a Spicy Salmon roll, and saved some General Tsos tofu for later. Delicious.

This place is nothing like the Wild Ginger on Long Island! The wait was over an hour long. The sushi was just ok and the not sospicy dishes were too spicy. Nothing amazing but the pork goyzas and crab ragoons were nice, greasy and tasty!

Very good food. Sushi was fresh, my hot meal was hot. Restaurant is clean, would eat here again when passing through Cortland.

Can anyone else find their menu online? I can’t. They are very hard to understand over the phone. I ordered chicken teriyaki, a salmon avocado roll, and a spicy tuna roll. The sushi was delicious, as always. The chicken teriyaki sauce was thin and lacking flavor. It came with white rice but no vegetables. The chicken was on top of what looked like a whole sautéed onion. It was ridiculous how many onions there were, especially without the presence of other veggies. I would stick with the sushi and hibachi if you’re thinking about going here.

I had lunch here last week and while the hostess didn’t seem to know what her job was(to be friendly and welcoming) the TNT roll I had was great. The atmosphere was nice and on the quiet side which was perfect. There aren’t many choices for Asian or sushi in this town so I will be back again, hoping for a smiling face to greet us next time.

Avoid the thai tea at all costs. It’s very watered down and I couldn’t handle more than a few sips. The hibachi is good and the cook was friendly. The food overall was mediocre. Sushi was alright, the onion soup tasted like sweat(I KNOW), but the dressing on the salad was probably the best thing I had. We had a party of 9 sitting around the hibachi grill in the back and the room smelled musty and like stale beer. I wouldn’t come back here

This was the worst sushi I’ve ever had. I ordered the spicy roll dinner, which purported spicy tuna, salmon, and crab rolls. I expected fresh sashimi in the rolls. Instead I received the classic hallmark of a struggling sushi restaurant. Leftover-who-knows-how-many-days-old-ground-unidentifiable-questionable-origins«sushi salad.» The miso soup was bland and fishy with pea-sized elusive bits of tofu. my friend’s teriyaki tofu came in large slabs with an indiscernible crust. The side of rice was sushi rice. The only redeeming factors were the broccoli that accompanied the tofu and the delightful ginger-laden dressing on the salad, which was nothing but iceberg lettuce with a singular cucumber. Go to Ithaca if you want sushi.

Everything was un-remarkable. Had Thai basil chicken — not much chicken, salty — not much basil or thai flavor. Sushi was not very flavorful. Miso soup tasted off. They’re open on Monday.

I am a frequent visitor in Cortland and i do not miss going to this place ever since it opened. It has the perfect atmosphere, great great sushi, a full bar, hibachi and overall great environment. Its usually crowded in the evening so im assuming its one of the most popular new places out here. I definitely recommend it to everyone. Its a must go place. Plus the food is not $$$$, its more like $$.

I had sushi, which was well made, tasty, & fairly generous portions. The two kids with me had hibachi, which they said was delicious, but I was unimpressed with the service: they were unwilling to make any changes to the menu, and«I’d like to take the rest of this home» resulted in a styrofoam container being plunked in front of me unceremoniously. Upside: they’re open on Mondays.

I went to WIld Ginger a few days after they opened for hibachi with a small group. The chef was very entertaining and the staff was efficient. My chicken was a tad bit overcooked but overall I was very satisfied with my dining experience. I’ll be going back to try other parts of the menu.

We were really looking forward to a great sit-down Asian experience after 2 days of Thanksgiving fare. We had a party of five on Friday night. It wasn’t too busy and we called ahead, so we were sat down right away. We ordered relatively quickly and got a variety of things: sushi, shrimp teriyaki, a side of fried rice and edamame and shrimp shumai as appetizers. The apps came out relatively fast, but the edamame was’t that hot. Then we waited an additional 50 minutes until one of our entrees came, with the side of rice. The rice was not hot and we sent it back. The rest of the entrees came out at least 10 minutes after the first entrée. A plate came out with a piece of paper stuck to it. The ambience was lacking with no music playing in the background. We were also disappointed there was no option for the low sodium soy sauce. Good luck to them but we won’t be going back.

Four Thumbs Up! Four of us were pleasantly surprised with the fine Asian fare we had at the Wild Ginger on an evening out. Our surprise was largely due to the fact that that they were only into their fourth day of operation and we expected that they would still be working out some kinks. In spite of the fact that some items on the menu were not yet available and the restaurant was still awaiting their liquor license, it was an evening of total dining satisfaction. Their Asian menu runs the gamut of Thai, Japanese, and Chinese cuisines including bento boxes on the lunch menu. A sushi bar and at least two very popular and evidently entertaining hibachi tables rounded out the variety of offerings. Service was knowledgeable and efficient. The booth seating and low-key lighting made the dining experience a little more intimate. Our party enjoyed a range of dishes including Asian salads, steamed dumplings, and miso soups for appetizers and salmon teriyaki, sushi specials, a tempura shrimp and udon noodle bowl as well as a stir-fried saba noodle and shrimp dish. We were especially impressed with the delicate shrimp shumai which seemed freshly prepared and the delicious«Rock N Roll» and«Mt Fuji roll» sushi. Salmon teriyaki was a definite hit. The saba noodle dish while cooked to perfection with a generous portion of shrimp would have benefitted from more aggressive seasoning. We overcame this deficit by utilizing the other condiments we had on our table. A selection of popular Chinese entrees and appetizers was also offered. Be assured that we’ll surely give these a try on our next visit which will be very soon.
