Of the three bookstores in downtown Corvallis, this is the best. The reason is simply this: it has class. I love the small indie bookstore. This is the bookstore you would want to do a reading at when you finally published your book. It has the most recent releases plus you can order any book you want and it will arrive within a few days. Yes, I love this book store. When I took my book-loving friends on a tour of Corvallis, I had to show them THIS bookstore, because seriously, it’s my favorite. Come here. Buy a book. Be happy.

I tend to buy books from places that offer discounts, be that used stores or Amazon, but when I’m in Corvallis, I make a point to pick a few, pay the full price, and support this great store.
More than a few times, I’ve wanted something that hasn’t been in stock and they’re ordered it (free of charge) for me. Great service and never any indication this is a hassle or not worth their time.
The space is great to wander– books, gifts, magazines, music, and maybe there is even coffee/snacks? I’m often coming from a stomach full at New Morning, but recall something else behind the music counter?
Any way you slice it, this space is warm, welcoming, friendly, and full of people who know about and love books. Supporting them is a pleasure.

Great local bookshop!
They’ve also got an incredible musical selection of the newest folk/americana/blues/bluegrasss cds, I probably spent 45 minutes scanning them all.

Grassroots is a longtime Corvallis institution. They’ve always had an interesting selection of books-from the latest best sellers to the New Agey books about channeling angels. One can spend hours there.
An underrated aspect is its surprisingly sizeable music section. One can listen to sample CDs prior to purchase (or else, choose against it) They do a great job with special orders. I ordered an album from Brazil – and it came within a reasonable amount of time. Their great service (how many places would order from a Brazilian music label? Would a chain store do that?) trumps the fact that the owners recommended the Dave Matthews Band to me.
Grassroots shows that the roots of a wonderful business is top-notch service. They’ve been around for 3 decades… let’s hope it stays as it is, a great Corvallis institution!

Really great staff that goes out of your way to help you find the type of book you’re looking for when you just have no idea. They also make recommendations as your browsing to help you find your way. Cool place, friendly people, and it’s great to support a local business. I just wish their books were a little cheaper instead of the standard price, but I guess that’s how the book market goes.

A corner stone of Corvallis, this is the quintessential bookstore you’ll love to love.
I was unprepared for just how packed to the brim with new and favorite titles they had. Throughout the years, I found some of my most favorite books here, thanks to theknowledgeable staff. Plus they special ordered a book I’ve been looking for forever, and had it in my hot little hands in 3 days.
If you treasure a small town atmosphere in Corvallis, please come support this locally owned and independent bookstore!
