I’ve recently discovered Diptyque fragrances, and I was excited about visiting their boutique in South Coast Plaza. From the moment I walked into their store, I felt a weird vibe like as if I wasn’t really welcomed as their customer. I suppose the fact that I was dressed like I was on my way to the gym made them think that I wasn’t up to par in their hoity-​toity store.
The sales rep (an Asian girl who’s name escapes me) kept trying to push their line of candles on me, but I wasn’t interested in spending $ 62.00 for a stupid candle. So, when I kept returning to the perfume/​cologne table, she eventually gave up and just stayed behind the cash register counter at the back of the store, even though there were no other customers present. Another sales rep (a guy) didn’t even bother to greet me. Regardless, I felt that both sales reps were extremely rude in their disregard for not treating me better as a potential customer. They don’t know that I have the means and the bank account to spend some serious money on colognes I like; although, I find it hard to justify spending $ 62.00 on a stupid boutique candle. I’m not a price-​sensitive customer, I’m just a price-​wise customer.
Needless to say, I was completely put off by my experience at the South Coast Plaza Diptyque store, and I walked out of there without even purchasing anything. Therefore, whenever I need to purchase more Diptyque fragrances in the future, a different fragrance store that I frequent will ultimately receive my business. I plan to completely avoid this store altogether. As a good paying customer, I don’t need to experience rudeness or to be ignored by the help!

I have always had great experiences coming into the store. Jane is very knowledgable and listens to what kind of fragrances you like. She always has good suggestions for gifts and personal shopping. I will definitely be coming back to see her and her manager.

I love this brand. I’ve owned only a dozen or so candles but never ventured into the perfume. With some kinda guidance from the shop’s perfumer I found a fantastic scent. Reduction in stars has to do with the overall vibe. I know south coast is generally uppity and most stores hire staff with a profiling eye but this was just a perfume/​candle shop, not a exotic car showroom! No need to size someone up store representative. I like this brand so much I wish they’d hire some down to earth, highly knowledgeable and friendly staff. As an example, Creed perfumers are magical loving scent wizards which makes the experience alone worth the $ 200 bottle of perfume. Fix it!

Stopped in today looking for a gift. Raven was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. She also shared with me some different programs they were offering and specials that were available in the mall. Diptyque is one of my favorite candles, never disappointed and the service is excellent. If your looking for a special gift for someone or a treat for yourself you should check them out!

I had been thinking, thinking, thinking for a verrry long time about buying a votive candle in the very popular scent Baies. I mean, $ 30…on a candle… on a VOTIVE size candle. It was definitely a purchase that required a lot of thinking for me. I’m not rich, so I didn’t want to dive in head first. LOL But… one weekday evening my husband and I decided to walk around South Coast Plaza, and…
I just happened to stumble into the boutique. *gasp*
I was greeted immediately by Raven and was offered assistance should I need any.
I found what I was looking for and meandered around for a little bit.
Raven told me information about the company, products and candle I was purchasing. Thus, I put back the votive and bought the 6.5 oz candle. LOL
My purchase was beautifully wrapped, and Raven threw in a bunch of samples.
Following my visit, I received a personalized email thanking me for my purchase and offering assistance with future purchases.
The boutique is beautiful. The customer service is top notch. I can’t vouch for the candle yet, because I have yet to burn it.

Wow!!! Accidentally happened upon this little boutique and just LOVE the atmosphere. They have all the fragrances that will sing to your soul hooked! They’re also equipped with the most awesome, friendly, laid back and knowledgeable SA team ever. I learned quite a bit, snatched up a couple delectable fragrances and discovered one of the most beautiful room diffusers I’ve ever seen (which smells AMAZING :) this hidden find is a definite keeper.

A new addition to SCP, Diptyque carries amazing fragrances. Yes, they have the famous Baies candle. But did you know it also comes in a room spray? Or as an insert in their new air fragrances which emits scent like a Glade plug in? Similarly, the Philosykos scent is available in Parfum (perfume), Eau de Toilette (EDT), or Parfum solide (solid perfume oval). It is an unique blend of fig and greenery, verdant and fresh. I loved the Doson as well which had tuberose and jasmine. It was heady and feminine. Skincare line included a body butter, facial oil, a satin hair oil and hand lotion. You get lots of little free goodies with your purchase and when I went, they had a promotion with a free reusable tote with a small Travel candles and samples of the Philosykos and Eau de Lavande ETD. A delightful place for a little gift for yourself or a friend. Aromatherapy at its finest! :)

Ive been in love with Dyptyque for 18 years. I once walked for one hour in Paris to the shop because I didn’t realize just how far away it was. But now, I can just do to South Coast Plaza. You probably know them for their candles but I love them for their solid room fragrance ovals and for their skincare. Yes! They have a small line of amazing skincare. Everything smells lovely and I’m super impressed at how well they work.
The fragrance ovals make perfect gifts. It’s my secret! Now you know.
They do the prettiest gift wrapping, too.
If you buy enough they will give you small sample gifts, too.
