I was very disappointed with the food. The fried rice was terrible. The atmosphere was uninviting. Restaurant was old and dingy. Overall the food was boring and the staff was so not friendly.

If you’re going to charge for basic steamed rice, tell us ahead of time. Not doing do so is a scum bag move and will cost you your tip. Orange peel chicken has an odd spice note that I didn’t care for, turned the dish savory and overpowered the other flavor components. Not good. Beef chu mein had loads of beef and the shredded carrot added a nice touch of sweetness. I enjoyed it. Service I already commented on, but the couple who greet customers are great fun, very friendly. I assume they are the owners. So food is hit and miss and service needs working on. It’s a very old fashioned place full of older folks and families out to dinner with grandparents. It’s surely for another generation, but not bad.

Best Chinese food I’ve had. Servers were exceptionally friendly, atmosphere was great — this place is definitely a great choice! I believe they also have a take-out option as well if you are in a hurry, but it is nice to sit down and enjoy a hot cup of tea and look at the fish tank.

For Chinese food there is not a better place in Costa Mesa. Food is to notch, egg rolls being a distinct highlight. I got the orange chicken, house rice, and been Chu mein, was thoroughly impressed but all. Service was prompt, drinks were kept full, even got a good fortune. Excellent experience.

This place is tucked away off harbor and not easy to find. Old school décor and the food is fair to good. Decent local spot for sit down Chinese. A little expensive for takeout, but overall solid spot.

Love this place for Chinese food. They have the best hot and sour soup around! I also love the fried rice, sizzling rice soup, giant egg rolls and mushroom chicken. The service is fast for pick up as well!

My boyfriend and I ordered from here on door dash and the food was pretty gross. We couldn’t even eat it. We ordered chicken lo mein and a chicken dish with rice. I wish I could say something we ate was good but honestly, it all tasted bad. We ate a few bites and had to throw it away :(don’t order from here.

My go to for Authentic Chinese food. Been coming here for a couple years now and it never disappoints. We used to greeted by the ”grandma” with her holding our hands and giving us hugs, but I haven’t seen her in awhile. Great food! We usually order the ORANGECHICKEN with white rice, HONEYWALNUTSHRIMP, to die for! The walnuts could be cut into smaller pieces though. The staff is friendly and very attentive, plenty of seating, and there’s a private dining area for parties, meetings etc. Parking is never an issue.

In my opinion, the best Chinese in the OC. Fantastic service, consistently flavorful, great atmosphere, I could eat here every week and never tire. The spicy mince beef wontons are just the perfect balance of crunch and tenderness. The flavor is spiced perfection and the sweet and sour sauce complements to flavor bomb your mouth. The hot tea is also brewed to perfection, not tart, just right! Our favorites include Peking Duck(24hr advanced notice to order) Orange Chicken(best I have ever had), Almond Chicken, and Walnut Shrimp. We love this place!

Picked up some take out here. I liked my honey walnut shrimp and the szechuan chicken. The shrimp was kind of sweet and sour tasting but really yummy! Got it because it was recommended on Unilocal! Also tried the the chicken and it wasn’t that spicy-I could’ve added more spice on it myself, and usually I can’t even do super spicy! Prices are kind of high for chinese food… especially when its around $ 11/dish and I can get it for $ 6 each at other spots. All dishes don’t come with rice either. What I really enjoyed about this place was the nice Asian man at the counter-really nice and helpful!

The service was excellent. We walked in and was immediately greeted and seated by the host. Our waiter quickly came over to take our order. We tried the hot and sour soup and the walnut shrimp. We devoured the soup and had to take some of the shrimp portion home because we were so full. They were really attentive and came by several times to check on us and all of the other tables. The waiters does make an effort to make their customers feel at home. I admire the service and the food was not disappointing either. It makes it easy to say we will be coming back soon.

I ordered through DoorDash so this review is on the food. I ordered three things, chicken fried rice, spicy chicken wings, and egg rolls. Where do I start and where do I end. First the fried rice was not fried rice. It’s just white rice, dry chicken, an egg. Chicken Wings smelled good and seemed to have a lot of flavor, but guess what they were just overly battered and fried, took me two bites before I even got to the chicken. I had two or three bites of both and immediately realized this place SUCKS and didn’t even touch the egg rolls. Instead of throwing it all away, I gave my food to some unfortunate homeless person. I don’t even think they will end up eating it. Chinese food is better at Panda Express and much cheaper! Waste of $ 40.

AMAZINGORANGECHICKEN. MYGOD. Their receipe is to die for. The freshness and scent of the light, mouthwatering orange flavored sauce entirely compliments the chicken, thus leaving you craving every bite! I had literally finished the whole bowl of orange chicken along with the hot and sour soup. O. M. G. The soup. This is how REAL hot and sour soup SHOULD taste like. It had to have the right blend of hot and, wait for it, sour! Golden Dragon has perfected every entrée. Their chef deserves five stars. I wish I lived in the area because merely writing this review made me crave their food. I docked one star because their service did not match the food served. They were rather rude and disinterested in their clientele. They did not care to ask us what else we wanted; the servers just rushed for no apparent reason because it was not busy. Regardless, the chef is what makes the restaurant and I will deal with average customer service as long as I can get my hands on the truly marvelous — Orange Chicken.

SO I admittedly am not a huge fan of Chinese food… too many thick sauces for me and I’m not a huge fan of sweet/sour stuff. However, on occasion I’ve gone out with groups to places that someone else picks and Golden Dragon is really close to my old work so we always ended up here for birthday lunches, etc. I kinda forgot about it til I recently had a holiday lunch here with a group of about 10 and it reminded me what a great place it is for large groups and how well they manage large groups. They really do a good job at making it work w friendly AND efficient service. They also have great lunch specials too — with a lot of food for a great price. And as far as the food goes, it pretty darn good considering my lack of enthusiasm for Chinese food in general. The last time I went I had the sizzling rice soup for the first time and it was actually really delicious and I’d definitely order it again.

If you’re not careful, you can drive right by this place… their building entrance doesn’t face the street but there is a smallish sign on Harbor Blvd. Maybe they should be called Hidden Dragon. Anyway… the place hasn’t changed much since I first came here about 8 years ago. It feels a little worn but still comfortable. A client and I got here 10 minutes before they opened for lunch. The waiter approached us and said«…Come in and sit at a booth, here are the menus, and Ill be with you in 10. Sure enough, he was there, with pen in hand, glasses of water, and hot tea. The lunch specials are a couple of dollars more than most Chinese places I’ve been for lunch. But you get pretty big portions. I had the sweet and sour chicken, and my client had the orange chicken. The cabbage, chicken, pork soup was pretty good, but it was lukewarm. I prefer getting my soup HOT, mainly to ensure bacteria is killed until it gets to my belly. Within 10 minutes, the entrees arrived, hot and plate heavy. My sweet and sour chicken($ 10) was good, but the deep fried pieces of heavily breaded dark and light chicken pieces were greasy. There were small bits of canned pineapple, and onions. The sweet and sour sauce was very sweet. The fried rice was fairly plain with just bits of scrambled egg. The won tons were pretty greasy as well, but how cool they gave you these as well with your lunch. I did not try my client’s orange chicken($ 10), but as healthy as I though he ate, he loved his greasy orange chicken. He also did not eat the pieces of veggies, but finished the entire plate. So, I would have to say overall, the food was 3.5. At the start of the meal, we forgot to ask for chopsticks. So I walked up to the waiter and said, «We forgot to ask for chop sticks…» and he said, «Please sit, I’ll get them immediately» which he did… and then said, «Professional service, right?» Haha, yes, you did well and have a sense of humor. Add that to letting us sit early, and prompt dropping off and picking up check paid by credit card, and a happy client, this was a 4 star lunch overall. I do agree with my Unilocal friend Wendy B. that the food was better many years ago. Also, there used to be crowds back then. Today, there was scarcely 10 people at Noon when we left. But greasiness aside, it was a good time.

We had a gathering tonight with a few friends and offered to bring dinner. Chinese is always a hit, so we decided on this place because the reviews were good. Everyone in our party was pleased with our choices and praised how good the food was. We chose the crispy rice vegetable soup, egg foo young, moo Shu vegetable, shrimp chu mein, and vegetable fried rice. We will be back here again the next time we are in the mood for Chinese.
