My family and I were in town for a track meet. After a long day, all the kids want to do is eat. I try to stick with local fare as I don’t particularly care for chains. This place was awesome! It was reasonable and the portions were more than generous. The spiked peach tea is very refreshing as well! Downtown Covington is very nice and I would love to see more of it another time.

We where sat at our table fast and food came out hot and didn’t take long. Shrimp was bland and also the fries where not. Crawfish heaven the Fried crawfish you get enough for two people to share but the crawfish étouffée was bland. The server could not tell us the menu when asked questions just would say idk it’s in the menu. We would not come back

The raw oysters were nice and fresh! The charbroiled oysters were a disappointment, they had some cheese, but were pretty dry. Butter and garlic are essential to this dish, I don’t know what happened!

Buster’s is getting two stars from me. I’m sitting in another restaurant writing this review after just walking out of busters because of a rude server. I love busters. I grew up coming here and really enjoy it. Recently every time I’ve gone during lunch hours there’s just the rudest server ever. She’s an older woman and just plain miserable. I get it, life isn’t always peaches, bad days happen blahblah but I mean this woman must be having a bad everything. She’s blatantly rude and unwelcoming every single time. I will go back to busters but not during lunch. And if I’m forced to sit in her section I’ll leave. Just like I did today. 2 stars because I like the food and enjoy the atmosphere and location. Could’ve been 5 if there was a decent waitstaff. She makes the other guys look bad.

Busters is always consistent with their flavors. Their dishes have an amazing homemade taste, which is becoming hard to find!

Was there a month ago and it is always crowded but we were seated quickly. RAw and chargrilled oysters were good. Abita Amber beer and a frosted glass paired well. A bowl of their seafood gumbo treated me nice as well. This is my go-to oyster bar based restaurant.

I don’t know if their food is any good or not, but will never tolerate the abrupt rudeness of the owner of this establishment. He was sarcastic and demeaning. Walked right out never to return.

Delicious red beans and rice with sausage. But the green salad was like something from the high school cafeteria.

I loved this place. I was skeptical because of the mediocre reviews but was surprised. Great atmosphere and vibe. I had the raw oysters(super fresh) and jambalaya with locally made sausage. It was fantastic. I definitely will be back.

Crossed Lake Pontchartrain bridge out of NOLA, heading back to Texas(the long way) in search of a nice hidden gem. Found this place in Convington, LA and thought we we would give it a try. Plenty on the menu without being overwhelming. Prices were very reasonable for fresh seafood! Staff promptly greeted us and arranged for our beverages. My date and I started with a dozen fresh gulf oysters(and received a lagniappe), all sweet and perfect! We then split the soft-shelled crab plate which came with a small salad and fries. We added some red beans & rice and a cup of seafood gumbo. The tender fried crabs were especially delicious! This all turned out to be more than plenty for us … we were«stuffed»! Sorry we had no room to order the Triple Chocolate Fudge Cake or Pecan Bourbon Pie which we just enjoyed with our eyes. Service, Atmosphere, and Food — All four star!

My fiancé and I went to Buster’s on a whim. He’s lived in this area for a while and I’ve lived here a year. Our plan was to dine somewhere we never had before. After looking over the menu, we decided on seafood gumbo, onion rings(with Wasabi dipping sauce) a grilled chicken salad, and a soft shell crab poboy. YUM! The seafood gumbo was delicious with a great roux and the Wasabi dipping sauce with the onion rings was fantastic! The salad was pretty good and my fiancé said his poboy was really great(except the bread… apparently, it wasn’t what he calls poboy bread.) In all, a great experience. Thank you to our server, Melissa, for help with the menu and great service!

Great steaks and steak specials on Saturday are the reason I come here. Old and stale french fries and sides being served regularly are the reason I almost don’t return.

Really awful. Just awful. It is loud and unclean. If you get a look at the kitchen, that’ll really make you toss your lunch. Plus, with what i said about the cleanliness, the bathroom is awful. Short sweet and simple, don’t eat here.

I usually go for the oysters which are outstanding. Otherwise, we have been very pleased. Very traditional Louisiana fare done in a way that compliments the Covington dining scene well. The owner is a great guy too 4.5 stars

The ambiance is cool for a fried food and beer location. They make some attempt at class but how upscale can you be with plastic beer signs screwed to the wall? Sports rule here and they have decent, not great, TV viewing. The food is typical Southern fried food. They have a good selection of bottled beer but where are the 10 different local draft beers that many of us have come to expect? The service varies. The last time we were there we had great service. Tonight the waitress was far more interested in talking to her co-worker while eating her own dinner than waiting on us. After serving our food she never checked in again until I waved her down in order to get water. I might stop back but I am not rushing.

I was surprised with a date night here over the weekend, and I enjoyed my dinner immensely. I tried the jalapeño appetizer; jalapeño poppers with a Southern twist. My steak was cooked to order and a reasonable price. The salad was good, and the potato that came with my meal was huge and covered most of the plate after I unwrapped it from its tinfoil. The beer selection was good, and the server was attentive. It’s in a good location in Old Covington, and we sat by the window and people watched. Even though it was a Friday night, we were seated quickly and had a good experience. The worst part of the dinner, and maybe the funniest, was that the women’s restroom was taken up by a mother with at least one screaming child. I’m not sure if the child was trying to open the door or if the mother was trying to leave and kept getting pulled back with more and more of her child(ren)‘s mishaps, but for a good ten minutes I watched the door being opened again and again and her voice trying to reason with the spawn until I finally gave up and used the men’s room. The sink in there was gross, but due to my inexperience in using men’s restrooms, that could be par for the course. So yeah, if you’re looking for child-free fine dining, this isn’t your place, but I had a good steak and a good hard cider and ate half my weight in potato for around 25 of my date’s hard-earned dollars.

Cute place. Corn fritters!!! So simple. So good! I could eat those all day, every day! Crawfish Étouffée was…(sigh)…so yummy. Jambalaya was some of the best I’ve had. Every time I ate a bite of anything, it became my favorite on the table… until I ate the next thing. Then THAT became my favorite. Really good! Not so great gumbo. Just ok. See… I can be fair. Haahaaa. Excited to come back for ½ price oysters Thursdays!

The seafood gumbo at Buster’s is really worth the drive alone. It’s perfectly seasoned and slam packed with seafood. Slam packed, I tell you. I get so upset when I order a cup of gumbo in a restaurant and there are like 2 tiny shrimp in there. Come on, people! This is Louisiana… seafood capital of the world. If I wanted to eat roux with rice I could made that crap at home. I like the ambiance in here a lot too. It’s dimly lit and although sort of divey it’s still romantic. I had, in addition to the gumbo, a shrimp poboy that was really good and of course, a Bloody Mary. The Bloody Mary could have been better and could have had more veggies in it(there was one spicy green bean, two olives and a lemon) but it was good enough. Service was great and I’ll definitely come again. I’m already dreaming about that seafood gumbo.

I went here on Thursday for the ½ price oysters and had ½ dozen of the raw. They were large and served ice-old, everything you’d want your raw oysters to be. I had corn fritters on the side(hush puppies) and they were an alright side. The service was good(the waitress was attentive with refilling the iced tea and pleasant). My mother and I went here some time back and got the chargrilled. They were overcooked a little. I don’t know if that is common but I’ll try them again and see. The raw were fab. It is going to be cool next Thursday, I think I’ll have a cup of bisque with my oysters then!(Can you tell I love oysters?)
