Nice spot. Ate there on Sunday and liked it a lot. The BEST shrimp and grits – we wanted to take the bowl and lick it clean. Really good shrimp po’boy. We asked for sweet potato fries, but got regular(good, though). When we told the waitress(not to complain, but to not get charged for the substitution), she not only corrected the bill but also brought us the sweet potato fries to go! Friends enjoyed the Bloody Mary’s – they said they were really good. Our waitress was super nice and fun – like being around a joyful friend.

The food is good. The service was decent. The hostess looked like she just rolled out of bed. She had in a white workout tank top with low sides and black yoga pants. I did not enjoy seeing her bra under her clothes. Not just a strap but her entire bra. I can’t believe the manager let her work half dressed. Owner/manager Please do your self a favor and get company tshirts or polos and add some class to your staff.

This will be a very simple review — There is a lot of beer. Seriously, LOTS of beer. The burgers are good. The food prices are not bad. During oyster and crawfish season, everything is really good. The staff is friendly. the girls are really pretty. The place gets crowded and loud at night. It’s a good place to socialize at the bar, or dine with family and friends. The outside is really nice with the deck and access to the river. Overall, really cool place for the casual diner and/or drinker.

First timers here after hanging out at insta gators most of the day. Beer selection is spot one with a good variety of local selections. My goto was the Andy Gator from Abita. The atmosphere was friendly and very kid friendly. The food amazing. The«red beans and rice didn’t miss her» as that’s what the wife ordered. I went for the grilled dozen oysters and they were perfection. My wife killed about 6 of them so I helped with here red beans. Even the kids meals chicken strips, cheeseburger and fries were delicious. If your counting calories or worried about that beach body then just get a water. Overall great experience.

The Chimes is a nice place. It’s big and has a big bar with a lot of different beers. The food has been OK for me, the service is another story. A friend and I met up here to drink some beer. We had been there about an hour and a half I guess when we suddenly started feeling pressured to leave as they were getting busier. We hadn’t received good service all along. The bartenders were unfriendly to us and we had to wait for refills. Anyway, we decided to go. My friend didn’t leave a tip due to the service we received and for them trying to push us out. She wrote a big 0 on the tip line of the receipt. The next day my friend calls me up and says you’ll never guess what happened. She had checked her bank account and noticed she had been charged $ 5 more than what her bill was. The bartender had added an extra $ 5 for her tip since my friend had not left one. Maybe she thought we were drunk and would not notice. Unbelievable. So she calls and talks to the manager and was offered a $ 25 gift card to make up for this. Nothing happened to the bartender. I wish I could remember her name. I think she went by a nickname that wasn’t actually her name. Anyway, you might want to pay attention to your bill and what you are actually charged if you sit at the bar.

One star for the drinks. Terrible, pitiful, absolutely sad service, and although the food has been«partially» better than past experiences. This is a sad experience unless you’re here to hang at the bar and drink… This visit was around 3 o’clock in the day!

The view was amazing but the food and service didn’t match. My wife asked our server for suggestions between 2 different dishes and she just said«I don’t know.» We then ordered Mac and cheese for our daughter and she at least told us it had some spice to it, but we then ordered the red beans and she said there was no spice. They were definitely way too spicy for our 6 year old. My wife got some oysters that were actually very good but my salmon was just mediocre. It wasn’t a great experience but I would at least give this place a 2nd chance.

I went here for the oysters as on Tuesdays they are half price, $ 6 a dozen. I know the rule of dont eat oysters unless the month has an «R» in it, but did it anyway. It was June. Anyway, the oysters were okay but what really concerned me was that the oysters were room temperature and not chilled. And now we wait…

HUGE beer selection and good food. Really enjoyed the spinach dip… had never had it served with fried bow tie pasta for dipping. The outside area is very pleasant. The deck system leading to the river is very nice. We noticed goats and cats down by the river. The service for us that night was a little lacking, but would return.

For travelers from California this was a great choice recommended by an LSU alum. Awesome beer selection that ranged from microbrew around the country, but including locals. The local food was delicious. The red beans and rice with sausage had a great flavor and spiciness. The shrimp po-boy was good. The large portion of Ceasars salad was enough for the biggest appetite. Biggest drawback is the wait…45 minutes for a table of 5 at 7pm. Venue is loud with good music and conversation.

The food was fantastic and the staff was incredibly friendly. My mom ordered their specialty the BBQ shrimp and grits and it was by far the best thing we ate during our entire trip. I tried the catfish platter which was amazing as well but I had buyers regrets after trying her food. Hannah was our waitress and was delightful. She offered to let us try a couple beers before ordering plus the sauce for the shrimp. She made recommendations which did not disappoint and even sent us off with to-go cups for our tea. Highly recommended going to The Chimes.

This was an amazing place for oysters. I hated oysters until I ate the chargrilled. They were great and a huge beer selection wow top notch. Friendly service.

Amazing last meal in Louisiana before hitting the road. The Boudin Balls and«All The Way» fries were delicious. However, the plate of fries is huge so don’t order unless you have lots of help. Even the Hush Puppies were better than most I’ve had. The deck is gorgeous with a quiet stream flowing past and roosters and goats to boot. Our server, Jamie, was wonderful. Not only was she helpful, but funny as well. Will be back next time I’m down.

I was recently visiting Louisiana from California for work and was pleasantly surprised to find Chimes among a sea of Subway, Burger King and Waffle House. Being a vegan in Louisiana was hard. I finally gave up and called myself a(faux) vegetarian for this two week trip. We ate at Chimes twice. Both times, same meal: Boca burger(not vegan), fries, friend pickles and a nibble of a gator bite. While I wish there was another option besides a Boca burger, I could eat the fried pickles all day, every day. Where am I going to find these in San Francisco?!

I enjoyed having dinner at Chimes, The environment was great and they had a huge selection of beers on tap. I decided to order the seafood lasagna and it was a definite hit! The lasagna had interesting layers of flavor. It had ricotta cheese in between a hefty serving of a seafood mixture of crawfish, shrimp and crab meat in between pasta sheets topped with a chowder like sauce.

This place is gorgeous! The atmosphere/ambience is 5 stars. The outside is really neat and overall it’s a great place to go when the weather is pretty. My family and I came here for lunch after I graduated from Southeastern a few years back, and I thought it was a great place to celebrate. I was looking forward to coming back and I finally did last night. The service started off a bit rough, but it did get much better. I found that the appetizers took a really long time to come out. The food was hit or miss for me. Some items were great and some not so much. The couple I was with ordered onion rings and spinach dip for appetizers. I thought the onion rings were good and the spinach dip was delicious! My boyfriend and I split a cup of sausage and duck gumbo which I thought was good but nothing to write home about. The bun it came with, however, was really good and we askes for another one which came out really fast. For our entrée we split the charbroiled catfish topped with a crab Royale sauce. The sauce made the meal pretty expensive, but from the description I couldn’t wait to try it. We picked mac and cheese as our side. When the fish came out I was super excited because it was a huge portion and there was a lot of crabmeat. However, the fish and crab really lacked flavor. The sauce was very thin and the fish really needed a thicker sauce to give it some flavor. I thought the mac was really good and rich though! I would def come back, I would just order a different entrée next time.

I’ve been to the Chimes restaurant many times now on visits to Covington and I have to say that their char grilled oysters are the best I have had in the area. That plus the ENORMOUS selection of craft beers is my #1 reason why I keep returning. Their menu has a wide variety of seafood and regional food choices and I have never had a bad meal. Service has always been friendly and attentive, even on busy evenings. On nice days you can sit outside and enjoy the large deck area. Be aware that lots of folks bring their kids to sit at the outside deck(which by the way you can walk down to the river and maybe spot a gator or turtles). It can be annoying if the parents allow the kids run rampant around while others are trying to enjoy the outdoor atmosphere. If you are into sampling a variety of craft brews, then this is a great place. Take a seat at the bar and strike up a conversation with the servers. They always have been able to suggest something to fit my taste!

I can’t believe I haven’t written about The Chimes yet… If it isn’t a pretty day where you can sit on the porch, I wouldn’t go here. The food is hit or miss(appetizers = good, beer = good, burger = good, salad = ew, oysters = ew). I did go here with a friend after we finished out shift and we got a beer flight, which was inexpensive and fun. Unfortunately at 4 pm on a Friday they were already out of one of the beers.

I had a pretty good meal and here and the view can’t be beat. I started off with some raw oysters and crawfish tamales. The crawfish were large and fresh. They could have had a little less masa but the salsa verde alongside was yum. For my main course I had the special, which was fried catfish served over shrimp etouffe. The shrimp were small but the flavor of the dish was solid. The fried catfish was… fried catfish.(The batter could have been lighter but it was good). I loved my server, Carolina. She was friendly and pushed the specials while also seeming genuine. As I dined, I watched the property’s goats trim the grass and cats lounge alongside the banks of the Bogue Falaya. The restaurant has a large outdoor seating area which extends via a series of decks and stairs to the riverbank. It was March but kind of hot and I already wanted to jump in. I don’t know how people resist in the summer. You’ll also see kayakers and paddle boarders floating along occasionally. They can park and go eat on their way to the Tchefuncte confluence ten miles downstream.

Service is so fast, it’s almost intimidating. We walked in BOOM we were seated, then BOOM our waitress was circling the table like a shark circles its prey. It was that pressure moment, order, order, order!!! Actually she was or is a sweet heart and knows he job. So it was beer, boudin balls, and Po’ boy’s. Boom, the food came. The Roast Beef Po boy was better then Mother’s in NOLA, much better. A messy sandwich, but deliciously messy. Although we didn’t sit outside, the outside area is very nice, I’ll have to come out to La to try it. Service, I think you already know! The food, wow very good, very very good!
