Fred Meyer

I always receive very good customer service at this store. The employees are friendly and helpful. I occasionally have trouble finding someone when I have a question and have to pick-​up the customer service phone, but someone always helps me right away. I especially want to complement «Alex» in the paint dept. He spent a lot of time helping me the other day opening a stuck paint can. It wasn’t even paid I bought in this store. No charge. Thanks!

This used to be my go-​to Fred Meyer when I lived in Maple Valley.
The store is always very well stocked, and prices are reasonable. If you can’t find coupons on the displays at the front or back of the store, check by customer service.
Produce always seems to very fresh and well taken care of. The aisles are never really too crowded, so not much of a challenge to get around. Always great deals on clearance clothing and home goods here. Usually a huge selection of seasonal products as well.
There is a Chase Bank in store, as well as a coffee shop.
The store is also typically very clean and well staffed.
I had to return a jacket and the girls at customer service were too busy chatting about the customer that was being helped before me to even really speak to me. Boy, they don’t hold anything back though. Hope they don’t get in trouble for the return they made without a receipt for a full refund because the cashier who rang it up did it this way that she shouldn’t have and blah blah blah. It was a conversation that was not meant for guests to hear, and could’ve waited the minute it took to help me. So loud too, basically yelling at each other. Good thing there was nothing wrong with what I was returning — not that they seemed to care.

I shop here every now and then and love that I can find the ingredients that I need. It is hard living on the West Coast where there is very few Puerto Ricans and trying to find certain ingredients. I like the fact that I can find the ingredients I need and at a decent price. I like the cheese selections and seafood selections that they have. Stores usually clean when I’m there and always crowded.
I am incredibly glad that they have self check out because it gets really packed in there. I think they are a little expensive for some of stuff they have, but they do have a little better quality than most places.
I love the array of vegetables that they have. I love how they have many choices for different things; cheeses, alcohol, seafood, and meat. Four stars because they are way too expensive.

Fred’s is like the HEB (Howard E Butts grocery chain in TX) but on steroids. We were sent on a critical resupply mission on Wed evening. The parking lot looks jammed! Oh boy this will be fun/​not. Surprise all clear, We quickly hit up the baking and candy aisles and most importantly the beer and wine. Total cost $ 85.
Liquor to food ratio 70%-30%. C’mon turkey/​football day…

There are a couple of nice ladies in the store that are friendly and willing to work with you if you need help. I have gone to another Freddy’s nearby and another one in Kent, but this one is much more decent and friendlier than the other two.
However, the reason why I gave this store 3 stars is often times, they are out of stuff on products that are on sale. I would come back twice in the same week to see if the product would be back in stock with no luck.
AND…today, I was in the produce area when I heard somebody yelling, «Sir, where do you think you’re going?» I saw a young man with a basket full of alcohol running out the store. Another customer tried to chase after the young man, but the clerk told him to let him go.
Two things troubles me. 1.) I asked the cashier about the incident. I don’t know if she was joking or not, but she made the comment «Oh wow, I wish I can join him and drink some alcohol.» When I gave her a blank stare, she later on told me that employees are trained not to do anything since these «criminals» may carry weapons and also there is supposedly a homeless camp outside of Fred Meyer. 2.) There seems to be lack of security in the store. There were a group of employees huddling near the Chase bank and they all had a confused look on their faces. No one seemed to be contacting local authorities or asking any customers for any description.
I’ll probably not let this one incident deter me from shopping here again. However, it will make me more cognizant in my surroundings within the store and outside.

Staff is always friendly and nice. They seem to go out of their way if you are looking for something. I love to shop at at Fm, you can get everything in one stop. They also have the freshest veggies! Love freddies!

Absolutely the worse Fred Meyer I’ve dealt with on every level.
One of our reasons for loving FM through the years has been their Nutrition Center, availability of Organic produce and their customer service. Covington FM consistently disappoints in all the above. But more than anything the customer service is literally the worst! You could find better at the dollar store where you expect nothing. The produce is often in poor shape and covered with fruit flies. Nutrition Center doesn’t carry items that even smaller towns FM have at all times. There has been several times that when using the self check out the person who is supposed to be attending is nowhere to be found as I stand with «attendant has been notified» going off on my register. And I am looking everywhere and finally they slowly walk my way unapologetically and as if I had just interrupted their vacation.
Over and over again I ask myself «why do you keep bothering?» Just drive the extra 4 minutes to Four Corners, you will save so much anxiety and give business to folks who actually appreciate their job and the customers.

Bummer this Fred Meyer doesn’t carry boars head deli meat. Store prices were comparable. The help was friendly. Prices on gluten free items were higher than other stores in the area.

They no longer sell my favorite yogurt — Tillamook Dessert Yogurt! Went to FM specifically stock up. They have other Tillamook yogurts, but not the dessert yogurt! Even my dog loves it! Needless to say, we will be buying it from your competitor as they carry it!

I come here weekly but it wasn’t until today that I really appreciate this store! My xbox wont play a blue-​ray and I wanted to check to see if it was the disc or the xbox so I brought it in and asked Miles to see if it would play. He did it no problem, no additude, and was happy to help even gave me some tips about the xbox. Its been awhile since someone was happy to help without the promise od buying something!

DO NOT SIGN UP FOR A GIFT REGISTRY WITH THEM! I repeat, horrible experience. We signed up on the machine, then it wouldn’t print, getting customer service to help even though they are right next to it, didn’t go over well either. NONE of the employees have a clue when it comes to those machines, they need to be trained on them or switch out for a different company that works better. A clerk finally showed up to help named Andrew, whom was on the on the phone the whole time, very rude and never got anything resolved, finally we gave up and said we’d try a different Fred Meyer. Things weren’t much different at the Maple Valley Black Diamond store, didn’t work there either, but at least we got better help over at that store!

I’m not increasing my stars, but a slight update. One positive, and one negative. This Freddy’s used to suffer terribly with lack of cashiers. After about six months of this issue, they have finally fixed that problem and now you don’t have to wait in line forever most of the time.
However, one negative issue remains that has been the case ever since they have opened. They do not stock enough in any department, but especially the grocery department. They are always out of stuff when it is on sale so you have to get rain checks. I live in Auburn now, but my Mom still shops there and she runs into this issue all the time. Sometimes I’m in Covington for Costco and rather than going to the Auburn Freddy’s I would go to the Covington one. Not anymore because I ran into the same issue. It’s really frustrating when you don’t buy that many groceries but every week they are out of something. The Kent, Renton, Auburn, Fairwood, basically any other location does not suffer from this issue. Again this issue has existed ever since the store opened many, many years ago. I do not typically give this negative of reviews but I find this particular issue of frequently being out of stock of groceries to be unacceptable, and management really needs to do something about it. It’s a bad business practice. Most of the cashiers and employees are friendly though. So that’s a bonus. Although last week when the LOTTO machine was having issues (which is frequent), my Mom asked an employee for help and the employee snottily yelled, «I DON’T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THAT ASK CUSTOMER SERVICE.» Yeah, like she’s gonna wait through the long line there to do that. I understand if the employee did not know the answer but you don’t talk to a customer like that. That’s unacceptable.

Why are people in customer service when they DONT have customer service! The employees there are always busy gossiping, texting or unfriendly. I went through the self check out not to long ago & the attendant was on her cell phone talking about a guy she was seeing. She proceeded to say how he left early in the morning and needed to get a ride so he could buy drugs. WTF?! She never looked up or even noticed me. I come here because it’s the closest but geez I can’t stand the employees. Where are the managers? I wish Covington had a super walmart!

An okay Fred Meyer. I guess it’s slightly better than the Kent one on James street. Plenty of parking as there’s a costco right next door.

It’s the second-​closest FM to my house and I frequent it most if I take Hwy 18 to/​from school. Or if I am picking something up from Costco or takeout in Covington.
Okay, okay, I go here quite a bit.
It’s not a remodeled location, but it’s clean enough, bright enough, and well-​stocked so that I always find what I need. Or don’t need but want. There’s self-​checkout, Redbox, and a Tully’s.
There’s gas outside, it’s right across from Costco and hundreds of other stores nearby. Well-​done, Covington. Well-​done.

I am so thankful they offer some although limited organic foods. I just moved here from Kirkland, WA and it so nice to be able to buy some non GMO and organic foods

I love that this store has self check-​out. I wish the attendants were attentive. It’s hard to give your coupons to the attendant when they are gossiping with their co-​workers 5 aisles away.
I also wish they would stock the products at some time other than prime shopping hours (like maybe between 11 pm and 7 am when they are closed!). It’s so frustrating to have to maneuver around stock carts parked in the middle of the aisles!
Other than that, the selection at this store is not as good as other Fred Meyer locations, but the prices are reasonable in comparison to other local grocery stores. I can usually find 90% of what I’m looking for or a reasonable alternative.

I absolutely love this store!
Only issue is the parking lot thefts. Don’t ever leave ANYTHING in your vehicle or it will likely be stolen and nothing will be done about it.

Much nicer than the Kent one. Parking can sometimes be tough to find. The quality of food here is really good. Some associates can get on my nerves here sometimes. The older people who work here are awesome and friendly. They always ask you hows your day and they know you by your name. Check out is easy and fast! When I purchase just a couple items I go to the self check out which is cool and fast.

Was initially going to give it 2 starts due to it being a meh Fred Meyer that just looks old and is understaffed. However, found little one a pair of pink hightop Converse for $ 5! Score (would have bought them in my size but they didn’t have any…). She also got the Skeechers she had to have for $ 35 (not good or bad price…). She was so proud of herself for using her allowance and insisted we come back here to get the shoes. However, she actually likes the pink Converse better (the bonus shoes)…
