Outback Steakhouse

This place is amazing! Always so glorious. Steaks cooked to perfection, great service, and a whimsical atmosphere. We had the pleasure to talk to the proprietor and he was just the biggest ray of sunshine! If you are in the Covington area, this is by far the best restaurant in the area. I’ll leave you with this, what do you get if you squeeze a lemon, lime, or orange?

My husband asked me where I wanted to eat for my birthday. Since we haven’t eaten here in over a year (due to a couple of bad experiences), I said «It’s been awhile, let’s give Outback a try. Maybe it’s gotten better.» Big mistake! It started off bad and that pretty much framed and ruined the whole dinner. They asked how many in party. I said 2 and we’d like a booth. This was at 4pm so it wasn’t busy by any means. We were told they had no booths available as there were only 2 servers. We could have a table or have a seat in the bar. I do not go out to eat at a restaurant to eat in a bar! We had to sit at bar booth right by the hostess stand. Before we even had our order taken, I looked around and they were seating people in the booths that we were told were not available! I ordered a Victorian Filet with baked potato. The baked potato only had like a teaspoon of butter on it. Thus the potato was dry. I asked our waiter for some more butter. 15 – 20 minutes later still no butter. I had eaten half the steak by itself. I went to the other end of bar by the kitchen and asked again. He did bring it then but my potato was cold and not appetizing. I asked for a to-​go box and brought it home to heat up. My husband ordered the prime rib and it was mostly fat. Our waiter was very nice, I’ll give them that. The bad experience when we walked in the door pretty much set the tone for the visit. Happy Birthday to me. Not! There are too many other restaurants where we can get a good steak and not be treated like we were today. I don’t know whether it was because we are older or maybe because we were wearing jeans (at least we weren’t wearing t-​shirts)? New dress code? We used to (loyally)eat here every weekend until we had a bad experiences 3 weekends in a row. Today was a chance to regain our regular business. Why treat us like that?

I am extremely displeased every time I go here. The only reason I ever go back is when I’m with someone who wants to go. The service is always the worst part. We ALWAYS get sat by the kitchen even when we ask if we can go somewhere else. While trying to enjoy our meal, we get to listen to the servers complain about their tables, and other various conversations as if there are no customers around. Three times now I have watched our server sit and socialize while rolling silverware, while we waited on refills or checks.
I learned very quickly that you have to order your steak more well done than you regularly would. For example, I like a med rare steak, but here I have to order medium to medium well unless I want my steak mooing on my plate.
I never feel truly greeted at the door, there are always one or more servers socializing with the hostess. The bathrooms are always horrendous. I try to give a restaurant three tries before I decide I really don’t like it because everyone has bad days. But after going numerous times, in my opinion, every day is a bad day at this outback.

If you like rude service, frozen food, and smelly restaurant, then this is your place. Been here several times and drink order took twice to get it right, steak wasn’t cooked right and appetizer was cold. Notified servers and didn’t seem to care manager didn’t even come to table. To many other good restaurants on the northshore 2^nd time was the last time for me.

Terrible service. It took 3 attempts for them to give us unsweetened tea. The appetizer was cold. Ordered two steaks neither were cooked as ordered. One medium and the other medium rare. Plus took 10 minutes to get steak sauce. Refills of drinks did not happen. At this point we just wanted to leave. We will never return. Service as a whole was very slow. They were not busy. Don’t waste your money.

The new volcano shrimp are delicious. The service is good and the food is consistent. Great value for the money.

I got takeout here twice while working in Covington. For some reason, when you tip them online — they do not want to give you a receipt with the tip included. I found this bizarre because, well, I tipped you!
Luckily they email you your receipt.

If you want the best servers sit at a table around the bar or to your left when you walk in. Newer wait staff are given sections on the left rear the restrooms.

Don’t know why there are so many terrible reviews. We are here for the second time this week and the service is great and the food is great compared to other chain restaurants in the area! I love the bloomin’ onion, Taz crawfish, the lunch menu is fantastic! The portions are large and the prices are fair. The salads are exceptional! No rotten lettuce! Good job Covington Outback! We will definitely make this one of our regular go-​to places!

Ordered curbside tonight which had a very long wait. upon arrival, the parking lot was completely full and had to park at Rouses. The girl who answered the phone was professional and knowledgeable and when we arrived to learn our order wasn’t quite ready she brought us two extremely large drinks at no charge. We watched her answer the phones which were ringing off the hook, Run from the kitchen back into the little room outside and back in multiple times and she never lost her composure. She was sincere and apologetic about the wait which was not her fault… it was clearly extremely busy! She let us know about a few sites where we could get coupons for future visits. Can’t remember her name but she had a very long braid.
I have never received such wonderful customer service placing a Togo order like this! She should be training people in proper etiquette and handling situations like tonight. I will definitely be back!

We love the outback! We eat there often. The food is always fresh and the service is always great! Go have dinner and enjoy!

We had a quick lunch with good service, just wish they would have removed the plates we were finished with while we were still eating. Chicken quesadilla was delicious very surprised on how yummy it was! Will order it again!

Won’t go back ever! $ 16 for a small piece of Mahi Mahi and little bitty sweet potato and left hungry. Kids menu is only 10 and under so $ 12.99 for chicken tenders is a little ridiculous.

This placed used to be good. I quit going after a friend went with me and got sick while in the restaurant. Had the manager call us a liar over the situation. The owner was there and also insinuated we were liars. I used to go there 2 or 3 times a week. This happened over a year ago and I have never went back since. Nor have any friends or family members I told this too.

This place is garbage. I just picked up take out and while eating my side salad which was missing the dressing I asked for I discovered a FINGER NAIL. This disgusting kitchen staff is lucky I was not in their POS resturant when this discovery was made

I was a little nervous coming here after seeing the reviews of the terrible service. Yet, after reading those reviews, I still decided to come. Most of the time I am traveling for work, I am eating by myself, and I don’t stray from what I know. It’s more fun when someone is with you.
Needless to say, my server was great! Service was prompt, and the food comparable to other Outback’s in the chain.

Decided to go here one Friday night to unwind, have a nice dinner and a drink after a long work week. My boyfriend and I were seated, and our server took out drink order. Our drinks didn’t arrive for 20min.
Then, the server returned and asked if we wanted any bread (I thought they always automatically bring the bread with drinks?) we said yes. Waited another 10min for the bread. Then the server came back to take our meal order… but we wanted an appetizer before our meal. We went ahead and ordered the appetizer with the meal. About 30min passed. No appetizer, just our main meals came out. WHERE WERE THE COCONUT SHRIMP?! I ordered the ribs and garlic potatoes, which was just «ok”-I’ve had better at another local «Roadhouse» type restaurant.
After waiting what seemed like forever to get our drinks, then our food order was screwed up, a couple with four kids and a screaming baby were seated at the next table… it was just what we needed to ensure a completely unpleasant evening.
Ps: no apology from our server for forgetting our appetizer. We weren’t charged for it, thank goodness. Needless to say, we won’t be back. Too many other better dinner options out there!

This trip was a much better dining experience. Great waiter, Abita Draft in working order and meal very tasty.

I got the hearts of gold mahi It was ridiculously salty so I was not a fan. I had a bite of my mate’s ribeye and steak… was not a fan.
I ordered a cheesecake and asked for caramel and chocolate sauce. The server was nice enough to just give me a slice of each (unless he just cut the normal sized piece in half without me knowing). Anyway, as nice as the gesture may have been, it tasted like warm flavorless cream cheese.
We sat down at a table that was dirty. My mate asked the employee to clean it. He took a towel and brushed all the crumbs in her lap. It was hilarious but not right.

Went with my boyfriend and his 2 daughters. TERRIBLE service. We knew the place would be packed (LSU had won the Outback Bowl the day before and free blooming onions were available at Outback restaurants.) Therefore, we arrived at the restaurant at 4 pm (to avoid the dinner rush) and sat at a table in the bar area. The was a 15 minute wait for the regular dining room area and the bar area had an almost completely empty bar and several empty tables.
Dirty table, no server, no silverware. My boyfriend had to beg for a server, ask for silverware, ask for our drink order to be brought to the table. In all, we had 4 people help us and I’m still not sure who our server was. Maybe the incompetent woman who showed up late, talked as though she was high, and took 20 minutes to allow us to pay our bill? A ridiculous and experience. If I have my way, I’ll never go back.
