Sofi’s Color Lounge

Visited Sofis close to two months ago for a trim and blow out, and I’m amazed at how fast my hair seems to have grown since then. Maria has magic hands I tell you! My blowout by Maria was also just perfect. I’m definitely making this my go-​to in the future, despite it being a bit out of the way since I live in Hudson County.

Love my hair cut with Stephaine!!! She listened to a mom who desperately needed a good hair cut. I have a lot of hair and she managed to thin it out with style. I am very happy with my new do and cannot wait to see her again.

Whole staff is always friendly, professional and upbeat. Speaking from a guys perspective, Christine is the best-​gives a great haircut. Would recommend this place to anyone

Worst hair dye experience i have had, it was a 6 hour for a simple cut and color and definitely over priced for what you get. Never again.

Jessie ROCKS! She’s highlighted and cut my hair twice and I cannot say enough great things about her and the salon. The owner is very friendly and always offers drinks or anything to make you comfortable. Very satisfied.

Seriously, is this place open?
I’ve called a couple times and left a message, nobody called back. I left a message on their website, the website timed out without sending. I emailed them, the email bounced back undeliverable.
They’re making it impossible for me to give them my service.

This place was really dirty, all of the brushes at my (experienced) hairdressers table were caked and I mean CAKED with hair and I felt so gross having her use those hair covered brushes on me. That said, she did give me a nice cut. but I felt gross the whole time.
The woman who washed and brushed my hair pulled so hard on my wet hair when she brushed my tangled locks, I wanted to cry. It is damaging to your hair when someone does that! Worse, she took that clump of hair that was in the unsterile comb she used on me, and threw it in the middle of the floor. I had to watch my sad hair clump sit in the middle of the floor during the entire haircut. She also didn’t crack a smile the entire time I was there and seemed really grumpy and offputting.
The area under my chair wasn’t swept between clients, so I had to tiptoe into and out of my hair because the floor beneath me was covered in someone elses hair.
Since the hairdresser did a nice job with my cut, I would give it 2 stars, but due to the lack of sterilization and the fact she used super dirty brushes on my hair, I want to give them a zero. «Any used instruments (brushes, combs, scissors, razors) have to be sterilized between clients. If scissors are not properly sterilized and come into contact with bacteria, germs can grow and live on your scalp. »

What could be better than getting a blowout while drinking a glass of wine? (The manager will also and always ask you if you would like or need ANYTHING– and he will even run across the street for you to grab you a snack). I mean, talk about service. I live across the street but I don’t come here for the convenience. The staff is friendly, accommodating, and the environment is fun. I highly recommend Maria for a great blow out. You’ll leave with great hair and an even better mood. Thanks guys!

I tried Sofi’s because a friend of mine loves the place and her color always looks great. Maybe I went on an off day. I’ve been getting blonde highlights ALL my life. I’m naturally dirty blonde so I’m told it’s actually pretty easy and standard highlighting my hair with blonder highlights. I went to Sofi herself I believe because I figured she was the owner and the best. When we were done it looked like i had hardly any highlights! It was like a joke! I spent all this money for nothing and ended up going somewhere else to get my highlights redone. So disappointing. It looked like barely anything was done. I could have asked for more afterwards and complained but i had been there for so long at this point between waiting and the actual process that I was so drained i just wanted to get out of there and couldn’t even think of staying longer to get more highlights. In addition to that I waited forever for my appointment (i think they overbooked or something) and while I was getting it done and waiting for highlights to process children were running around everywhere and loud. I think they were related to owner. sorry but when I’m paying all this money and at a hair salon I want to relax and feel pampered. Instead this made me so uncomfortable. I work in NYC as beauty publicist and have worked with everyone from Nick Arrojo to Oribe to Edward Tricomi. I like getting my hair done in Jersey because I live there and it’s cheaper and usually just as good of quality work. So yes my standards are probably high but i know hair so my review is legit. Again maybe it was an off day because again my friend’s hair always looks great. But I will definitely not be going back LOL.

I got my hair highlighted by Jessie. Love it. She’s really nice too. It’s easy to get too and parking is cheap.

I can’t say enough praise about Jessie, she is very personable and has true talent when it comes to hair. I had gone to another salon where I got a terrible dye job. I called into Sofi’s on a day where they were normally closed and Jessie happened to pick up. I explained what happened and she made an appointment with me before I left for vacation, knowing that it would keep her there later because I didn’t get off of work until 5. She did a phenomenal job at fixing my hair color. She was so nice and made me feel comfortable right from the start. It’s very obvious within minutes of seeing her at work that she knows exactly what she is doing and does it well. It was a long process that brought her past closing time, but not once did she ever make me feel like it was an inconvenience to her. I can’t recomend her enough.

I have been here twice and I am never going back. The first time I went I got basically a small trim and a bang cut. My stylist didn’t talk to me at all and made me feel a bit unwelcome. The haircut looked decent so I didn’t mind that until the charged me $ 65 for it. The next time I went i only went out of convenience because my they were gonna give me an appointment that day and I was getting ready to go on vacation. I went in thinking I would just get the trim and ask for it to not be styled in order to keep the price down. Regardless of me having an appointment they made me wait a while but I didn’t mind because a man who I believe is the owner brought me coffee and was very nice. After getting my hair washed, I sat in the chair and without speaking to me or asking me what I wanted the stylist began blow drying my hair. I felt really uncomfortable to say anything so I let her do it and figured she was just going to cut it dry. When she finished blow drying she showed me it in the mirror like it was done so I uncomfortably said «aren’t you going to cut it?» Then she yelled up at the front desk saying «you didn’t tell me she wanted a haircut!». If she had consulted with me she would have known exactly what I wanted. So at this point she cuts it dry and it comes out okay. Once again they charge me $ 65. This place is just unwelcoming and overpriced.

Amazing, you leave looking exactly how you want to, and excellent service but the only thing is the price

Very dirty and uncomfortable. The hair color went in my eyes while they were coloring. I had contacts. It burnt like hell. Sloppy job too.

This place is wonderful. I was so nervous about finding a new hairdresser when we moved (I literally didn’t cute my hair for 7 months while we were living in India because I just wasn’t sure who I should go to). So when we finally got back to the states I did a ton of research. Some places had decent reviews but the photos of their cuts made me think that they would be better off doing my grandma’s hair than mine (I’m only 28 I have to stay trend while I can — before it starts to embarrass my kids and stuff). So I went ahead and picked Sofi’s and I couldn’t have been happier with the out come. I have the worst memory for names — so I could be wrong but I think my hairdressers name was Nicole — basically if you go in there and see a gorgeous younger girl with long brown hair, thats her! She probably gave me one of the best hair cuts of my life. Literally she new my hair type with out me saying a word — which might sound easy but I have very fine hair, but a lot of it so a lot of hairdressers will just say «oh you have really thick hair» which isn’t so — I have zero volume. So when she was looking at my hair and commented about the cut needing to add volume for my fine hair I wanted to kiss her. I loved everything about this place — I even posted a pic of my finished look (I’m the blonde girl). I’ll be back — and if you are looking for a new stylist — come to Sofi’s

Some Background:
I have naturally straight, very thick, coarse hair. Over the past 18 months, I’ve had my hair cut from 26 inches to shoulder-​length, permed, cut again for correction, dyed for correction, and cut again. My perm job left my hair looking like shredded wheat minus the curls (avoid Hair & Nail Excellence in Bogota, NJ), so I went to a different salon to correct the damage. The second salon «corrected» my hair by giving me a pixie side-​swept Kpop star cut that would’ve looked great in a hair competition magazine, but did not translate well to real life. Now, my hair has grown out to a length that can be trimmed.
Now:
I put this off for a few months because I am cheap when it comes to my own hair. I’ll spend hundreds of dollars on skincare but my hair will look like I just crawled out of a dumpster. I usually make fun of people for «overpaying» at posh salons when they can just go to Supercuts or find some Groupon. CLEARLY, this hasn’t worked out for me.
This past Wednesday, I finally caved in and got my hair cut by Jessie. I trusted her because:
1.) My boyfriend trusts only her with his hair.
2.) She listens and isn’t one of those stylists who have some bullshit vision of what they want your hair to look like.
Worth every penny. My hair looks and feels healthy and I no longer look feral. Go see Jessie. Whether you know exactly what you want and show up armed with 50 pictures, or you’ve never even stepped foot in a salon — she’ll do some magic.

I was new to the area a year and a half ago and received a welcome wagon coupon for a free haircut at Sofi’s. Veronica or (V as she is called) was assigned as my stylist and I can honestly say she gave me the greatest haircut I could have ever asked for.
She listened to what I wanted played off my requests. I was in total love when I left the salon. I had long hair and it was shapely and sexy, more than I expected!
Cut to a year and a half later when I decided it was time for a big chop. I made an appointment with V of course. I came in and showed her a few pics of what I wanted and told her to basically do what she wished. She made an initial chop of about 12 inches and then went to work. As she razored and shaped my hair, she shared with me some tips about how to blow out my fringed bangs without a brush and tease my roots so it was perfectly voluminous. Again, I left thrilled. A week or so later I decided I wanted a few more layers cut in my hair. V effortlessly created a beach-​y tousled look that I adore.
I could go on about V, but the store and other employees are great as well. The receptionists are happy, friendly and helpful. In a hair rut? Go to Sofi’s!

I was able to get an appointment super fast. The staff was super nice people and seemed knowledgable of what they were doing. However time managment was not the best. At times I was left sitting on my own simply waiting, while my stylist was fixing her own hair, while the timer was going off. I was happy with the results at first, but it only took one hair wash to end up with super bright red hair (which i had to fix). Also I ended up with color stains all over my neck, face etc. Not cool. The staff like I said was super attentive. I was always offered something to drink, coffee, even the gentleman from the front desk offered to get me some lunch, but not coming back here again, I am sure there are better places out there than this.
