Alexander’s Uniforms

I stopped in a couple weeks ago to try on a semi-​cute pair of Dansko’s in the window. There were 3 women working, no one else in the store, and one asked if she could help me. I asked for my size, she brought it out, and gave it to me to try it on. She left and came back a few minutes later.
She wondered how I liked the shoes. I mentioned that I had fallen arches, and these shoes did nothing for support. She said «well, that’s a fashion shoe. You need the clogs.» She then took the shoes away and left to the back of the store.
I sort of expected her to follow up and bring out another pair, but she never came back. The other ladies chatted away, without regard to my presence, and I eventually just left.
I may have bought a pair of shoes that day, but their lack of customer service really offended me. I don’t think I’ll go back.

I used to purchase my shoes at the very small Alexanders location that sold work uniforms as well, but this location serves solely as just a shoe/​clog store! Which in my opinion is MARVELOUS because it allows them to have a much larger selection with a a larger variety of clogs/​shoes: Dansko, Sanita (my favorites), as well as KLOGS, and nurse mates… there may be other brands but those are the ones I can remember.
This location also allows for a large area to sit so you’re not cramped for room, also ample room to try them on and take a walk around the store in them! The prices are going to be competitive as there isn’t much give or take when it comes to prices for these types of shoes. However, the week I went (Thanksgiving) you could bring a canned good and receive 15% off which I appreciate and I also get to help give back to the community (kudos!)
The staff here is very helpful and friendly. They are knowledgeable about the shoes they sell which I can appreciate because the first time I tried on a pair of Dansko’s at a Nordstrom store I had no idea how they fit, and couldn’t figure out why the same shoe in the same size fit differently. Alexander’s staff will be able to tell you if what you are wearing fits appropriately. Anyone who has ever worn a comfy pair of Dansko’s will know what I’m talking about!
Also, I heard that they have clog parties in the evening with chocolates, wine, etc. and in the morning they offer parties with pastry type goodies. You get to have a private in-​store party with your friends and I assume you must receive some sort of discount! Great way for coworkers to get together, have some fun, shop, and mabye save some $$!
