The sweet potato noodle soup was the best soup I have ever had. Amanda was welcoming and so sweet. Only down side was musty smell when we walked in… which disappeared as soon as I got my first whiff of the soup aroma! Can’t wait for Thursday!

If I lived closer to Cha Bei I would probably be there every day they’re open. The tea/noodle restaurant is a quaint, quiet little treasure tucked away near the JWU part of Cranston. My husband and I came in on a chilly Saturday night when there were only two other people in the shop. However, due to the small size of the restaurant and the cheerfulness of the owner it did not feel lonely inside but intimate instead. The food at Cha Bei is very good and cheap to boot. We ate the wheat noodle bowls and added just a little bit of the hot chili sauce on the condiments table and they were out of this world good. The smaller size of noodle bowl is perfect for a meal. The other guests who ordered the larger size had some left in their bowl when they left but ours were practically licked clean. For tea, I had rose oolong and my husband had the caffeine free apple pie– both were delicious. Our total bill was under twenty and the whole experience felt better than if we had eaten at a 5-star, expensive restaurant in Providence. It is absolutely worth seeking out Cha Bei if you’re even driving by Cranston– just make sure you check their hours first as they close«early» by industry standards.

MMMM, MMMM, MMMM. Delish, some of the best ramen I’ve had. With some very good teas. Women who own the place is lovely and delightful. We had a very nice conversation. I was done with my tea after one pot, and instead of throwing it away, the owner packed it up for me to take home and use again. Shop is only open Thursdays– Sunday’s and that’s a shame. I’ll be back soon, with my kids! i know they will love it. Make sure you come and give it a whirl. She deserves all the business she can get.

Came in here for the first time with no expectations. Due to weathering the cold makes the door hard to open but that’s the only thing wrong and it is can be totally overlooked. The ambience was very relaxing which made the experience all the better. They have a large variety of teas and it is wonderful and fragrant. They have a small foods menu and the food they serve is good and not expensive. I am coming back here whenever I need to relax and take a second to clear my mind and learn more about teas. The owner is very nice and treats her customers great, new comers, regulars, and all!

We had a fantastic meal here tonight. Manda is a gracious and lovely owner of this gem of a place. We had two noodle bowls that were fantastic and a pot of tea that got more lovely by the sip. The gorgeous blown glass tea cups were brought back by Manda and her family from China and they were a joy to sip from. I honestly can’t say enough about this place. Currently it’s open Thursday thru Saturday so plan accordingly. My husband got a large ramen bowl which he loved as much as the ramen bowl at North. I am a vegetarian and I had the small spicy noodle bowl with the sweet potato starch noodles, no meat, and extra spice. Mine was warm and filling and a perfect way to end our night. I think you’ll find the tea list exceptional, and try the pots of rare boutique teas that are 5 $-8 $ per pot depending on size. We loved chatting with the other patron and Manda who told us great stories about finding her teas in China and bringing them here to her tea and noodle shop. Go here; it’s a hidden gem in Edgewood!

Cha Bei has the vibe of a friendly little hipster joint, which is cool with me. It’s a tiny shop, mainly run(from what I have seen, at least) as a one-woman show, and dishing out the goods. The food menu, which is strictly ramen, is about as small as the shop. She has 4 types of ramen listed, 3 if it isn’t summer, when you have the option for cold soba noodles. They are all equally delicious, filling, oh, and cheap. The tea selection is grand and mega quality– which is my absolute favorite part about this place. You can also get smoothies, my favorite being the mango-oolong smoothie. It is seriously one of my favorite things on this earth — it’s a creamy, smooth, icy tea! You’ll also find pretty little tea sets and Chinese tea-snacks available for purchase. I wish there were more places like this one in existence. Cha Bei, you’ve got soul.

I’ve loved watching this place flourish over the years. My boyfriend lives right around the corner and we’ve been going to this place since they first opened and have always had very solid experiences. We buy the bulk tea often, as they have a large variety of teas and it’s fun to get just a few grams of a new flavor to try. My favorite menu item is the coconut smoothie, which is subtly sweet and luscious. Support this local business and give them a try next time you’re in edgewood. Tea and then next door for a panini at the cheese shop!

Don’t miss this hidden gem next time you’re in the area. Cha Bei offers many unique and varied teas as well as three or four(depending on the season) delicious noodle dishes for those who chance upon this quaint establishment. All items are made when ordered, which takes a little longer than usual, but are assuredly worth the wait. The only thing keeping me from giving this place a solid 5 is the restrictive hours. Cha Bei is only opened three days a week.

I came here by myself. The place is very small. I love Ramen. I prefer Ebisu to Ken’s. I had no idea what to order so I got the Spicy and Sour Sweet Potato Ramen. I should have gotten something else. I just didn’t like it. I was expecting something sweet, instead I got something sour. It just wasn’t right for me. The food was cooked properly so that is why I am giving it 4 stars. It wasn’t there fault I got something I was unsure of. I wklwill definitely go back to try the other types of Ramen. I also ordered a green tea smoothie. It was very good. The prices were reasonable also. I also drove by the place. Look for the sign for the pizza place and the Cheese shop.

What a quaint cute place! We stopped in here a few minutes ago for a smoothie and I was swayed by the amazing smell of sesame oil and ordered the cold soba noodles. My boyfriend ordered the Lychee Peach smoothie which was delicious and dairy free! I ordered the Mango Oolong. Both refreshing and not overly sweet and dairy free. The noodles were full of flavor and made me wish I had ordered a bigger bowl! They were topped with sesame oil, kimchi, egg, tomato, and cucumber. I will most definitely be back here! The owner was so sweet and pleasant! Don’t miss out on this place !

I came here with my parents and we tried 3 different kinds of smoothies. Out of the banana chocolate, vanilla berry and mango oolong my favorite was the vanilla berry. All of our smoothies(and I’m assuming the other drinks as well) were tea flavored, which I thought was really unique(in a good way!) Food was pretty good. My mom and I got the soba noodles and my dad got rice noodles with miso broth. I tried both and really enjoyed both but my dad said his noodles tastes undercooked. I guess it depends on your preference because i like my noodles on the rawer side. Overall pretty great little place. I’m not sure how crowded the place gets as it is a one woman show. The lady who works there is really nice(:

I’ve previously had the smoothies and teas which are amazing. Today I stopped by and had the potato noodles with the spicy sour broth, it was amazing! Now I have to go back and try the rest. Yummy

Yum yum yum! Cha Bei is an adorable little tea and noodle shop that is not to be missed or dismissed! Dozens of teas to choose from with lots of hard to find varieties for this area. Loose leaf teas, tea smoothies and usually a few daily iced tea flavors to choose from as well. They have a tiny noodle menu with just a handful of dishes to choose from but I promise you will find something you’ll love. My favorite is the Spicy & Sour Sweet Potato Noodle Bowl. The Dashi bowl is also tasty and the poached egg is the perfect addition. There is a selection of tea sets for sale and other gift items like travel tea mugs, candies and cookies. Since it’s a small shop, it might not be suitable for larger groups but it is the ideal spot to bring a book, have a pot of tea and some noodles if you’re flying solo.

I am in absolute love with Cha Bei. This small, cool, laid-back atmosphere is perfect for reading and getting some work done. They serve up some exquisite teas and delicious noodle soup. I can’t get enough of it. My only regret is not coming here sooner. There are a good number of bar stools, a few dining tables and two sofa chairs for whatever suits your fancy. Everything is piping hot and made to order. The noodle bowls are perfectly sized to fill you up and are reasonably priced, making frequent stops here a totally doable thing. The only caveat is that the room is small and echoes quite a bit, so you might feel a little awkward chatting or inadvertently end up eavesdropping while your getting work done. Despite that, I find the steeping of the fragrant teas and relaxing environment make it all too easy to stay here for hours. With a large variety of choice teas available, I just might have to visit some more just to try every single one! You will see me again Cha-Bei!

Although Cha Bei is only open 3 days a week(at least right now), and only has 4 items on it’s food menu(and one is seasonal for warmer weather), I absolutely love it! The owner makes all the food and the tea, so if it’s busy or in our case if you’re ordering several items at once, it can take a little while to get your food, but I have to say it’s definitely worth it! I tried the sweet potato noodles with the spicy-sour broth. I was really impressed! I loved the texture of the noodles, and the broth is delicious! I got a regular size(not large) and it was plenty filling and very reasonably priced. The tea selection is outstanding. We tried one of the specialty teas, which costs a bit more, but realize that you can have your tea re-steeped for free! We had our tea leaves steeped 3 times(with good quality tea you can really get away with that). I love the little tea cups with the double layer of glass – prevents your fingers from scorching from any hot tea in the cups. Really cool design. They’re for sale too! All in all, Cha Bei is definitely worth a visit! I plan to come back soon :)

I only wish the AC gets turned on during humid days. That said, all is great over there. The noodle selection, the teas, the service, the price, the lovely, welcoming interior, the cute sign out front. If you are searching for noodles prepared and tasting as closely to how they would in Asian spots, short of traveling, you should visit this place. Little gem. I wish I could just keep it to myself and the small, friendly, frequent-guest community Cha-bei has, but I can’t. I shouldn’t. It’s not fair. Too good. Here’s proof: Since discovering this spot about 4 weeks ago, I’ve been to this place at least 6 times now. Some days, consecutively. Insane. I’ve told all who care to listen, to check it out. I bring all who care to come with me, to this spot. How’s that for a great review?! Oh, apart from AC, I wish they would bring back their breakfast congee — I saw it in a blog entry dated October 2012. Then they will see me at breakfast, too. :) Quite pleased, Cha-bei, quite pleased.

A great selection of delicious teas and authentic Chinese noodle dishes. It is almost impossible to find good quality oolong teas in Rhode Island and even Boston. Try the Ti Kuan Yin here you will be very pleased. Any questions and the owners are more than happy to help.
