I found this restaurant through Unilocal, and I have to say that Mesa Café and Grill is a fantastic place for breakfast and/or brunch! Parking is only street parking, which is pretty easy. Just make sure to read the signs. The restaurant is a clean, family restaurant — chill atmosphere but homey. Fairly spacious inside with plenty of seating. We were seated quickly with our waitress arriving shortly to get our drink orders. FOOD: Great menu — lots of choices to choose from aside from the specials. Belgian Waffle with Blueberries(4⁄5): Slightly crispy, this was made just how I like my waffles! It isn’t like the IHOP kind of waffles, which seem fluffy in my opinion. Blueberries were fresh. Lightly sprinkled syrup over the top, this dish was basic but good. I’m a fan. SOS(Shit on a Shingle, 3⁄5): I had no idea this was a military staple, for I never heard of the term shit on a shingle. Basically, it’s chipped beef compressed together in a sauce, served over toast. I thought it was kind of bland so asked for some of the red sauce that was with the Huevos Rancheros, which somewhat tasted better than before. Our waitress informed us that many war veterans are thrilled to try this at Mesa. Huevos Rancheros(5⁄5): This was so yummy! I only had two bites with tortilla, and I regretted not ordering this for my own. The red sauce served over the eggs had a slight kick, which was surprising because most spices are adjusted to the American version of spicy. The fried plantain actually was decent, and I’m not a fan of plantain! Solid food. Solid servers, hostesses, and service. Drinks were refilled quickly. Professional and accommodating, I highly recommend this spot. Mesa Café and Grill has specials that alternate throughout the season. I didn’t get to try any, but I’m sure I would be just as a fan! If I was residing in the area, this place would definitely be one of my go-to’s for breakfast and/or brunch.

Hands down my favorite breakfast place. I try going weekly. They treat us like family there. The servers and hostesses are amazing. Even the owner is friendly and makes every attempt to make the rounds. One of my favorite dishes is the Huevos con Tamales. Can’t say enough good things about this place!

A nice little spot on Rolph Square in Cranston. Breakfast is very good here and the head chef has rotating specials everyday. The portions are large and the price is cheap. It’s a nice spot for breakfast or lunch.

Foods always been good. Probably hit this place up every two months. I share with you because I know what waitress NOT to get. She had been there a while she is not a young and she is not the sweet senior that works there. You’ll know who I am talking about when you get the attitude. She never fails to cop it no matter the day! I laugh when I see others reactions but I am sure to tell them it’s not you! Today I sarcastically apologized for asking for milk for my coffee because when I did ask you would have thought she messed her pants by the look I received. DON’T let her hold you back from a good breakfast!

One of my favorite places to go for breakfast. Located in the Rolfe st square shipping area of Cranston is great. Always busy but moves quickly. The staff is wonderful there and the cooks are great! Large portions. Never feel rushed. Their Greek goddess breakfast is great ! Pancakes are huge ! Love it here!

We found this place by accident while house hunting in the area. So god we did this will now be our go to Sunday brunch spot. To start the décor is beautiful and so clean, the staff are extremely friendly and know the menu. Now onto the best part… The food. I ordered the special omelet the azteca that came w toast and homefries. Everything was delicious n not a drop left on my plate. My husband got the hungry boy well because he is a big boy and it was perfect. So not only is the food delicious but it tastes cleaner then normal diner restaurant food no oily residue just all freshness even the homefries have a cleaner more natural taste better then anywhere here in RI. So the menu is extensive so u can choose to try something completely different or the usual breakfast. It was so good we put in a to go order for tonight. We will be back very soon!

Delicious brunch and friendly service. I got the Banana Bread French Toast and it was pretty phenomenal. Someone walked around with popcorn chicken samples and the chicken was nice and juicy and fresh. There were quite a few things that I wanted to try on the menu so I’ll have to find myself back there. Lunch looks like it would be really good too!

Just moved to the neighborhood and have been wanting to try this place. We went at around 9:30 am on a Sunday and were seated immediately. The staff were all friendly, prompt, and very helpful and informative. We enjoyed the atmosphere as well. I got the Huevos Rancheros which were tasty and the homemade tortillas on the side were heavenly. The fried plantain was a perfect addition and should be served with every meal as far as I’m concerned. My husband got the steak and eggs, the steak was flavorful and he enjoyed his meal but will try something different next time. We will be back soon to this cozy spot!

I’ve had 2 bad experiences here in a row. The food is not bad, but the service is. Super slow waitresses. More than one table at a time seems to be too much. Runner brings food out but the server never comes back to check, refill drinks etc…

I woke up this morning with a desire for breakfast. I didn’t want to to drive anywhere and decided my daughter and I would try somewhere within walking distance. A friend of mine had recommended this place and based on the additional reviews I have read, I knew I had to try it. Upon walking in, just before 10am, the front part of the restaurant is already packed, which is a good sign. The wait staff approached us and was very friendly. We were seated in the second room. The restaurant looks very small from the outside but is roomy enough on the inside. Our waitress was extremely nice and knowledgable as I asked her a few questions about the menu items. I ordered the Greek Goddess omelet which came with spinach, diced tomatoes, olives, feta cheese and crumbled bacon bits on top as well as a side of toast and home fries. My daughter ordered the Rolph St. Platter which came with 2 eggs, home-fries, a choice of meat(she chose Bacon) and pancakes. I added in a side of hash just to give it a try. Upon trying our food, my home-fries were a little cold whereas my omelet was piping hot. If I were a picky person about food temperature, I would have sent my home-fries back, but I’m not, at least with breakfast. The omelet was very good. I loved the added little crunch that the bacon bites gave and the flavors of the spinach and feta cheese were on point. The hash was also very good. My daughter enjoyed her eggs and home-fries but was not a fan of the bacon. It was very overcooked and rather dry tasting. The pancakes were light And fluffy with a yummy buttery taste to them. Both of our main dishes were under $ 11.00, but when you add in coffee, chocolate milk and a side of hash… The bill was a total of $ 34.00. Overall, I have to say that I was not impressed. I walked in with high hopes, but it was just mediocre. I will at least give it another try before crossing this off my list of go to breakfast joints. Maybe today was just an off day.

I’ve been back here regularly since my initial review, which is a pretty good indication that it will still get lots of stars from me! Over the past year, the restaurant has expanded, creating a second dining area that also serves a function place. The interior is updates, but still maintains a funky, colorful vibe. The staff has increased, but the new members are old faces now, and well-trained! Always friendly, accommodating, and generally quick to refill, although coffee is a bit of a hassle on a busy day. The food is great, the specials are imaginative, and it’s not uncommon to see the owner slinging eggs and waiting tables. My only small quibble is the pricing, which(for sides and coffee) doesn’t match the menu. $ 1.35 for a 1oz side of green salsa seems steep, and, at nearly $ 3.00, coffee should be refilled more regularly. Neither of these things are major issues… I love little, local Mesa Café, and will definitely be back.

Cute little place for breakfast. The food is always consistently good so we order from here about once a month or so. We’ve never waited more than 5 minutes for a table which is impressive for a breakfast spot. The staff seems nice, sometimes they are a little blah(maybe they need a coffee?) but hey, if the food is good and the servers get the orders right and the restaurant is clean, I’ll keep returning.

Solid breakfast and lunch. Food is good but nothing special. The interior is warm and inviting with cushy booths and tables near the window. Staff has always been professional and accommodating.

This is a great place to go! Home made food made better! They have great coffee and it’s always fresh I saw them rebrew pots over and over so you always have a fresh cup! The home fries are perfect and I love home fries and this place does it right with clarified butter and not left to sit but made to order so they are not soggy in the middle. My omelette was excellent and it was made right not like places I have gone where it’s eggs tossed in that’s a scrambler not an omelette! This place is fast fresh and the service is great to everyone is moving and you don’t have to wait for anything. In a city like Providence finding restaurants is easy finding places to go back to is hard because all the choices. This is the place we will be going back to!

This restaurant has greatly improved since my last not so pleasant visit. The service was fantastic, the food was perfectly cooked and I feel it’s only fair that I give them a better review since there has been such drastic positive changes. I came in around 730am and was kindly greeted. I ordered an egg white omelet with spinach, tomato, onion and cheese with a side of fruit instead of home fries and wheat toast. My coffee cup got refilled 3 times too. The waitress was very attentive which I really feel makes for a good restaurant experience. I would definitely order it again in a heartbeat. I’m happy that this place has improved so much since I go to breakfast before my workout every morning and this location is on my way to the track. They will be getting a lot more business from me from this day forward. :)

My mom has been raving about this place for weeks ever since her job had a party here. We went today for breakfast and I was very happy with the experience. The hostess/waitress was super friendly and cheery. I order the #1(eggs, home fries, toast and bacon). Loved it and it was only $ 3.99! The owner came around to the tables to say good morning to everyone and was very nice. I will definitely be returning, I hear the mexican food is delicious as well.
