Broken oven — looking back, it seems like the oven has been broken since 1⁄26. We called the owner to see if it could be fixed because I wasn’t going to cook for a large group of people in a microwave oven, but he said it should’ve been fixed the day before. The microwave oven was missing the carousel. So, I was going to try bake a cake, brownies, and other food in the BBQ instead, but the BBQ didn’t work well as it wouldn’t get hot. Luckily, we found a Foreman grill in one of the cupboards and I’m thinking of writing to the man himself telling him how he saved our weekend getaway! But we had no cake and no brownies. And the fridge water/ice dispenser didn’t work — I don’t think it was hooked up to a waterline. And the toaster didn’t pop up on it’s timer so watch out for burnt toast. In addition, the gas range is awful. Only one range head had a powerful enough flame to efficiently cook. One head had such a weak flame that it wouldn’t even boil water! The couches are very dusty and we had several people who developed allergy problems because of it. The owner told us that there were matches for the fireplace, but we couldn’t find any. Although I didn’t talk to him directly, it didn’t seem like he really cared if his guests had a great time or a meh — which this was. I’m rating this as a one-star even though the company of friends gets«Woohoo! As good as it gets!» because of the multitude of frustrations and disappointments. Also, I didn’t see any smoke detectors in the kitchen area — maybe it’s hidden — maybe it’s not even there. While it may have been inexpensive per person to rent the cabin, I think you might be able to find a better place for just a bit more.

This is a 4-bedroom cabin situated by Lake Gregory and walking distance to a 7⁄11 store and a grocery store. It has a beautiful view of the lake and a very updated, well kept cabin. The master’s bedroom has a jacuzzi and a fireplace. The living room has a fireplace as well. I’m giving 3 stars instead of 5 because of some inconveniences. First, it took me two emails, a fax message, and a phone before I actually got to speak to a person to make a reservation. Second, your credit card will be charged a reservation fee, and subsequently, the entire stay from a business name that you will not recognize. You will momentarily freak out because the owners will not communicate with you about this strange business name. Third, you have to drive a long ways to pick up and drop off the key to the cabin. The closest key pick-up/drop-off location is in Lake Arrowhead which is about 20 miles away from the cabin’s location. So if you don’t know your way around the mountains, tough! Another is that if you do not leave the cabin spic-and-span clean, the owners will keep the $ 85 cleaning and garbage fee PLUS the $ 265 security deposit. The owners are ultra sensitive to their cleaning crews complaints such as too much trash, place smelling like beer, and smoke on the walls without their inspection. In other words, this place is good for those senior citizens who sit on the deck and look at the lake to party. Not friendly to children because, obviously, they could spill colored liquids on the carpet. Not friendly to anyone who drinks beer and throws it in the trash because, obviously, the cleaning crew will complain you had too much partying. Just remember, the goal is to keep the $ 265 security deposit. Finally, the owners prefer not to communicate with you after they have decided to keep the deposit. So as a tenant, they will not explain how the cost breakdown of why they wanted to keep the deposit. Worse yet, they will not respond to your side of the story even if you happen to have photo evidence that you did not trash the place. In summary, this cabin is beautiful but the poor service and treatment of the owners make it an awful experience!
