We are returning again over Labor Day Weekend 2016 for Singles and Single Parent Families with a 4-​Day singles retreat! Whoop whoop and using Whittier Worship Center and the Cedars cabins for the first time ever. Super excited! We would like to invite ALL singles out there to get registered for Sept 2 – 5, 2016

So I read Nick Arnette’s review and we have hosted singles retreats at Thousand Pines since 2012 three more times. I am so thankful to say the experience of sound was greatly improved and so was the staff with Christopher Day added to be the Director of Guest Relations and having the Director of AV/​Tech start us out on Fridays now, Ben Johnson. We have had awesome tech guys running our sound and helping us. These guys are great and have made a huge improvement in guest relations for our singles retreats here annually.
By the way, Cindy Darling is your person to talk to when you’re thinking about booking your retreat group here. She is absolutely professional and the very best making your retreat the best experience ever and putting it together with you.

Thousand Pines was a phenomenal place for a retreat! I cannot say enough about how wonderful the staff is. They are so helpful, approachable, and they really went above and beyond to make sure our stay was incredible. Reasonable prices and beautiful views. Go there and take people with you!

Went up for a men’s weekend retreat in May of 2015. The staff was friendly and accommodating, checking in with us frequently to see how things were going. We had a great time, with a lot of fun activities. The paintball and ropes course were enjoyed by everyone as well as the malt shoppe. The food was above average and I ate way too much of it. Very reasonable prices make this a great place for a retreat.

We came here for the Women’s retreat and this place is wonderful! You are in the beautiful mountains with pine trees all around. There is a creek going through the area. They have a coffee shop and malt shop and hammocks around for relaxing. The food is really good. They provided a wonderful singer and speaker for the retreat. They had so many activities to do like archery, paintball, rock climbing/​zip line, hiking. The cabins are a bit rustic but nice. The grounds are kept clean and manicured.
The only thing I would add to this place would be to expand or have a better gift shop/​book store.
This was our first time here but it will not be the last! Thank you for a wonderful retreat and opportunity to learn more about God!

I couldn’t have asked for anything else. Everything I’d expect was provided. Food was good and plentiful. Several activities were add-​on fees but our group negotiated most of them into the contract so that we didn’t individually have to pay extra for anything except paintball. The setting is beautiful and remote while still convenient. I would gladly return.

Been here twice for our men’s group weekends. The location is very beautiful with indeed at least 1000 pines in the immediate area.
The primary areas and facilities look to be well maintained, and there are a variety of cabins and meeting spaces throughout the property to accommodate just about any group’s needs.
The Whittier lodge in particular is of newer construction, is the primary meeting facility, and has a stunning view from the attached deck. It is well equipped with a sound system, video monitors, and stage lighting. Most available for an additional charge. I thought it was odd that we had to pay extra to have the stage lights turned on and is part of the reason I deducted 1 star from this review. We spent a alot of money to rent the facility but would have had to pay extra if we wanted to turn on the stage lights. I found it a bit opportunistic.
The other large meeting space is an old firehouse that was converted into a chapel. It too has sound, lights and video monitors.
There are a variety of activities available on site such as: rock wall climbing, zip line, paint gun battles, beach volleyball on a sand court, basketball, volleyball, a skate park, swimming pool, etc… there is really alot to do here. Throw in a coffee house and a malt shop to complete the offerings.
The dining hall is pretty large and able to accommodate 350 people at one time. Although the food was quite good, the service was quite slow and meals typically involved standing in line for a long time. They could really benefit their guests by opening up more lines. (another part of the 1 star deduction).
The accommodations. I can only comment on what I have seen, and that is the Long Beach cabin, and the Cedar cabins.
The Long Beach cabin/​house as of 6 – 2013 was quite dated and in need of a pretty thorough remodel. Especially the bunks which were standing on faith and quite uncomfortable. The bathroom was «so-​so». Clean but pretty dated. There is only one shower to be shared by several rooms. The ratio could be roughly 20 – 30 guys to one shower, so some «strategery» was needed to get in there.
The Cedar cabins were «newer» and had much better bunks. Solid, and as comfortable as could be expected. The bathroom has a circa 1990 vibe but was clean. Again, there is only one shower for each side of the cabin, but the ratio was better there at about 12 – 14 guys per.
The staff whether they were administration, food service, customer service or maintenance, were all friendly and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. They have done an great job hiring and training a positive and responsive staff.
As of 6 – 2014 there is evidence throughout the property that money is being spent to upgrade the facilities and grounds. Overall 1000 Pines provides a good combination of nice facilities, good staff, and an excellent location.
I would highly recommend it for your group.

I love thousand pines. Been going here now for years with mosaic and have to say there is not a better place to spend a retreat in the mountains then here.
The dining hall provides excellent meals. I’m talking quinoa, steak, pork and chicken tacos you name it. This is not a cafeteria, they have chefs prepare a great menu.
The layout of the grounds is excellent, surround by the beauty of the pine tress it is a very calming place to be.
The cabins need to be updated but nothing worth not choosing the place over.

I have come to this camp for the past 10 years and even worked 2 summers here. This place has a special place in my heart because I became a christian here. The whole staff is amazing an they always go above and beyond to make the camp expierence amazing.

First of all… and of utmost importance, the food is GREAT and the people who cook and serve it are great too!
Five Stars for the food.
The sound in the main meeting was horrible first night and the person running it wasn’t familiar with the board at all.
We finally had the main sound guy for Saturday night and the sound was great. Too bad others aren’t well versed on the sound board. It’s pretty essential to have good sound at a retreat… to me it’s a deal breaker to have poor sound.
My key did not open my door and I was locked outside in 25 degree cold, late at night. I asked staff for help and they had no sense of urgency, just said, «Wait, he will be here in a while.» They split, weren’t too concerned. The guy was there in less than 10 minutes, but still, if I hadn’t have happened to see some staff walking around at 11pm, would have had to sleep in the cafeteria or something. There was no after hours phone. The guy who let me in gave me a «direct» number in case I got locked out again. I tried it the next day. It was a non working number.
When you do happen to get one of the «main guys» helping you, they are superb. The rest… hit or miss.
They have good activities available, but places to socialize are small and limited.
I did say the food was great though, so that about balaces out my review of three stars.

I love this place for the most part.
Can’t remember how many times I’ve been here. I do know this year and last year for sure, as I’ve attended the Mosaic TerraNova artisan’s retreat which is staged at this location during Labor day weekend.
The lodging areas are pretty nice for community. The beds aren’t too comfy, but I guess what’re you supposed to expect from a «camping» experience right?
The dining staff are all super friendly and always have smiles on their faces.
The Malt-​Shop and the other coffee shop, (I can’t remember the name they had branded for that one) both need hours of operations on them so their guests know when to expect service.
It’s a bummer for us who attend TerraNova because that second night everyone is up late finishing up projects and want service after the camp fire rally for a pick me up. Unfortunately since we didn’t know what time they closed, soooo many people were bummed out. This is what brings it down from as-​good-​as-​it-​gets.

I love this place. Great ministry values and the staff is consistently excellent.
An easy drive up the mountain. Off 210 it’s only about 15min up the mountain. Another 15min from lake arrowhead village.
Fun recreation venues available — paintball, rock wall, zip line, pool, skate park, etc.
I hope to work here someday. … someday soon
