I wanted to like the food much more than I did. I had the Mexico City Tacos so I sampled three different meats. None of them had any flavor to me. So, I thought the salsa bar would be just the ticket to add some zip. My favorite of the lot was the verde. I typically like some heat but this mild sauce was the only one with any real taste. There are just too many authentic, excellent Mexican restaurants in town to give this one another try.

doesn’t deserve the one star. been a customer for years always ordering the same thing. I ordered today a fish burrito without rice and they put rice in it. they said okay we will remake it, they remade it without the fish and now I have no dinner ! this is a pretty bad experience I’m very sorry to say. went from my favorite restaurant to the worst !!

I like the variety of the menu offered. I ordered a plate of the chicken enchiladas which comes with rice, beans, lettuce, and chips, totaling to $ 9. There is also a salsa bar with around 8 – 12 specialty dips to try. The 4 dips I tried were all very complimentary with the meal. Also there’s a full alcohol bar and spotted some frozen drinks churning in the back(Perhaps I can go try it during non-working hours hah) I would definitely visit again.

4.4 18 reviews Chuck Jones Chuck Jones in the last week I was told I could get any burreto as a bowl. So I ordered their overstuffed burreto and paid extra for steak. I got it to go. Picked it up and left. Went 2 miles down the road opened it up to find no rice, no beans, just a half full bowl of cold steak, cold cheese and salsa and guacamole. I understand if it doesn’t come with beans or rice even though they should tell you but I assumed the food would be served hot. If not they should tell you. I would go to Qdoba next time it also way cheaper and the food is hot!

Disappointed. The food just wasn’t good. Tasted very artificial/mechanic/generic/mass produced. Not much taste. Too bad, because I wanted to like it. It was kinda cozy inside, and the price was good. Will not return.

This place was a neat find. It’s some of the best Mexican food, although not the most authentic. The staff is always smiling, and there is lots of outside seating. I recommend parking in the rear(no pun intended). The front lot is like a crap shoot, and you may get some serious door dings from snooty patrons not paying attention. The salsa bar is AWESOME, and you should definitely give this place a go. Keep eating out there!

What a pleasant surprise that my friends and I found today! La Salsa is off of Olive and definitely built for professionals on lunch hour. However, today there were 3 adults and 4 kids with my party. We stumbled upon their kids eat free on Tuesday policy! Big bonus, even though we still would’ve eaten there today. This is actually a quick service place– order at the counter, food comes out a short time later. You can tell that the food is made to order. It was hot, fresh and plentiful. They have a nifty little salsa and condiment bar that has 6 – 7 different kinds of salsa, pico de gallo and fresh relishes. Each order comes with tortilla chips to use at the salsa station. The burritos come grilled which gives them a crispy texture that I prefer over a soft burrito. Their salads are large with fresh ingredients. Perhaps the best thing about this place was the owner,(yes, we asked him), he immediately brought crayons and coloring sheets to occupy the kids, kept us refilled with chips and seemed to really enjoy having a family in his establishment. Highly recommend you give them a try! Kids eat free on Tuesday and Sunday– meal comes with entrée, side, tortilla chips and a drink.

Really like this place. Food is very good(try the Mexico City tacos). The owner seems to always be on site and is always cleaning taking your plates or bringing you chips. He is a super nice guy. Prices are a bit on the higher side but overall always had a great experience and great food. Make sure to try all the salsas at the salsa bar and ask for more chips as they are free unlike so many other tex mex places. Enjoy.

Very much a solid 3 star experience. I sat at the bar & ordered combination taquitos & enchiladas. There wasn’t a lot of urgency in the bartender’s speed, but she was quite friendly. The food was 3 stars. The salsa bar is definitely intriguing. I thought the pineapple salsa was pretty interesting, but a lot of them I wasn’t overly impressed by. Perhaps I’ve gotten spoiled by Mexican on Cherokee street, but I just really thought for the price, I’ve had better, although it’s not bad. The chicken enchiladas could use more flavor in my opinion. Service was also 3 stars, as it took a while to get the check, and I was on my lunch break. Perhaps other items on the menu are tastier. I’d probably come back, however.

Whilst in Creve Coeur on a Saturday evening, I found myself desirous of nachos. I opened Unilocal on my phone and searched for nachos near my current location. La Salsa came up as a result, alongside a picture of some pretty good-looking ‘chos. La Salsa is an order-at-the-counter chain restaurant that began in California. They have a small bar area, and their menu includes tacos, burritos, salads, quesadillas, taquitos, fajitas, enchiladas, and nachos. Whether you are dining in or taking your food to go, don’t miss the self-serve salsa bar! Grab one or more of those tiny cups they offer, and help yourself. On my visit, the salsas included a mango salsa, three or four tomato-based salsas, a salsa verde, and an avocado salsa. Lids are available if you are taking your salsa with a to-go order. And that’s exactly what I did. I first noticed symptoms of my nacho craving at around 8:30 in the evening. By the time I had decided on La Salsa, I noticed they closed at 9PM. Wow. That seemed early for a Saturday, so I decided to place my to-go order over the phone before heading their way. I ordered nachos, described as «fresh tortilla chips smothered with jack and cheddar cheeses, beans, salsa, a rich roja sauce, guacamole and sour cream.» You get a choice of black or pinto beans. I went with pinto, and I also paid extra to add chicken to my nachos. My total was $ 10.23. They were pretty good, especially considering the fact that I put my order in right before they closed. The nachos were not quite as cheesy as the ones I had seen on Unilocal; I definitely wouldn’t say the chips were«smothered» in cheese. The chicken was roughly diced and had good flavor. The salsa served on the nachos was pico-de-gallo style. The guacamole and sour cream were packaged separately in the same little containers from the salsa bar. The one thing I did not particularly care for was the«rich roja sauce.» It was the kind of sauce you might find atop an enchilada. I’d probably omit that on my next nacho order. I hadn’t anticipated how HUGE these nachos would be. They hadn’t looked so large in the picture. ;) Also, because La Salsa is more of a fast-food place, I just assumed my nachos would be on the small side. Nope. They were in an oval container that measured 11 inches in one direction and 9 inches in the other direction. Jeez. I’m pretty picky about salsa, so I only tried the avocado salsa from the salsa bar. Yum! I grew up in Texas, where chips and a tomato-based salsa were complimentary at Mexican and Tex-Mex restaurants. If salsa wasn’t enough for you, you could order chile con queso or guacamole to go with your chips. Some places also offered a creamy avocado dip. La Salsa’s avocado salsa reminded me of that dip! Oh, the memories! I write two kinds of three-star reviews. One leans more toward the«meh» end of the scale, and the other leans more toward«Yay! I’m a fan!» For me, La Salsa is in the latter group. I was quite pleased with my first experience, and I wouldn’t mind giving this place another go sometime. It might not be the best Mexican(ish) food EVER, but for what is essentially a fast-food place, es bueno!

This place is great. Lot of variety on the menu. Good clean décor and has a small bar and a good all you can eat salsa bar which I find amazing. Food came out hot and fresh tasting. Prices are normal to slightly high but the quantity of food you get is good.

My favorite Mexican food in the area. Great selection, and good prices as well. I love their salsa bar, and they are always throwing nachos at me. Couldn’t be happier.

In my opinion, these are the best fish tacos in St. Louis. They grill Wahoo fish. They are the traditional Baja style with soft corn tortillas cabbage, avocado, and Baja sauce. In my opinion, Tilapia is awful fish. Dirty in how it’s raised, mushy and tasteless. Most restaurants in St. Louis serve Tilapia on fish tacos… yuck! La Salsa has it right. I always ask for some poblano cream sauce on the side. It is so tasty! Good margaritas too.

Super disappointed. I have a friend that loves this place, while she tells me about it probably once a month, I didn’t make the drive to try it until I had a pretty good coupon. Since I was on my lunch break I was glad to see that you pay and then come back for your food like Bread Co, or Jilly’s. The line was super long and the food ended up taking what seemed like forever. I did over hear the manager/owner say that they were understaffed that day, if that were the only problem I would give them another chance… but my co-worker and I shared two entrees and I didn’t really like either one of them. I did enjoy the salsa bar, with limes, a mango salsa, and an avocado salsa, but I felt the food was so bland and disappointing that I probably won’t be back.

I love this place my husband & I found this place after using our Taste Cards(coupon) and we’ve been hooked since. They’re food is fresh and we love the abundance of salsa variety. They also offer out door seating which I love! We got so much food for just $ 20 after saving $ 10 with Taste Cards. It’s much better than Chevy’s.

So, I thought this place was a restaurant. It’s fast food. I walked in around 2:30 p.m. No crowd at all. There’s a guy standing at the cash register under the«order here» sign. He said nothing. No greeting. No smile. Just waited for me to order. I got the No Rice No Beans Burrito — Grilled chicken, fajita vegetables(onion, green pepper, red pepper), zucchini, broccoli, carrots, corn and salsa with habanero jack cheese and poblano crema wrapped in a flour tortilla. $ 7.81, including tax. He asked if chicken was OK. Well, I wasn’t going to ask what the other options were, and figured chicken was safe, so that’s what I got. Asked for water to drink, and he gave me the dinkiest glass I’ve seen in a long time. Then you pay. He gave me a pager. I asked where the water was. He pointed at the glass. It was empty. I had to ask«Where do I GET the water?» He pointed to the fountain drink machine. There was a guy on a ladder in front of the fountain drink machine, fiddling around with the machinery on top. I couldn’t see the fountain drink machine. He had it blocked. I sat at a booth. The pager went off, and I went to get my food on a plastic cafeteria tray. Got my own napkins. Got my own plastic utensils. Got two kinds of salsa(bueno and avocado) in itty-bitty containers for the chips in my red-and-white checked paper container. Asked the guy on the ladder to accommodate my getting water. Got the water. It was kinda tight and almost obscene. Went back to the booth to eat this lovely late lunch. The chips were thick with good taste and enough salt. The avocado salsa was creamy and good-tasting. The bueno salsa had some heat — quite enough for me, but I’m not big on heat. It was good, too. There were numerous other salsas available, including mango and Mexicano. The burrito was large. I opened it up and ate the filling. It was quite good with a bit of heat. The vegetables were cooked well with a little crunch here and there. The corn added a tasty textural component, as did the broccoli. The chicken had a great grill flavor, small dice and was plentiful. When my water was gone, the meal was over. I wasn’t getting near that fountain drink machine again. The guy was still on the ladder. So, I emptied my cafeteria tray into the trash bin at the door, and took half my burrito home for another meal. The filling heated up well in the microwave, and I added a touch of chunky salsa. Now that I know how this place works, I guess it’s OK. It just certainly was not what I was expecting.

amazing salsa bar and good food. Quick service and great price. Only that they don’t serves every dish in a proper plate and silverware.
