This is the best self serve frozen yogurt shop in St. Louis. The staff is unbelievable and very friendly. The owners are often in the shop as well, and you can tell that they put their passion into the business. The yogurt is much creamier and better tasting than Froyo.

A pretty cool frozen yogurt place. I particularly like this place because of different types of ice cream they offer compared to other frozen yogurts in the area. My favorite is coconut chocolate a blend of both ice cream and it is very very delicious and if you top it off with rock chocolates it’s even better! As I am writing this review my mouth is watering and I may just have to pay them a visit here soon. It is a fun place for the whole family. The staff is very friendly and the prices are comparable to other frozen yogurts shops in the area. They do you have a few chairs for outdoor seating and it is located inside Dierberg’s plaza. I wish I had taken a photo of the coconut chocolate ice cream but I didn’t so you should try it for yourself and tell me what you think. So, if your mouth is watering and you’re in the mood for frozen yogurt you should definitely give this place a try. Oh and lastly last week they were offering buy one get one free pint of ice cream.

I came after lunch and a few errands. As an aside, this is a great plaza with Dierberg’s, Marshall’s, Dollar Tree, Scrubs, Bath and Body Works, Payless Shoes and more. You can get a lot done in this plaza. I walked in and was exuberantly greeted. He gave me the lay of the land, the opportunity to get as many tastings as I desired, told me his favorites. And he told me about the warnings, if you have sensitivities. There are 7 stations, which means 14 flavors, and you can mix with that swirl handle in the middle. I got harvest pumpkin, strawberry burst, salted caramel and New York cheesecake. I separated them, as I always do. And I use no toppings, though there were many available. I was impressed that the room-temperature toppings were separated from chilled toppings(generally fruits) and heated toppings(marshmallow, caramel, chocolate and fat-free, sugar-free chocolate). The best frozen yogurt was the salted caramel. It was amazing. A very deep caramel flavor. Second-best tied were strawberry burst and harvest pumpkin. Great fresh flavors. And the strawberry was so fresh and crisp. The pumpkin flavor was deep and delirious. Least favored flavor was the New York Cheesecake. There were some coconut undercurrents in this flavor. And I don’t like coconut. So, that one was not a win for me. All around, these frozen yogurts are much creamier and fewer calories than other frozen yogurt places I’ve been.

My father-in-law recently became a fan of self-serve frozen yogurt shops. My husband and I went out to lunch with him and my mother-in-law last weekend, and as we finished our meal, he asked: «Hey, are there any yogurt places around here?» I was pretty ecstatic. As The Duchess of Menchie’s in Fenton, I was dying to try the new location in Creve Coeur. «Actually,» I said, «a new yogurt place just opened near your house.» I probably had that crazy look in my eyes that I characteristically get when someone suggests frozen yogurt, custard, or ice cream. The situation quickly escalated from a mere discussion of nearby yogurt shops to all of us hopping in the car and heading to the new Menchie’s. Now, if you like, I shall regale you with a comparison of the two locations. This will be followed by my rating and a brief discussion thereof. –Creve Coeur vs. Fenton– The two shops are owned by different people, but employees at each location seem equally friendly. Both shops have a similar layout and operate in the same manner: 1. Grab a cup or a cup containing a waffle bowl. 2. Fill your cup with whatever you want. 3. Pay by the weight of your cup at the current rate of $ 0.48 per ounce. Both have seven yogurt machines that contain two flavors each, as well as the option to swirl those two flavors together. If you’d like to try a flavor before committing to it, feel free to grab a sample cup. Use a new sample cup for each flavor you taste. Flavors rotate at each shop. Fenton changes their flavors every 3 days or so. From my discussion with an employee at Creve Coeur, it sounds like the new place doesn’t plan to change their flavors as frequently. We’ll see what happens. [Note: The machines likely will contain mostly low-fat and non-fat yogurt. You also might see a representative or two from each of the following categories: sorbet, tart yogurt, low-carb yogurt, no-sugar-added yogurt, and low-carb/no-sugar-added yogurt. I’d highly recommend steering clear of the low-carb and no-sugar-added options unless you have some kind of medical condition or dietary restrictions. That’s just a little somethin-somethin from me to you. ;)] Both locations have a good selection of toppings that include cookie bits, candies, fruit, brownie pieces, and syrups. Although, when I visited the Creve Coeur shop, they had just opened and did not yet have peanut butter sauce or chocolate shell. Those are my favorites! They said they were trying to get them in the shop, and I hope they do. I’m just not sure where they’re going to put them. The topping bar is kind of packed as it is. That leads me to my final statement of comparison. The main difference between the two shops is, in fact, size. The Fenton Menchie’s is much larger. The Creve Coeur location is not as spacious and consequently has less seating. Everything seems kind of cramped. –Rating– Menchie’s is a franchise, and somewhat unsurprisingly, the current two locations are pretty much the same.(I believe a third location is in the works.) If I had to pick a favorite between the two, I’d pick Fenton solely because the Creve Coeur shop makes me feel slightly claustrophobic. However, I’m not going to deduct a star for that. Honestly, Creve Coeur is about the same size as most yogurt places. The Fenton Menchie’s is just an anomaly. Everything in Creve Coeur looks great so far. I just hope they rotate their flavors often and are successful in providing my beloved peanut butter sauce and chocolate shell. :) P.S. If you like Menchie’s, be sure to sign up for their«My Smileage» rewards program. For every dollar you spend, you get a smile. When you accumulate 50 smiles, you get $ 5 to spend on yogurt.

Carpe Yumm! Looks like Heritage Place Shopping Center finally has a frozen treat spot. There certainly are other ice cream and frozen yogurt places on Olive but Menchie’s is a standout. Menchie’s has custom blended flavors that you won’t find anywhere else and on top of them being delicious they have health conscious options as well. Some of the options are non-fat, low carb, gluten-free, vegan, and kosher options. Also, the dairy cows they use have not been treated with artificial growth hormones(rBST). I stumbled upon this place on its opening day. The staff was bubbly and super helpful; interior was bright, cheerful, clean and there were sample cups so you could try before you buy. I went with a cake batter and Reese mix w/added granola, fresh strawberries and sinful caramel. Wow, it was SOOO freaking good and the spoons are even super freaking cute! The options that they have for toppings are unlike anything I’ve seen before and I am looking forward to coming here w/friends and family. Grand opening week there will be lots of free give aways, BOGO and ice cream happy hour as well. Summer is creeping up on us and I am one of those people that will walk around a plaza instead of moving my car for such a short distance. What better way to knockout essential shopping than with a cup of goodness? Mr. Menchie you have my vote!!!
