Uh-oh. New owners were sprung on us regular customers and they have brought with them big changes — not necessarily for the better! The menu is much larger, with more sandwiches and salads served all day, which is a nice option, but the dinner entrée menu is significantly more expensive(by at least an average of $ 10 per entrée) and is trying too hard to be upscale. Not something I look for in Crozet. I had the chicken piccata and my husband had the linguini with mushroom and vermouth sauce, my chicken was«ok» the orzo side with cranberries wasn’t very good and the green beans were nothing special. My husband said the sauce on the linguini was just strange and too expensive for plate full of pasta with sauce and cheese. I’m going to miss the comfort food and reasonable prices of the previous Restoration dinner menu — especially the mac n cheese side, truffle fries appetizer and the regular hand cut french fries. How could they get rid of the delicious hand cut fries? I haven’t tried the brunch yet. Our server was, like always, attentive and friendly and I would give the service a high rating. Clearly the new owners have, so far, kept the same great wait staff of locals. I would have given the old Restoration a solid 4.5 stars by the way.

I understand the business recently went through a change in management. This was clear from the expanded menu — obviously some changes had occurred. I was disappointed to see that some old favorites were no longer on the menu — most notably the hangar steak en frites and the truffle fries appetizer. I was however pleased to see a new range of sandwiches. Change is not necessarily bad, so I was happy to give the new Restoration a shot. Unfortunately it did not go so well tonight. Our burrata and tomato bruschetta appetizer — something that should take just a handful of minutes to prepare — did not arrive for half an hour. And to follow, when it eventually arrived, my beef tenderloin sandwich was plated in a remarkably unappetizing manner — reminiscent of a Denny’s steak sandwich served open face, with a sparse scattering of lukewarm fries on the side and a flaccid pickle spear. To top it off I had to cut my less-than tender beef tenderloin with a butter knife. To summarize: I was disappointed in the food tonight. Our service was great. Prices for salads and sandwiches were reasonable, other mains less so. Ambience is ok, just a bit noisy as it always is at this place when you sit inside. Other meals were good — only complaint was that the brussels sprouts that accompanied the meatloaf were charred a bit overzealously. Our dessert — sticky toffee bread pudding — was a delicious highlight. I will go back but I am worried that the best days of this place are behind them. Word to the wise: Bring back the truffle fries and the fries appetizer. These were not fancy options but they were delicious. And please improve that beef tenderloin sandwich. You can do it!

The hanger steak is wonderful. I substitute the sweet potato fries for the truffle fries, however. Yet, the place is WAYY to0 noisy. I will only order out from now on. They could easily take care of the noise problem with some tapestry hanging from the ceiling or on the walls to absorb the sound.

Dog Friendly! My wife and I stopped here on our way to go camping with our dogs, I wasn’t aware it was a golf course. I was nervous because I have been turned away from golf courses because of dress codes… No problem they said. My wife and I were seated and they brought out a water dish for the dogs. Had a great beer list. My wife had the chicken salad sandwich and I had the brunch sliders. Both were delicious! We will stop here again next time we set that direction.

I have to start by saying I absolutely love Restoration. The food is always totally delicious, the views are beautiful! I always have fun when I am there– especially when it is warm and we sit on the patio and the kids can play. Their burgers are amazing, the royale is the best I have ever had. Their salads are delicious and I love to add chicken or salmon to make it a meal. The only thing that has me holding back from a 5 star review here is the service. The servers are always pleasant and good natured however not always great about the actual job. They try hard but are understaffed at times which leads to mistakes and can be frustrating(we were there last Tuesday and everyone else had gotten their food, I went in about 15 minutes later to see where my food was and then had to wait while it was made, mistakes with several other orders and the bill was messed up too. Kind of disappointing as we were celebrating a friend’s birthday.) That said, everything else is so great I will go back again and again and as long as you are patient, you will never be disappointed with the overall experience.

I live in the area and wanted to try it. We went for an early lunch and as we had other things to do, hopefully a quick lunch. There was only one server there at the time because it was still early. There was a group of 6 people there who looked like they were done eating but in no hurry to leave. After being seated and given menus, sometime later another server look our order. The menu is small but looked great and the prices were reasonable. It look 30 minutes to get our meal, which surprised me as there was nobody else there. We waited a long time to get our bill so I just went to the bar and asked for it. I am giving this 4 stars because I loved the view and I liked the menu and the food was good and the prices were reasonable but it took too long for the meal to arrive and get the bill.

I live near Restoration and my family and I go often. I’ve never had a bad meal. Good beer selections, great food(the Royale is amazing), and breathtaking views of the mountains.

The location might throw you off a bit, but don’t let it sway you from going! The views are gorgeous and the food was really good. We had nachos, stuffed shells, meatloaf with mac & cheese, & another appetizer I can’t remember. :-/The food was all very good! We couldn’t finish all of anything and took quite a bit home with us. The portions are very fair for the price! The mac & cheese was SO good. Everything we ate was good, zero complaints. The service was excellent and they were totally fine with us taking our time and enjoying the views.

I came by to scout this hidden establishment close to the house, and I must say I’m a bit excited to see a cute place with a modern rustic feel in the area. I’m not originally from here, and hold no loyalties but enjoy watching the local scene grow. Although I can’t speak for their full menu, I had a bourbon based cocktail with a dessert of strawberry shortcake. Both were tasty! The only bit was the ice cream I asked for as an extra was a bit crystallized(as if either the freezer was off for too long and it refroze after they got it back on again) and not as appetizing, but I didn’t need that anyways. What I’m really excited to try is their brunch! There’s not really a truly amazing brunch place in this area, and I’d like to see this place succeed and be a somewhere I can take my friends and show off the scenery. I’d love to see an amazing eggs Benedict on the menu. I’ll be back to this young establishment to check out the menu a bit more and may update my review afterwards. As for a prior reviewer on his rant about the grits, if you check out his other Unilocal reviews on other establishments, he’s pretty much an all around basher. Perhaps someone who you may want to watch out for and wear body armor around. I think the Restoration representative recovered nicely.

We have enjoyed eating at Restoration and it is rapidly building a reputation among locals. Its a weird location being at the golf course, but the views are fabulous and when the weather is nice, the kids can just run around the grass. It’s not unusual for a soccer game to break out Henry G’s review said the Shrimp and Grits were terrible. My hubby says«I want to go to Restoration for the Shrimp and Grits. They are the best». You decide. The service has been good, too. Our only problem is that sometimes it’s too crowded or noisy… but that’s only because it’s so popular. The fact that Restoration is currently ranked between Cuchina del Sol and Sam’s Hotdogs in the middle of the pack makes me lose almost all faith in Unilocal

Sunday brunch on the back patio on a sunny morning was terrific. Between the three of us we had and shared eggs, granola, a salad, and waffles. Every bite was terrific. Fun thing is that the kids can play in the lawn while you wait.

I came here on a Saturday night with my husband, parents, and young son. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. We sat inside since it was raining and the dining room was nice, decorated in a traditional american style. Next time we’ll try to sit out on the patio to enjoy the beautiful views. I like that the beer and wine on the menu is all local. Only downside was that our waitress wasn’t able to help us choose a bottle of wine. I had the bbq salmon which was very good. The highlight of the meal was the banana bread foster and ice cream sandwich that we all shared for dessert!

This place is a gem! They haven’t been here for very long but they’ve been making hay since day one it seems. I stopped in for lunch after a round of golf a month or so ago and just finished a dinner date there tonight. It’s set inside a pleasant golf clubhouse with a great terrace overlooking the course. Service was prompt and the perfect balance of casual and professional. The menu was a great mix of authentic southern dishes with a few modern highlights. I had the strip steak with potatoes rosti and creamed spinach my date had the shrimp and grits. Both were outstanding, we shared the crispy oysters appetizer and the ice cream sandwich for dessert — everything met and exceeded our expectations.
